Huge turbos however might sound cool. I was hoping for 5 cylinders just in case they sounded similar to V10s (think about how the Audi RS3 and Ford Focus RS sound like the Dodge Viper)

right, the decision on the engine configuration is based on the SOUND it makes. yeah... that's very engineering like..... the best engine is the one with the least number of cylinders for a given horsepower, without sacrificing the performance. it takes a great deal of engineering work to get the horsepower --originally achieved on a V12--on a V6. there's a reason why we only watch the race on youtube and not designing the F1 engines. Performance over aesthetic!
Back in the days, when formula one was about pure driving, about real speed. Not DRS KERS overtaking but just pure driving skills. No overtaking on the straight. When engines sounded nice, and where there was pure competition, where drivers wanted to take risks. Now only schumacher, kubica en petrov are taking risks.

@H3Forge I totally agree! I NASCAR is cool because it's a contact sport, but I just can't watch cars go in circles all day. Although with the lame 2013 changes coming to F1 there are going to be a LOT of new NASCAR fans.
I do understand how the circle concept can be tedious, but it gives 3 wide close action, but road course is awesome too. I fucking love both F1 and NASCAR

Okay, now I like F1 and NASCAR the same amount, but the engine sound is close.
I like the F1s high pitch roar, but the NASCAR engines just sound dirty(in a good way)

@H3Forge I totally agree! I NASCAR is cool because it's a contact sport, but I just can't watch cars go in circles all day. Although with the lame 2013 changes coming to F1 there are going to be a LOT of new NASCAR fans.

I do understand how the circle concept can be tedious, but it gives 3 wide close action, but road course is awesome too. I fucking love both F1 and NASCAR

@H3Forge There's nothing like the convoluted road courses, but you do have a point about oval track, you can keep an eye on your favorite car the whole time, not just for 1 sec per lap as it passes by in a blur...
