Hy guys could you let me know what you think of my rendition of lenny, I hope you like it, please comment, I put a lot of sweat/bleat into this song over the years. thanks
if im getting a new fender strat and i want the john mayer deep full bodied tone which strat should i get i also play classic rock adn hendrix any guitars good for the john mayer tone id rather have the john tone than any other , also how is the fender roadhouse strat
Man, use punctuations.. lols. Anyway, don't really know how to help you.. but all i know is, JM has a really fat tone. You might want to look for the pickups on the SRV strat or the JM strat, they're called big dippers.. i think. Or just get a JM or SRV strat, or even an american deluxe.. As for the gear jm uses, you can find it via google.. two-rock amps, marshall bluesbreaker..etc..
Yeah, I noticed this is from a while ago, but incase you haven't gotten the guitar yet, or the question was never answered, the pickups you need are called Texas Special Pickups. I'm not sure if Fender has any guitars that come specifically with them already installed or not, I had to buy mine after-market and have them installed by a guitar tech. But they do the job for all those sounds your looking for...hope this helped.
@bondman00794 the jimmie vaughan has em'....along with a select few strats. Forgot which model(s) TExas specials are the best though. love mine to death
Thanks. Its a Fender Frontman 25watt, with built in reverb. The clean channel with the reverb sounds great, but the drive is just so-so. Overall a great amp!
this is the SRV version, John mayer was playing it like him, then you are playing it like john mayer so really, you are playing it like srv, ..i love this tune!!
Killer bro. Check mine out.

a little rough but sounds somewhat good. Plus,...you're playing the wrong chords for the main lenny riff.

i have an american deluxe. its really nice but it doesn't have that mean middle range that you get with the jm and srv strats.

I don't think anybody here could afford all of the gear John Mayer uses.
