  • hlp plz in ubuntu 10.10. i have compiz fusion cube with multiple wallpapers and its unstable. glitch on every start up i have to hit ctrl alt f1 then ctrl alt f7. please help its starting to piss me off

  • 2:08 too much window for mee xD but great! I have only a netbook, and it damned fast!

  • u just showin off by keep on running apps after the other.even linux has errors.not any os so completely perfect.windows, mac, linux, they all have their mistakes and their goods.

  • your face rulez! ;D

  • What's the output of:

    free -m

    When all that is running?

  • more stable and more useful... BAHAHAHHAHAHAAHA bull crap

  • nice job

  • lol at 0:51 Vista would freeze with so many different programs :D

  • @bilendessi: P.S. Of course, I meant using the free radeon(hd) driver of Lucid Lynx, on a HD3200/mobilityHD3650 hybrid card.

  • wallpaper character is called Danbo, theres a ton of him around :)

  • i have amd athlon 64 dualcore 5200+

I have the same performance with an ATI Radeon HD 4550.

Moreover, as we know, ATI is in conflict with linux

i love linux and I think I have a nice pc!!

Anyway congratulations for your PC! ;)

sorry the sentences that do not understand Italian but

  • @bilendessi: I don't know anything about a conflict between ATI and linux. Ok, proprietary ATI drivers are not as good as Nvidia's proprietary ones - but that's the same on Windows and ATI published the 2D and 3D interfaces, so next Ubuntu (10.04) will come with 3D support for ATI cards up to HD47xx (R7xx chipset). I'm running Lucid Lynx Alpha3 at the moment on a dualcore notebook and 95% of the KDE desktop effects work very fine :]

Looking forward to the final Lucid release in some weeks :]

  • where did you get that background?

  • hey i have the same video card but i hace hacked him i have now a nvidia 9800GT 10 GB of gpu ram en 100 gb of ram i have a verrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrry fast pc i can do it for everybodey :)

  • 3d box is ok and some more.. but all that flash and.. lol

  • i have 2.6 ghz Quad Amd phenom, 4 Gb and a 4890 an 9.10 and in the cube with 3d windows, its so much slow when I open 7 or 8 windows, with more powerful sistem, are the drivers or the version?. if i change to 9.04 it will be more fast?

  • Yeah, the specs of the video posters computer are a little misleading. I had everything run as smoothly as he did ~2 years ago, on a much older ubuntu obviously (I think it was Edgy Eft) and 3800+ athlon x2, 7600GS and 1 GB of ram.

Well... I never had that many windows open at once (who does?) but I did have XP on virtual machine full screen on one side of the cube, 720p video playing on one and 4-5 other programs on the last two and it was just as smooth.

  • Everyone know ubuntu's effects and compiz fusion module, but think that you own a pc at Core Quad 2.4GHZ Nvidia9800GT 4Gb RAM, which is absolutely normal to run such faster. I had the same thing on a sempron at 1.8 Ghz and it was closer ...

  • You should open every program you have in linux like you did there, time it. Then open every program you have in windows, time it. I know which one would be quicker.

  • Wow that was awesome and super fast! Can you please tell me where you got the wallpaper?

  • cool men

    nice video

    (y)

  • wooooooooooooooooooooooooooow... i have only 1 core at 1.6 gz.. and i still kick vista's ass

  • haha

  • echo that. ths laptop is pushing 4 years old, with no hardware upgrades. Ubuntu 9.10 runs a steamy dream!

  • lmfao my laptop is from 05 sooo i guess mine is older then u. and i have ubuntu 8.10 running on an ancient emachine tower lol. its says made for windows 95 on it 0.0, have no probs with it tho ... i mean i even have high speed internet on it lolz....

  • @ubuntunoobz dude..one friend of mine had 600mhz 1 core and ram 365 mb and he kicks vista ass!!!!!!!!!!!i know this sounds fake!but its real!

