An 80-year-old client of mine told me today that she had a "Fibber McGee" closet. Now I know exactly what she meant. One of those closets that are stuffed so much that when you open the door everything falls out! I think I have a couple of those, too. :)
Can anyone explain why so many episodes are at the wrong speed on the old time radio sites? I had to fix them in my audio editor by slowing them down at least 2 - 4% . Made them much more enjoyable to listen to and understand.
If you want the world's best source of Old Time Radio shows try RUSC online. Ned has thousands, including Fibber McGee Episode 1, and adds new shows six days a week. I listen to them every day. Love 'em! RadioMickDanger has wonderful stuff, too.
Arthur Q. Bryan plays Doc Gamble (he's the voice actor of Elmer Fudd) you can here Bugs Bunny make a refernce to the show in the Wabbit who Came to Supper
I'm an over the road truck driver. But when I was a small child I'd hear my grandparents and older aunts and uncle's talk about The Fibber McGee and Molly show on radio back in their day. Well when I got a Sirius Satilite Radio from my wife and kids a few years ago, I was able to listen to their old programs. And I got to say.......boy did my generation miss out on something great. Todays entertainers will never measure up to old time radio.
My late grandparents used to talk about old radio shows, and my uncle downloaded almost all of the Fibber Mcgee and Molly episodes. I'd fall asleep listening to them when I was about seven. I still listen to them now. Fibber McGee and Molly holds a lot of wonderful memories for me.
I guess McGee never got that closet straightened out. I love the bit with the ball off the railing-funny sight gag.I also love Here We Go Again. I have them both on VHS. I wish I did have all the radio shows, but what I have, I listen to on my MP3 player at work. Timeless comedy:)
@Mombuck He did, in one episode where he was really hyper and started doing chores simply because it kept him busy. They set up the gag, nothing happens, and McGee says he cleaned out the closet.
I remember I saw on the Thanksgiving week on TCM last year and it was hoot watching this and Here We Go Again on the same day. Really good crossover comedy between Fibber and McGee and Edgar Bergen.
Just crawling around in the wake of the loss of George Carlin. He was damned funny. I had to remind myself of a few other comedic heroes, and Jim and Marion were the best.
Anyone remember Molly's bread and butter pickles? They turned this into something funnier than imaginable.
Fibber McGee and Molly did a weekly radio show on NBC, but during the summer hiatus, they also did a couple of movies based on their radio show characters. This one is the best of the movies they did. It's a shame that these two great comedians, their gags, and their acting group are now forgotten by so many. Jim and Marion Jordan are truly a great team.
It's odd seeing a face paired to that voice... cool though.

I grew up in the '70's. My Grandmother used to quote from this show all the time! "'Taint funny, McGee!" Thanks for posting! ('Twas funny, McGee!)

I live Fibber McGee and Molly. Great for listening to on those long rides to Michigan. Wish the movies were on DVD

I think they had the greatest radio program of them all. Teamed with Bob Hope Tuesdays on NBC in the 1940's--talk about star power.
