Anything that seals wood would work; paint, lacquer, shellac, sanding sealer, etc. Even after sealing the wood, you will need a mold release if you are using Urethane RTV. You might consider using white melamine board sold at many hardware stores. It is particle board coated with a hard white plastic like coating.

Can I make a mold box out of wood. it would obviously be porous at first so what can i use on the wood so that it would be non porous?
