Tell ya all what... I actually have the equipment to perform 4-point spacial averaging of sound/noise (google pcRTA) ... I should measure the in absolute SPL (with A-weighting most likely) with no generator and with generator at moderate loads. (and perhaps video tape that so people can see that I am not blowing smoke).
dude i got a question ,,and i hope u answer soon ..am bout to buy 1 tom ..but in leb ,,we'r not aloud to turn on generatots after 12 cuz most of the generators have loud noises ,,and neighbours cant sleep ..but by using EU2000i ,,do u think i can turn it on after 12 am ..???is it that quiet ???i hope u reply soon b4 i buy it ..thx
depends on distance from the generator to listener for all generators, but the EU-series (3000 is even quieter) and when in EcoThrottle mode and electrical load is under 1/4, it's basically idling. I've thought about designing a folding piece of plywood over the output to make it even more quiet (similar to what they do on Heating/Cooling systems to make air vents quieter).
That said, this is the quietest generator made and EU2000i will run for an amazing time on 1 gallon!
yes.. The generator is a bit more expensive (on order of ~2x)... BUT, it's a quality/efficient three-phase generator with electronics that *generates* a perfect 60Hz sine wave output regardless of the engine RPM!
When the load is low (~25% of rated max / under 4 amps) the generator will last over 15 hours on 1 gallons! at full rating 4 hours. I've gone over 12 hours running a microwave (mainly off), TV sat receiver (and TV) and some lights with no issues on 1 gallon!
The output is single phase, correct. But the generator has three phases (stators) driving the input side of the inverter. REASON: three phase motors / generators are more efficient. Study the schematics a little closer, three stators for the inverter input, 1 stator for the 12V output and 1 stator to drive the electronics in the invertor and one stator for the "exciter" (spark plug). A total of 6 coils in the generator (highly custom and well designed). Look at page 55 in the manual
Understand the auto-gain of the camera is crap -- but when I stand a few feet away, the traffic is louder than the generator and really shows how quiet this unit is. If you get much more than 25 feet away (length of a typical electrical cord), it is impossible to hear the generator over most other noises!

That's not three phase. It's single phase.