  • @lelos14 nah i dont think its fake i have an old 500mhz emachine tower with ubuntu 8.10

  • Well, after some reading, a realize that linux is a massive learning curve. I guess everybody has to find their own reason for learning linux. As cool as ubuntu is, if i find that it doesn't meet my needs, i may not use it....unless I find it really really fun, then i might take it up as a hobby and maybe eventually convert to linux.

  • (CONTINUATION OF BELOW MESSAGE)

...and if i want to make my iphone sync with itunes, it means you have to search forums, perhaps learn code, (I saw the page of instructions to make iphone work. It's HUGE) then syncing your iphone is another huge matter....it could means hours of work....compare that to doing that on windows...

I'm looking for another big practical reason to motivate me to use Ubuntu....

  • Ok, I've been thinking....hear me out....I realize that for ones who are familiar with linux, using ubuntu makes complete sense and it's just retarded to use windows or even osx. But for ones like me who are already familiar with windows, somehow it doesn't seem worth it to go through hours/days and frustration trying to make an app work that can be so easily installed in windows. You have to learn code as well....(continued)

  • @Juilkca Even if you need to run a windows program, and you cant install on wine, you can run windows inside ubuntu just using a virtual machine!

  • Ah I see. That's relieving. I really like ubuntu. It's really cool. Windows is just stupid and OSX seems boring (just my personal opinion) If I may trouble you for hopefully one last thing. I want to try ubuntu on an hp computer. It's a work PC that I can buy from the company I work for. Again, I'm concerned with whether ubuntu will recognize the parts inside the PC because i have no clue as to the specs except that it's good enough to run windows xp and about 4-5 yrs old...

  • Thanks! I really appreciate your reply. If I may trouble you with few other matters. What about networking? For example, if I have a desktop with ubuntu connected to a 2.4ghz wireless linksys router. Can my brother still connect to the internet wireless if he's using a pc with windows?

  • oh i also have a specific program made for windows that I need to use. Is it possible to install that to ubuntu?

  • Well, I would like to get ubuntu myself but i'm concerned with 1)word processing 2)drivers 3)installing of programs 4)seems to require lots of time to learn to use it. If my concerns prove to be true, why not just stick with Windows? Now I want to be proved wrong so I have a reason to get Ubuntu. Can you do it?

  • @Juilkca:

    1. Don't think i've used a linux distro that hasn't had word processing, spreadsheet, etc capabilities. Failing that use OpenOffice.

    2. Most drivers can be found for linux, chest your manufacturers website. Or there are plenty of drivers written for most hardware. Alternatively write your own.

Learning another OS is like learning a second language. Weigh up the pros and cons.

As for using windows-based software, you can use WINE. Goolge that one.

  • Thanks! Do I need to learn linux commands to use ubuntu?

  • So other than the expose rip off what about that was useful?

Oh, and I can do about 80% of what you did with my two year old 2 core Macbook...lol

I do like Ubuntu but almost nothing about this was useful.

  • I love linux, but the only problem, is that there isn't much game capable for it, even i'm using WINE

  • do you need a fast computer to run ubuntu 9.04?

  • Not at all, here are the current requirements:

    # 300 MHz x86 processor

    # 64 MB of system memory (RAM)

    # At least 4 GB of disk space (for full installation and swap space)

    # VGA graphics card capable of 640x480 resolution

    # CD-ROM drive or network card

However if you want to do something like this video, you're specs need to be higher than the requirements.

  • nope if your computer will run xp(eww) it will run ubuntu(yay) but the better the computer the better it will act(just like any other os)

  • i cant use compiz becouse of fucking ATI!!! I've hd4850 q6600 4gb 1066 but cant using compiz fuck ati and it's driver coders!

  • i couldnt use it before but after hours of tampering with it i got it i install this thing called EngyNG and after that it worked...google envy ati and it should be the first link and follow the commands they tell u to put in teh terminal then envng well ask u wat drivers u want to install ati or nvidia

  • Just Install ATI driver with the latest catalyst

restart your Computer the open a terminal type sudo aticonfig --initial -f

    restart your Computer! done!

