I think what people are having difficulty understanding is how someone can "fall in love" with an object with no emotion and no movement. A loving relationship is give and take. The objects are giving her nothing corporeal; she is imagining that this object is in love with her because: She can't handle a relationship with something that can think for itself, and she can't be in a position where she isn't fully and totally in control, and that is most definitely an issue.

I think the people in this documentary are good role models because they are honest about their feelings and try to be as authentic as they can be. This goes completely against that. So I came up with another example of something unnatural ie incest but not harming anyone ie with condoms to see if you condone that. Serial killers and pedophiles are predators, abusers. A man who plays with his own feces while probably a bit bent, isn't preying upon or abusing anyone. It can manifest in things like comfort food and keeping ones most favorite stuffed animal through adulthood. The thing is that OS, while like what children do in a non-sexual way, is different because it's beyond a sense of friendship through maturity. Further, OS people truly know that objects are objects and not people. OS is fascinating to me because it is almost outside of my ability to empathize.
