I understand what you're saying. But these girls are performing. There's smiling for real, and then there's forced smiles.

Generally when people are forcing a smile their lips form the smile but there is no crease underneath the eyes.

@jmaccaman Well, I agree that their smiles aren't always real, but they're not always fake either! Aibon was depressed anyway.. But, also, remember the girls have to be "pretty" all the time. If they have an authentic smile, their eyes squint and get "ugly" (I personally find their natural smiles beautiful and favour them), but Japanese standard beauty, they want you to have big eyes.. so.. that might be a reason there..