  • Very NICE... 9.04 is downloading now. how do i get all the same effects you have here?

  • Compiz !

    Look it up.

  • skillipevolver I said the same thing, but it's actually more productive than either vista or xp....possibly even OSX...try it out with their live cd

  • Ive been curious about ubuntu for a while.. but this video does nothing to sell it to me. So much of whats happening seems pointless, who really uses a PC like this? This is not going to get people interested, it all appears far too busy despite how easy it might be to install/get going. This is probably the most family-friendly version of linux going.. but i still think representation like this does its cause no greatness.

  • Hy,I am a C++ Developer and also for me Linux is the Best I Like it very much.

And now Ubuntu 9.04's parts are more syncronized between them like OS X.

I hope that in the future years Ubuntu Will be more and more diffused in the Desktop PCs, Servers(It is perfect for servers) or Laptop.

  • dude, wtf!!! ur computer is to good to be true,is it liquid cooled

  • Linux owns! :P

  • Wow your pc is fast :)

  • Ubuntu Rulez !!!

  • is this all from the default compiz settings on Ubuntu Jaunty or did you add anything extra like Beryl or other plugins? The reason I ask is because I've been trying out Compiz on Ubuntu Hardy and rather like it, but Jaunty seems (like you said) faster and more stable and I'd love to switch... but I don't want to lose compiz.

    :)

  • thats exactly what i would say..... after spending 300 bucks on windows which can't do any of this by default whahaha

  • @ptiddie Well after i did some research on this operating system, i've found that it pales in comparison to windows, this OS can't do this by default ethier, you have to install compiz fusion, with that you'll get this eye candy you see here, and that's all you'll get. Say goodbye to your games, Microsoft word, and all your other applications that you run on Windows because that's the only thing you'll find on Ubuntu is the effects and a web browser.

  • @XxPoints2shopsx

    what u talking about?

it's in the default repository along with another zilion free software packages.

besides, the fact that gaming studios mainly develop for windows is not because windows is such a great OS, it's just because most computers come bundled with windows .. not that anyone ever asked for it since anyone with half a brain installs linux. but then again, statistically the world is crowded with morons so inadvertently most computers will be running a compatible OS

  • @ptiddie You have to download and install it from the Ubuntu Archive, compiz is not made by the same people who wrote Ubuntu. Can you explain why ever video has effect of the OS rather then what it can actually do? I though morons were attracted to bright colors.. Obviously they are, that's all you see, the effects of Ubuntu because it can't actually do anything else. When you compare, there really is no comparison.

  • @XxPoints2shopsxX

not true, u just choose it from a list and click OK and you're done as opposed to

going to the MS-office website, paying for the software, downloading it followed by a cumbersome install process.

it's in the repo cuz the 'people who wrote Ubuntu' as you so eloquently put it, decided to bundle it with the OS just as MS decided to bundle MS-Paint with MS-windows. how hard is that to understand? besides, what makes you think that however 'wrote' MS-windows also 'wrote' MS-office?

  • @XxPoints2shopsxX

"because it can't actually do anything else"

did u know that 80% of the internet runs on some sort of linux?

did you know that most supercomputer clusters run linux?

did you know that all CGI in mayor hollywood releases are being done on linux?

did you know that most cellphones run linux?

did you know that most devices you interact with on a daily bases run on linux

did you know that google runs entirely on linux

i'm really curious what u reckon that cant be done on linux

  • @ptiddie Your full of ignorance, you don't know shit. 90% of the computer market runs Windows, just shows to prove your dumb ass wrong. Interracti with a daily basis, let me see, my Tv runs on Linux.. Hmm never knew that.. Windows 7 runs on Linux.. hmm never knew that, You're curious eh? Games, applications that are useful, compiz is the opnly thing linux has.

