John Piper does know how to contradict himself. Well, well, well. Most Reformed preachers contradict themself.

You see, Piper actually believes that people get saved after they first receive faith from God. But here he says, "They get saved by hearing the gospel. Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of Christ..."

Wow! what a contradiction we have here. But then poor fellow couldn't help it, I guess.

Piper, stop teaching 1 thing and then go around preaching another.

@Theologyhere i beg u people who keep saying these things to stop. im not a calvinist or arminian, but i do know what each belive, and i have favorite preachers from both sides. Salvation comes from hearing the gospel that is preached. The bible also says the elect were chosen before the world. Does that make sense to us? no. Are we God? no. Do we have an infinite mind? No. How can God be 3 but 1 - "WE DONT KNOW" leave the mysetries as mysteries, let us not cause seperation among the Family.

@Theologyhere Thats both biblical and doesn't contradict calvinism man. I see no contradiction. The gospel is the means to the end of faith....faith is still a gift of god. just like wood is necessary to make a fire, but a match will ignite it.. u cant have faith without the reaching of the gospel....and for every elect person God sovereignty ensures they will have the gospel preached to them and then gives them faith upon hearing. No contradiction at all.

@Aaron637 When bibles were first authorized 400 years ago and made availible to the public they would have been asking you if you were a brand new christian or something. They killed thousands that wouldn't take the bible as the authority. They said they had the Holy ghost, so what did they need the bible for? God didn't send the bible he sent the Holy ghost. Jesus quoted the old covenant because he was fulfilling it. then after he died he made a new covenant not written with ink.

@MarkofBeastRevealed The bible wasnt written 400 years ago man....go learn church history. It was translated into the common language of the people 400years ago...TRANSLATED. Before that only priests could read it in latin. around 300AD the bible was COMPILED - under Constantine. The church has always refered to the letters of the disciples....if anyone knows Jesus' teaching it was those who actually walked with him. Ur theory is wacked....u could make up anything and say god said it.
