Any dumb ass can sit holed up in their room with a metronome practising. Paul Gilbert ain't the best in world, real fast but nothing too special. Speed isn't everytyhing. It's nice but there's nothing creative about it. It's just different scales sped up with no real originality in it. Hats off to him like, The thing that bugs me is when idiots post saying he's the next Vai, Satriani, or the best ever. That's just showing how little they know about music.

But still, shredding is really no big deal.. it's just shitting notes at a high speed.. and you can also hear he can shred and do legato's and sweeps and NOTHING else.. I can easlily hear (as a guitarist) that is vibrato's and bends are really bad...

and at 12 your finger speed and hand strength (needed to play at that speed) was at that level...it's always SOOOO fuckig easy to pick a kid apart because he may be lax in vibrato (his doesn't suck) and bends (that comment actually made me laugh a out loud at you).

Oh and finger tap and have such amazing accuracy that only 1 or two nots MAY have been muffled (again at speed) and seamlessly move from finger tapping to flat picking (at speed)...lets dis a child for just playing fast without even beginning to comment that he plays fast...and ACCURATE!