  • @XxPoints2shopsxX

    90% of 'CONSUMER' market.

and yes, i have windows7 running on linux, inside virtualbox that is ;)

your tv's OSD might very well be running some form of linux just as your settop-box, wireless router, cell-phone, san/nas, elevator in your builing, public transport ticket machine and so forth. also, most distro's come standard with well over 20.000 programs. linux runs on almost any architecture.. unlike windows. in my office it replaced windows to do the same tasks and even more

  • @ptiddie Just who is the consumer? Everyone who buys it. Once again, you don't know shit. You see something and you think it runs on Linux but you're wrong, many things run on their own firmware for the specific device. You're a fab boy to the heart, failing to realise what's better because of your own stupidity. I don't understand your type, it's obvious that Windows is superior and yet you somehow say the effects of compiz fusion beats all other Windows applications. I just don't understand.

  • @XxPoints2shopsxX

look, i don't care too much about 3d candy, it's nice and all and maybe some day windows will also support trancelucent windows somewhere in the future but who cares? windows was a project of some dude and Gates bought it from him and continued hacking on the code making it easy for for people without computer knowledge to accomplish certain tasks and this is fine and dandy.

but the thing is that windows lacks 20 years of development compared to unix/linux.

  • @XxPoints2shopsxX

why are u so pissed off anyway? why do you feel the need to advocate windows so vigorously? just because you paid hard earned money only to discover you could have gotten the same functionality for free... when it was too late? nobody is going to make fun of you if you switch to another OS, you are likely to be respected for doing so since most people tend to stick to whatever was forced upon them simply because they didn't know there even was an alternative.

  • @ptiddie I'm not pissed, just wondering why people would subject themselves into a world of lies, Only thing the same between Windows and Linux is the internet, both can connect to it. I'm just wondering why you think that Ubuntu is better, it's astounding to me.

  • @XxPoints2shopsxX

about gaming, it's not big on linux, but its been proven that linux is a decent gaming OS. it has been reported that windows games running on linux through WINE even have higher frames than on windows.

    been playing counterstrike for years:

    youtube.com/watch?v=JfSByW2AfEw

see wine appDB for all supportes games.

also there are games that run very well natively on linux like: doom3, enemy territory, quake wars, medal of honor, serious sam, unreal tournament

  • Linux it´s the best

  • Dual both isn´t the best. Ubuntu as OS and Windows in Virtualbox, Is a option with no troubles.

  • your wallpaper rocks!

  • dual boot is probably the best of both worlds, use Linux and Windows when needed.

  • Can someone instruct me as to HOW to install ubuntu from a USB, i`m running win7 and I can`t install Ubuntu cause my cd drive is defective. Please someone help me.

  • have you searched? :) for ex; "install ubuntu from USB" ????

I don't think so, search and thou shall find :) If not, ask on the forums and people will help at once.

  • Yes I have searched but to no avail. I only found solutions about how to transfer the installation from the hard disk to the USB stick. Which is not a lot of help, since I cannot even boot the live cd.

  • is it an .iso file? then you could just dowload damen tools light and mount the image.

  • Uhhh, no I can`t. Cause the moment I restart my computer, the image dismounts and the virtual drive created by daemon tools no longer exists. The bios can`t recognize software drives.

  • From within Ubuntu I know it's like 2 clicks to make a live USB drive. From Windows, I guess you'd have to do some Googling.

If you had a friend with a computer, you could ask him to let you boot into a Ubuntu live cd and from there run the USB Startup Disk Creator from System->Administration->USB Startup Disk Creator

  • Actually, you might not be able to use the live cd itself to make the USB disk.

In that case find a way to get a copy of the ISO image from ubuntu on your friend's PC and use that.

I had this problem with a friend who had a eeePC and wanted to install Linux Mint... No CD Drive and the easiest way to make a USB Drive to install Ubuntu is to already have Ubuntu (and in his case he couldn't boot into a live CD, obviously).

Having a CD drive is pretty important. :/

  • Yes Ubuntu Rocks!

  • Comment removed

  • so coool!

