Excellent tree work GRU, love your rigging and your attention to safety. What a spactacular view you had on this particular Douglas-fir removal..I'm just curious as to just how tall this beauty was ?? Am I close with a guess of 150' ?? Thanks for the great vid.. safety first so no one gets hurt.... Steven A. Gru, was that all rigged with 5/8 rope, and what helmet cam was this recorded with. Everything about this video is awesome.. Also what lowering device did u use?
Ah, I miss the days when having a good groundsman you know, stress free and almost no talking necessary, makes for a great day in an awesome location, doesn't it?! Go Pro !
bad ass video gru, @ ms290guy1999. rigging blocks are a must for dropping heavy wood. check out any of the videos by "recoates" beech tree rigging has good examples. I use 5/8 stable braid with that same block and 5/8 tenex sling. i cant imagine not having it. Its a must when u have so much riding on your rigging. Stay safe out there guys. i just got a gopro hd helmetcam so ill be posting videos soon
@jonesbrent85 im probaly gonna have people say im wrong. i climb the trees some times an have never used a pully. i have cut some wood this big while climbing also. i have all the stuff except a pully. maby i will get one
Hello from Finland! Do you have the possibility to tighten the rope at the bottom because the logs seem to be 'jumping' down almost. I usually have a 90 degrees felling cut and still have to push the logs down even with smaller stuff... Keep save!
Great work Gord! I especially like the way you used the bar at the 2 minute( Video elapse time) cut. lol Hey man good to see you in short sleeves,it was 95 here last week, global warming I guess... Be careful bro. D Lakeland FL

@ms290guy1999 it not good to put the rope in the croch of the tree you can wreck your rope

@ms290guy1999 and how else would he rig that if he did not use a block
jonesbrent85 3 months ago
@jonesbrent85
They used to rig it with a but tie. I dont suggest doing that though. Pulley blocks only came on the scene in the last 15 years.
