1 time... i was flying my B-17 online, and a formation of zeros got onto my tail and shot there machine guns like fuck, i went to the gun position shot 3 down, and the last one tryed to ram me, his wing hit my rudder, he died, i had no rudder, 2 engines fell off into the water, 1 was on fire, and 1 quit on me, i ditched, and it was like spame with the

Excellent rendering of that iconic shape. We had a converted B-17 as a weather-plane stationed at Northeast Philadelphia in the 1970s and she was a familiar sight in our skies for a number of years. What a beautiful aircraft built for such a serious purpose. Perhaps if not for the brave men flying these in World War II we might be under the oppressive heel of The Third Reich or dancing to Tojo the Second's tune.

Oh yeah LOL these B17s in this game r by far the hardest to shoot down.......ive flown the TA152C and hosed it down for a few seconds w/ 4 20mm and a 30mm for a good few seconds and it just flies off smokin a lil bit haha

Guys whenever u get a fuel tank on fire all you have to do is gain a lot of speed dive down and once u get like 400-500 maybe even 550 km fire will go out depending on what plane u got.

if u got a b-17 u'll most surelly desintegrate :))...but for fighters it's the best way 2 extinguish the fire...though u'r kinda outta the battle allready...just pray 2 get back 2 base

i figured out there is one way to fly a b-17 if you play online and there is a base with a selectable b-1 if you pick it and have all enging select/unselect controls the select 1 engine unselect all the rest turn on unselect it but select next engine turn on when all enginges are on select all engines then put up the throttle and you can fly

on radial engines hand turning DID take place B4 start up to remove oil in bottom cyl. but not today. hand turning proved too great for connecting rods if too much oil was in heads.

The radials that were prone to hydrolocking still had to be turned through by hand to clear them. Thats when you pull the spark plug out of the hydrolocked cylinder, turn it through by hand to get the oil out, replace plug, and start...otherwise you could break a rod with the starter motor if the engine gained momentum on the upper cylinders before ass-bagging a bottom one.

flaps and throttle can bu used if elevators are damaged and adjusting engine speeds can counter rudder being blown off to some degree. B-17s could take a serious amount of firepower and return on 1 engine with proper management.

Not that b29 or b52 of jetage. Its to bad that the game dosnt support that plane (or maybe also C-47). It would be a freaking nice weapon in onlinegame with the gunview of the 12 MG´s.

Warspeed7... I guess you haven't seen some of the photos of B-17's with 20% of their wings shot away, that still brought their crews home. That being said, all it takes is one cannon shell in the Wrong place to ruin your whole day, as my dad used to say. He flew 79 missions in P-47 Thunderbolts in Europe, and was a frequent "Little Friend" to B-17 formations that were trying to get past everything the Luftwaffe had left to throw at them.
