I can't wait until I get my drivers license. Or permit. There is one car that's got my heart tho. A 1970 Dodge SuperBee in Sublime green with the black C stripes. I'm hoping to be able to save up enough money to be able to purchase it and put in a high quality alarm system with power door locks; but mostly I want to turn a whole crap load of heads the first day of senior year in high school. As long as it's got four on the floor, I really don't mind what kind of engine it has.(440 or 383 magnum)

@chicagolandhobby I don't know how old you must be to own a car, the grey car was never under my name or licensed, but you get you're learner's permit in Ontario at 16 years old.

I see. Oh, before you scrap it, take your $150 dollar starter. You could probably sell that on ebay for more than what a scrapper would give you.

you may not want to get a complete power flush (drain torque converter as well) if tranny is original and seals are old. i did this with my original tranny in 06 and it blew out the seals. had to replace all seals. just drop pan and do simple drain instead to be safe.

last note. use Castrol 10-30 year round. no Quaker State (high ash content) adds deposits. i got that advice from 2 guys who are bulk oil salesmen. and no brake stands! these old chevvies are stout and durable and can take alot of shit, but even their rear ends and trannies blow up with repeated abuse. lots of luck!

This thing couldn't do a brakestand if I wanted to! It only has back brakes(sort of) and my fuel problems (whatever they may be) cut the power down too much anyway. That old 305 is a little tired

also, flush your coolant (every 2 yrs). even though a test may show it's good for -40, old coolant loses rust inhibitors (can ruin rads, water pumps, heads, etc.) if money permits, flush out tranny, rear axle, and power steering fluid (i suspect these may never have been done). adds to life of car. tranny flush should be every 2 yrs. axle and power steering should be good after flush for several years-or until seals go, or these items need replacement. in 7 yrs i have replaced axle seals 2x.

Flushed the tranny already (accidentally, long story), unfortunately money doesn't permit. I'm more hopeful to get my ford(Ughh) on the road. This one needs a bit much more work than It's worth.

fill your tank up with mid-grade fuel. more detergents in mid. after you fill, put in a bottle of carb cleaner and and drive for awhile. i find Pennzoil xtra concentrate works good. make sure battery is clean/tight. put in new Delco plugs (nothing fancy-no platinum shit), fuel filter, and Delco plug wires. if you are storing or not driving much (many weeks-months) fill tank and put in 8oz (small) bottle of fuel stabilizer in tank & then run for 5 min. plug in (even in few degrees below).

She's already got stabilizer, new plugs, new wires, new-ish coolant, etc.