  • Ubuntu rocks

  • and? it beast without it,and what will be when it gets it? Best os..

  • am not laughing to the OS, I am using same ... its just stupid to have Nvidia9800GT and NOT to install drivers ...

  • okay then...

  • Ya, there is 3d. You can get the 3d cube effect

  • next time u do this show the true potential of linux by running all of them at the same time by going to /usr/share/applications

That way it shows how fast it is under heavy load

  • Agh, I'm not sure if it's worth switching, I'm so used to using the adobe programs, such as dreamweaver, photoshop and premiere, and I searched for tools that did the same thing on linux, I found out they were almost completely different than the tools I am used to using...

  • just wine the adobe applications ur used too if they arent avaliable for linux. hell you can even run windows via virtual box on linux if theres something you really need.. maybe not the fastest most efficient way to go about it but its doable.

  • AWESOME

  • alot of artifacts in that video. good video though, and i do like ubuntu, but it requires the use of code, and the os should never require the user to do that.

its also hassle to get my games running and other apps that work immediately with windows.

now windows 7 has a great interface design, improved performance and yeh i know ubuntu is faster, but windows 7 will do what i want it to, and all my computers will run it with ease.

  • i am using OSX, ubuntu 9.04 and windows 7. i personally think that OSX and ubuntu are on par with each other you can do more with ubuntu then OSX though. Windows 7 is below both of them but just by a bit.

  • Todo muy lindo, pero yo en lo personal me quedo con XP ;)

  • estas en toda la "libertad" de hacerlo, pero. no crees que xp es un poco viejo?? 9 Años!

  • GREAT video. You should contact Canonical and let them use it for promotional material.

One question, though... are you using EXT3 or EXT4 for your file system? If EXT4, have you noticed any data loss or other problems?

  • no.. i dont have problem with ext4

  • man the only thing left is gaming support or better wine but that will come in time im sure ;) LINUX PWNZ

  • got the same system so need teaching please....how to and what to install ..this is cool..

  • for a TEMPORARY install on a virtual partition, download a program called Wubi. It'll install a version of Ubuntu on top of the Windows filesystem, you'll dual-boot, but can uninstall Ubuntu from Windows like a regular app and everything goes back to normal. Ubuntu/Linux takes a lot of patience and research to get some of the quirks ironed out, but it's SO worth it.

  • dude, your too stupid for an operating system.

  • nice for you old windows! virusis!

  • In case you use a Phenom X4 with 2.4 GHz as well, will this run that smoothly, too?

  • i have a 5 year old 2.0 ghx processor with an nvidia 7600 and may not be able to handle what this dude is doing but runs like butter in daily use with all the effects i want activated...

i also have motion blur on my cube...

  • Thanks for your reply. I am using a Pentium M 1.5 GHz (laptop) accompanied by an onboard Intel GPU and it also runs quite smoothly, but no comparison to this vid. Interestingly it seems to run better than on my AMD dual core PC with a 7300gt, so I wonder, is this just my inaccurate perception or if it's indeed the case.

  • i have no idea wo it works with AMD, are you running a 64 bit version or 32?

  • 32 bit on laptop, 64 bit on stationary PC. The compiz performance is apparently higher on my laptop, although having just one core. But as said it runs sufficiently smooth on both machines. I am just stunned by the performance shown in this video.

  • hm, might have compatibility problems i guess, consider the 32 bit version some time...heck i wonder if its possible to have both 32 and 64 on your computer to test :P...

  • It should. Linux distros are a LOT lighter on resources than Vista. I have a Core 2 Quad 2.83GHz, 4GB RAM and nVIDIA GTX260 and Ubuntu FLIES on that thing! Vista takes up 40% of my memory when it loads (including all my security apps + aero). Ubuntu only uses 18%, and that's with an animated dock, large high quality icon sets and all the graphics settings essentially maximized.

  • 4 GB then you must be using the x64 bit ubuntu right?

