When you moved your a/c controls what kind of faceplate did you get to make it all look original. I want to put a double din in my e46 i just cant find the trim piece for the a/c if you move it to where the ashtray is...any help or suggestions? i appreciate any help!!!
@failsafestray The information on that is in the second paragraph of the description : ) If you have further questions please contact tech support at bavsound dot com. Thanks!
Thank you for this video! Helped me a lot when installing my new Alpine head unit, the IDA-117ri had quite a lot of cables with it actually required to remove most of the centre console to get the wires go nicely. But thnx for these videos!
@bavsound thanks i have a 323i so should i just follow the instructions on the x5 video? cause they should be pretty similar im just stuck on a few parts like where the remote wire goes in the head unit
@LostPrototyp3 Well I am shocked, you are right we don't have E46 videos up yet! You can download our .pdf guides from various product listings on our website and that will help you out a lot. Thank you! Coby
hi i have a new stereo for my bmw 323i 99 and the guy had a hard time trying to install the stereo he told me that he cant install it because theres on part missing witch you took off at min 05:29 the "sub frame" do you know where can i get that part ???
awesome video man thnx a lot. one Q though. what radio bezel did u use? ive looked on crutchfield and it says there are no 2 din specific bezels for e46 and i would rather not use universal. thnx for ur help
@hapagan91 Hey there, no problem. It's a direct fit on other cars and almost a direct fit on E46, but if you want it to be 100% factory you'll need a climate control trim piece available from the dealer. In this install we did not use the factory piece and it worked quit well. e46 is the only model that uses the OEM part and it's 51-16-7-001-408.
For the GPS antenna... Is it possible to have it above the head itself... under the dash... somewhere in the vent space maybe? hidden is what im getting at... if so... how bad or otherwise would the GPS signal be?
@rkelly6946 It will impact reception. . . You can always try it, you may still get reception depending on your daily proximity to towers and certain geography. . . Ideally it sits outside the car, the more layers you ad the worse the reception gets. Also, right above your head unit there are lots of opportunities for electrical interference. I wouldn't do it nor would I recommend it.
@bavsound Thanks, the reason I ask is because it is the recommended location for mk 5/6 GTI's which i have done an installation on before... Slightly different GPS antenna i guess...

@bigGARNA Dealership or eBay etc. is probably your best bet. The dealership will have the part number either way though.
