The Term Double Dutch in english means to do or speak something that no-one understands, like lawyers all talk double dutch cause we cant understand a word of it, the term for the rope jump was coined by Malcolm Mclaren for the song double dutch, I think it just stuck cause it looked so hard to do it sas no racial context to it
Since jumping ropes for recreation was brought to the Americas by Dutch settlers (and coined "double Dutch" by English settlers), I'd say race is a related issue.
I've never heard "double dutch" used to describe speak no one understands, but I have heard of "double SPEAK". Perhaps it being described as "double dutch" descends from it being double speak?
....I bet 99.9% of the people here saying "They suck" can't double douche either....