  • You can technically run an x86 OS with 4GB of memory, but you will only see 3GB of usable memory. This is a limitation of 32-bit architecture, and its OS-independent. But yes, it makes sense to have 4+GB of memory when running x64, so pretty much everyone does.

  • Yes I know I was just saying if you were using the x64 bit ubuntu thats all.

  • when they will run the games and install the programs. until then: W windows 7?

  • i know its fast but , no games work on it or you need to do some things to let it work :(

  • Test your super-ultra-g*d-d*mn-m*therf*cking OS in a real environment.

  • I HAVE THIS OS N I LUV IT :D

  • This is really a nice O/s.

There is two things I can't figure out at the moment. One is the monitor I have does not support Extended Display Identification Data. Optiquest Q71 is the monitor. I can't set resolutions manually but works fine on a newer monitor.

The other is I can't browse my Shared files on the network. All others pc's have Windows XP pro and they work.

Anyone want to help me with this?

  • Nice - but funny how it's always point and search through the menu.

I can launch more stuff, a lot faster, using gnome-do and shortcuts!

    ctrl F = Firefox 'Shiretoko'

    ctrl G = Firefox 3.6

    Super T=terminator etc.

Interesting Video, looks like someone playing but doesn't really have anything to do...

  • thats sweet i love linux, were did you get the wallpaper?

  • arch linux or gentoo linux more fast »( ubuntu ) but ubuntu rock ;)

  • Sure, it looks nice. Runs a lot better than windows ever would. But how extensive is the compatibility? I know that there is WINE for running exe files but will that be able to run games? Or any program that would run in Windows?

I'd easily switch over if I could run games and all the programs I want in ubuntu.

  • it runs wow :)

  • go get XFCE, it's faster than gnome ;P

  • its true, but its more basic. for low computer desktop, remember linux its for all.

  • what application did you use to make this screencast?

  • awesome

  • "Linux for human beings" Ubuntu.

  • i am mac user currently, have used dos windows ubuntu fedora mandrake debian and lost of others. I am pretty sure there are lots of others who are more experienced than me but, in my opinion I like ubuntu the best. The only problem when I was using it was that it just was not going to sleep. I wanted to try something new and I didnt know so got a mac, besides I wasnt the one who was paying for it :) I

  • why would you get a mac. mac's locks you into over priced hardware and charge you for unix when unix is a free OS. windows at least lets you have the freedom of hardware. you should have got a pc put unix/linux on it and just set the style to a mac like style and you would have saved a lot of cash. windows and mac software will run on linux and unix. KEEP YOUR CASH

  • as I said I wanted to try it myself and decide it by my own. Again as I said, I was not the one paying for it and even if I was who cares. You cannot tell me what I should have done and bought, I got it tried it and have my "own" opinion. I donot need your lecture on free OS and linux. By the way Unix is not a free OS, but Linux is. GET EDUCATED.

  • solaris is free. that is a unix operating system. But unix in general is not free. and enabling these effects actually slow down your performance, but still much, much, much faster than windows vista with all the gay proprietary effects. most of the effects are useless. some come in handy

  • BSD is free also. Mac is based on the UNIX (BSD) architecture if i am not mistaken.

  • ajatkinson2004 you are 100% correct apple could not make a good OS so they used OpenUnix and put a shitty GUI on top of it. and then put a price tag on it. in doing that apple is more evil then Microsoft. at least Microsoft kinda made some of there code and the rest they buy out. but in the end with windows at least windows runs on everything mac OSX will only run on there hardware and gives the user no freedom.

  • Windows 7 will be much nicer than Vista, tho. But I wanna see a Ubuntu installation that can (without emulating it like with WINE) execute .exe-files and such, just like Windows. So I could play all the games I wanna play and so on. Watching films on Linux is way better than on Windows. But I'm a C# amateur-programmer, so I'd need a Visual C# Express Linux-Edition from Microsoft to be able to work :/

  • Wine isn't an emulator; wine allows linux to directly execute .exe files. Wine is reimplementing the win32 API on top of Linux. Programs run through wine should theoretically run just as fast as on Windows (in practice, it varies; sometimes wine is faster at something than Windows, more often Windows is slightly faster, check each app individually)

  • zadigjaja please never speak EVER. you clearly do not know what your talking about and you are going to make an ass of your self. you could have at least tried to give real facts before trying to talk up to people that clearly know more then you. show some respect by at least researching, even for one hour would have been nice before making a complete fool of your self.

