the other thing to also consider is that originally jiujitsu that was taught to helio and carlos gracie was traditionally a self defence art..there are many challange matches in where kung fu believe that there style was the best etc.....there are many videos on here of a real fight between jiujitsu guys and kung fu artists...it ends in one thing...kung fu guys going to sleep or broken limbs. so the debate of jiujitsu only works on a "soft mat" is quite frankly a unrealistic claim
@gracielover6379 GREAT post :-) People always come out with shit about "in a real fight" but like you've said, it's been done and jiu-jitsu came out on top every time. Yeah, these days it's different... but it's different because every MMA fighter learns jiu-jitsu.
@gracielover6379 I've watched the Gracie Videos and the guys they fought who did 'Kung Fu' had no ground game at all. Most people now know the importance of grappling and specifically ground work thanks to the Gracie's. If someone is suitably trained they can beat anyone else, it's not one style better than another. Kevin is my Sifu and he is an expert in Wing Chun Kung fu regularily cross training. Ask him what style he would use in a street fight and I doubt he would be saying BJJ.
differentation is good , if anyone just done one thing everything else would have been forgot about, it as all good stuff, im not hard thats why i do a style taht doesnt rely on strenght or fitness, im doing mma bjj and samo now for comp type stuff nice soft matts to play on and that, thanks for the video
Im a wing chun fighter of 15 years , i ahve done loads of grappling too , and trained in many other styles even in china, wing chun is a superior street fighting style, its not for the sexy rolling around on a nice soft matt , where you not aloud to knee u in the ass of punch u in the balls , comp is comp street is street cage is cagering is ring its all that simple.
@RobJT differentiation is good , if anyone just done one thing everything else would have been forgot about, it as all good stuff, im not hard thats why i do a style taht doesnt rely on strenght or fitness, im doing mma bjj and sambo now for comp type stuff nice soft matts to play on and that, thanks for the video always enjoy watching martial arts

do u know what really surprises me though mate, is how many rules there is in all these types of contests, u just got to train for the contest to win it
i was lucky enough to train with kevin chan for a few years and i can say the guy is near on unstoppable, such a small bloke and so much power its unreal i wouldnt fancy anyones chances with him if it ever did come to a real life situation as for competetive combat he is again second to none and i have the upmost respect for him id bet anyone to try and hold a bag for him and not be moved by the sheer power of him and not just that his technique and focus is perfect good fight too!
because it's actually more vicious and life taking, this fight definetely had rules. many things could of been done to aviod these kinds of locks. for example eye gouging, groin attacks. etc etc
Who cares about a real life situation? Wing Chun isn't known for it's effectiveness.
Have you ever done any grappling? Eye gouging and groin attacks are not the fight enders people think they are, they're also going to be very difficult to do against a skilled fighter.
i have done grappling. when you're on the ground your body is very much open for all kinds of attacks. its just depends on how quickly you move around on the floor.
yes i understand what you are saying, ofcourse it'll be hard to use against a skilled fighter, but you have to train yourself to be able to use it first.
Just wondering mate because until you have experienced what it's like rolling with a good grappler, it's hard to understand. Trust me that groin strikes/eye gouging etc is going to be impossible unless you are at least close in grappling skill level to someone.
I know loads of good gym in London, if you are interested in trying out BJJ let me know and I'll point you in the right direction.
hmm i dont think i have time for any kind of other martial arts at the moment because of my study. but if i do gain any more time i'll ask you for suggestions
i kind of have the same story not a record like that though but your right they r 2 totally different worlds to fight in and it is hard to use the striking on the floor
I don't get the points thing, how did the guy in white win? From about 5 minutes he looked like he was tired. I saw his brother competing at SENI too. Do you have the video for that?

@badboybrendan , it's not a streetfight. So? it's still a fight, mat or no mat
luigiperso 9 months ago
but the guy in white is ridicolous, sometimes stops because of the kimono and he would get hit really bad if it wasn't for these rules stuff
luigiperso 9 months ago
@luigiperso Are you stupid? It's a BJJ fight, not an MMA or 'real' fight. He wouldn't be doing the same things if they were allowed to strike.

i think the wing chun guy would win

but the guy in white did really well =]
really good video to look at

What grappling have you done? Who have you trained under and how long?
RobJT 3 years ago
i haven't done alot of grappling
i live in london, i doubt you'd know anyone there
as a 15 year old i wouldn't have much time to do experience all kinds of martial arts
if you're trying to find negative points within my opinion
i just want to let you know. i'm not trying to downgrade the art of grappling

Two sweeps and a takedown, they all score 2 points each. The other guy didn't score any points.
Does Italo have a brother? I don't know about that mate.
