Florence Mills was a black entertainer who recorded two songs for Victor (RCA) on December 12th 1924.These were un-numbered 78rpm test, and copies are known to be in the hands of Jazz collectors. The songs are "Dixie Dreams" and "I'm A Little Blackbird Looking For A Bluebird" from the show ("Dixie To Broadway"
Hi! I am teaching a History of Broadway Dance course which includes Florence Mills. It was my understanding that, sadly, there is no footage of Mills. Where was this film taken? I would so love to include it in my course if I could get some verification.
This is Pete March writing leader of the Bert Firman Midnight Follies Band and completely enyoyed the film production, it takes me back to before I was born?
Duke Ellington wrote the piece "Black Beauty" in tribute to Florence Mills after her death. She was apparently one of the "greats" of dancing in the early 20th century.

This wonderful song, "Silver Rose" was kind of a tribute to Florence's own mother, a laundress.