  • cool down buddy, please read my first post and cool down. a guy that confuses linux and unix have no right to say these to me :) All I said was, i liked Ubuntu the best, you start a discussion, blame and flame, cool down.

  • Mac OS is OpenUnix and OpenUnix is FREE!!!!! out of all the OS's out there Mac is the only one with out a virus scanning software as i remember. leaving it open to attack but there market share is so small that who would bother attacking it. the real cash is in windows. but if mac ever got to the size of windows it would have a harder time being that they take longer to update in comparison to windows and Linux.

  • you preffer mac, nice. I preffer Linux. Why? because yes. nice!

  • i hate mac, i love linux. please read before you comment i would never let a mac enter my home. linux runs all my stuff. with linux i can get the best of the computer world with out having to pay an arm and a leg for it. and mac hardware is crap that breaks and is over priced.

  • i cant find any adobe flash player drivers on ubuntu 9.04 for like youtube or anything, did anyone else find one?

  • Have you gone to add/remove programs and searched "flash" or "adobe"?

  • well when i first installed I did, but i havent tried it since then. i will reinstall it though.

  • It is available on adobe website. when you visit the website make sure you choose ubuntu 8.04+ as your operating system and file with .dbe format. I did it on my machine today. works cool.

  • from terminal

    sudo apt-get install gsfonts gsfonts-x11 flashplugin-nonfree

  • add/remove would get flash for you but with html5 and css3 flash will no longer be needed once all browsers are compliant with the new html5 and css3 standers (when they finish the standers) firefox has most of html5 and css3 as of right now.

  • ubuntu is soo damn fast and i don't get any stop responding messages.,...just wish it had more driver support and could play games like crysis at enthusiast

  • I thinker 8.10 is slower than ehmz hardy :O

  • If you wanna go real HARDCORE :D use Debian :D

  • best distro

  • Cuz, it have terminal... ;D ssh and other stuff

  • Wow, looks neat. Too bad Ubuntu doesn't work with my very basic linksys wireless 54g network card. It connects to the network, unfortunately at about 2% strength as opposed to 92% on XP. Oh well, I guess you get what you pay for.

  • lol, so it doesn't work on that specific card. maybe you should have looked it up before installing? :P

  • Oh, and where can I get that desktop background? I like it.

  • And we have your video showing in Second Life at the Ama Gi sim.

  • Hey man nice demo,

Question, when you did the task switching (such as the view all windows/alttab switcher) how did you get the compiz to let you pick from all the windows and not just the ones on that current desktop? Usually what i get is the ability to only switch between windows on that desk, not all the desks...how did you do that? Thanks

  • Oh my god. That's what I call hi perfomance. What machine do you have?????

  • Ubuntu is so amazing, i've tried out 9.04, but i don't can't find any drivers for graphic card for example. please help me

  • what is your ubuntu version, and what is your graphic card=?

  • Recently i installed Ubuntu 9.04 Jaunty Jackalope and i've a Nvidia 8600 GT.

Is there any special website for linux drivers?

  • It automatically finds them and installs them for you. You only need to press the button "activate" in hardware drivers window.

  • OK, this sound easy, but i don't even can install my Internet. :(

  • first of all, don't use "don't" with "can't" in 1 sentence, isn't nice ;P then you say "do not can not" <- you see?

okay, for your problem, you for yourself don't really have to install your Internet, Linux does it (at least tries it). If you have any questions on this, just go to Ubuntu Forums and look for some topics about Internet-Installation, it'll help you ;)
