@odoslawa Poland in middle ages had been understood only geographically, from the Ukrainian word "pole" - "field". That area was only nominally controlled by Belarusians (Jagiello, Poniatowski), Swedish (Vasa), Hungarian (Hedviga,
Ludwig, Bator) and Saxon dynasties. At a time when Poland was not in Grand duchy of Lithuania or any other part of the state, it was just gray area of statehood. In which was a lot of factions and tribes (as in Somalia, now).

That area was controlled by Polish kings and Polish state. Lviv = Lwów, City building by Poles in almost 90%. Evry historic buildings is made by Poles. Ukrainians only destorys this wonderful, full of polish soul city.

Poles are now a tiny minority in Lviv and western Ukraine.
Most Poles left for Poland after WWII. They chose not to stay and build the USSR --or Ukraine.
In Lviv (formerly Lwow, Lvov, Lemberg), Poles are only about 1 percent of the city's population. Many Poles intermarried with Ukrainians and Russians. Immigration has also diluted the former Polish presence.
Thus centuries of Polish colonialism in Ukraine is almost completely undone.

City largely build by polaks and austro-hungary as Lemberg. But the fact that Galitsky was there for a period of about 60years in 13th century was an excuse to claim those territories as Ukraine after Stalin and Hitler occupaed Poland

The city's original name from 1256 is Львів which spelt in latin letters is 'Lviv.' It's real name is not Lawow no matter how many times poles claim it is.
The polacks who criticize Lviv for being ultra-nationalistic but then start making claims that the city belongs to poland...are at least partly responsible for fueling those nationalist emotions that they themselves criticize.

@odoslawa Poland in middle ages had been understood only geographically, from the Ukrainian word "pole" - "field". That area was only nominally controlled by Belarusians (Jagiello, Poniatowski), Swedish (Vasa), Hungarian (Hedviga,
Ludwig, Bator) and Saxon dynasties. At a time when Poland was not in Grand duchy of Lithuania or any other part of the state, it was just gray area of statehood. In which was a lot of factions and tribes (as in Somalia, now).

That area was controlled by Polish kings and Polish state. Poland always was normal, typical, full and real state with all characteristic for European states features like people, land, sovereign (international) rules and diplomatic recognition + unimportant things like minorities, factions etc. Poland was not in Grand Duchy but in Union with Grand Duchy, where we dominated.

It was territory of teutonic order, which often attacked other kingdoms. Ancestry of nowaday Belarusians or "Litvians (Ліцьвіны / Lićviny)" were founders and ethnic base of the Grand Principality of Litva. Poles are now a tiny minority in Lviv and western Ukraine.
Most Poles left for Poland after WWII. They chose not to stay and build the USSR --or Ukraine.
In Lviv (formerly Lwow, Lvov, Lemberg), Poles are only about 1 percent of the city's population. Many Poles intermarried with Ukrainians and Russians. Immigration has also diluted the former Polish presence.
Thus centuries of Polish colonialism in Ukraine is almost completely undone.

German part of the history of Breslau/Wrocław. I also want to say that as Pole and Silesian I'm ashamed of what my ancestors did in the Ukraine (closing schools where the main language was Ukr. etc.) but as much as I'm ashamed of that I'm irritated by saying that Wołyń massarce of Polish civilians was rightful war.
I alaways thougt that Polish/German history was hard but now I'm sure that Polish/East discussions would much more difficult.

I really wanted to write something peacefull to both sides of the conflict - Ukrainians and Poles but I'm so annoyed by the miseducation of Ukrainians and soviet lies put inside theirs heads. Lwów is much more Polish than Ukrainian just like Breslau/Wrocław is much more German than Polish. I guess there would no argument in here, no writing using CAPS LOCK if Ukrainians were not denying Polish part of the history of Lwów just like Polish are not denying

City largely build by polaks and austro-hungary as Lemberg. But the fact that Galitsky was there for a period of about 60years in 13th century was an excuse to claim those territories as Ukraine after Stalin and Hitler occupaed Poland

Its not 'Lawow'.
The city's original name from 1256 is Львів which spelt in latin letters is 'Lviv.' It's real name is not Lawow no matter how many times poles claim it is.
The polacks who criticize Lviv for being ultra-nationalistic but then start making claims that the city belongs to poland...are at least partly responsible for fueling those nationalist emotions that they themselves criticize.
