Yes! I cannot tell you how many times I have heard this!
Only problem is it's always louder than the movie. Many times I have fallen asleep watching a movie to be jolted out of my sleep by a fanfare a big damn lion in my face!
This is emeraldviolin1's son. Here's what I want to say about this video: I have this opening jingle on my oringinal VHS tape of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. My favorite movie ever!
The scariest thing about this logo, is that when you finish watching the Gone with the Wind CAV Laserdisc boxset, with all the bonus features finished, not only this logo appears, but it's followed by SMPTE color bars with a loud 1khz tone.

I would just like to add to the growing number of individuals scared by this logo as a kid. I, to this day, still don't understand why I was terrified of this logo, but I was. Maybe it's the silence of the Copyright warning then the sudden blast of the music.
Wrong answer. The Great Mouse Detective was made by Disney, your theory was automatically flawed. Do you have the VHS tape? Look at the side and you'll see the Walt Disney Classic logo.
This scared the hell out of me as a kid, and can you blame me? How would you feel if you were a five year old expecting to see Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, and getting this thing screaming in your face?
wwefrog94, are you out of your mind?!?! The Great Mouse Detective is from Disney. And besides, the July 1992 VHS Copy of the Great Mouse Detective has: Part 1: 1. Green Warnings 2. Aladdin Sneak Preview 3. "Feature Presentation" 4. 1992 Clean Walt Disney Classics Logo 5. Walt Disney Pictures Logo Part 2: 1. Walt Disney Pictures Logo (Silent) 2. The Rescuers Preview 3. "Coming This Fall to Home Video" 4. Beauty and the Beast Preview
Wow, this brings back memories of my family renting Blown Away (Jeff Bridges flick), or my brother renting those old Bond movies. And boy do I like that music, I think it should be used in front of the current MGM Pictures logo.
I disagree with this person. I saw the next logo in "The Wizard Of Oz" in the 1993 tape. Now I'm wondering what is the earlier version of that movie with this variation.
I have this one on the Tom and Jerry (I believe) 40th birthday Special circa 1990. They have a sweet one for a 30 second bumper where the logo itself is standing out, but mini ones are moving diagnollay on the black screen, changing into rainbow colors. Anyone have that video?
I remember this logo, it used to terrify me! It still makes me shudder after all this time... (And I'm glad I'm not the only one who was scared by this! ;^^ )
In addition on some videos, this logo would be seen as a still, with the movie's copyright date at the bottom. The BG was all colorized MGM/UA Home Video logos changing colors as they move down from top right to bottom left, if you know what I'm talking about.
Well, after THIS particular logo fades to black, the logo that I mentioned (with the colorful BG of MGM/UA logos, sans the lion). Whoever has a clip of this should post it so they know what I'm talking about. Or at least a photo.
I like this logo. I've viewed on the Tom & Jerry's "The Cat Concerto" video. And i like so much the music, that i are playing this music on my keyboard.
Being reminded, it would be nice if someone can get ahold of the CBS/MGM Home Video logo as well to put up here. I once found it oddly on a release of some Sonny Chiba "Street Fighter" flick that aired on Showtime or someplace that kept the home video logos in for some odd reason.
I remember this logo appearing on My old CED Videodisc copy of "The Secret Of NIHM"

Correction, 1983-1992, not 1983-1995. The MGM/UA Home Video used from 1993-1997 debut on January 1, 1993, to December 31, 1997.
