The audience in Japan,SO much more respectful than American audiences. While I understand being excited....sometimes you can't even HEAR the artist on beautiful soft songs here. How many times have people here been screaming over Immie, or Tori Amos, or even Stevie Nicks? And you DO sometimes feel like telling them to just shut the fuck up so you can HEAR. This audience was so quiet until the end...you could have heard a pin drop. That, in and of itself...was beautiful...only adding to the song.
I'm a very recent fan, and I when I listen closely to say ten tunes, the style, and I could be wrong, but does anyone sense a little Alanis Morissette edge?
What's very amazing, is not only her intelligent talent, but in almost all the tunes listened to so far, 99% of the posters showed her ultimate respect.
It just proves She has the gift to bring out the best.
Actually it has a lot to do with Japan, it's called their culture. Furthermore, it depends on the artist. Mindless Self Indulgence said that everyone told them that the Japanese would be quiet but they went wild and loved it. Thirdly, they weren't comparing Imogen Heap to Evanescence, they were using Evanescence as a reference point.
What about Japanese culture? Imogen heap would play anywhere and people would shut up and listen out of respect and admiration.
Your point about MSI is null, because the Japanese typically do go nuts at gigs.
And I didn't say anyone was actually comparing Evanescence to Imogen Heap, I said that that comparison of two different bands and performances had no place here.
There is no comparison, not musically, not stylistically
agreed! well unless its the end of the song then you can start cheering or if its pretty much your first time seeing them live. but other than that, agreed.
I think this song "Candlelight' is very lovely. Quite deep, touching and saddening at the same time. I have been a 'diehard Imogen Heap Fan' even when she was in the badn "Frou Frou." I loved Frou Frou, just because of her in it. Emmie, is a rare treasure. (Thank the God/Goddesses for her being born here.) :)
I think she probably had to play in diferently because of having the other instruments and playing on a keyboard, but I get what you mean. That is one of my favourite moments from any Immi song.
Nope, Imogen hasn't published any of her sheet music to date. However, the solo is just based around 4 chords in C major (with a nice key change in the middle) so it shouldn't be too hard to work out.
is she a lesbian?
Just a question

are you sure guys that japanese are silent on live shows? cause i've seen mavy evanescence performances in japan and the people were going crazy lol
constantineofdarknes 3 years ago
That silence you hear?
That is nothing to do with Japan: That's the sound of respect for a real musician.
Don't bring Evenescence into a discussion about Imogen Heap; there is no comparison.

I'm not getting into an argument with you, the point I was making is; stop being such a stuck up bitch. Conversation ended.

Yeah I hate it when other people make noise during a musical performance.... it's the whole point of performances is to listen to live music?
Performances shouldn't be a "WHOOooOOO" contest. I didn't go the the place to hear some obnoxious drunk guy go WhoooOOooOOoo.

The piano solo kind of disappointed me... the one from the album had so much more to it, it was so much more elegant.

the japanese audience is always so silent
during a performance so they can listen then
after the song that's when they cheer. that's cool
and different from other places.

SOOO~ different from America with all the "WOo"s. So annoying and counter productive... TRL should not extend beyond... TRL. <_<;

Every audience should be silent like them
Except when its Rock or Metal music
