  • ... this could get really annoying to me really fast...

the dbz artstyle isn't helping either...

  • @UltraPenguinx3 then why are you on this video

  • @gmterminater maybe i was looking through the top 100 rpg battle music countdown? =__=

  • The final boss is hard man!!!!!!!!!

  • Dragon quests stories werent never that complex but at least it was easy to understand the whole plot.

BTW Koichi Sugiyama is such a gifted person for producing such beautiful tracks for the DQ saga like this one. I cant wait for the Symphinic Suite of DQIX

  • i think the sotry begins simple, but start to get complex and complex as the game goes on. but they are still understandable, not like ff's, in which you had to, literally, study the plto to understand it

  • @cyberithiro not really complex just more plot twists. awsome plot twists lol

  • Turn the music off and play music of your own?

  • Doesn't worth it I'll just sell it so that someone who might like it could play it as he/she wishes

  • Kids these days don't seem to know how to unplug the audio cords from the T.V and plug something else in....

  • you heard the whole soundtrack within 5 minutes?

  • Even after hearing this the thousandth time, still I wasn't bored with it.

  • One of the best games eva!!! If not, THE best game eva!!!

  • Cool song.

Didn't liked the game, too old school to me.

Not that it sucks, just no my style.

  • This game is delightfully old school we should be appreciative that Dragon Quest always sticks to its roots no matter what the time. and you cant beat the length of this game. and IMO always had the best sense of exploration i could wander around the world map for hours, often times just to listen to the theme that plays.

  • u can beet the length of this game.i spent 120 hours on FF1 max leveling, and 75 max leveling in this one. i spent 50 minutes killing all of lavos's forms in chrono trigger, and 20 minutes killing the final boss of this DQ8. i spent tons of time( 1 hour :P) getting all the endings for KH2, there isnt even a second ending in this game (that i no off) i will admit that it was fun just wondering around though :D

  • Lavos doesn't take 50 minutes unless you were trying to suck. If that was the case, mission accomplished!

  • at lvl 15 he does.

  • That's because you were never MEANT to go anywhere NEAR max level in FF1. You wasted your time.

  • your point? i have goals i set when i play RPGs, and one of them is max lvl by the time i beat the game.

  • You were using "time it takes to max level" as a point for the length of the game. That's not a valid metric. That's my point. You can do what you want, but when a game isn't even DESIGNED for that purpose and came before the idea even sparked in most RPG players' minds... you can EXPECT it to take forever to max level.

  • there are several games that u can expect it to take forever to max lvl, and thats the point. most games are not desingned like that, and this is one of them. this game was designed for story and gameplay. the story was cheesy and is overused, and the gameplay is just like many other RPGs, meaning that there isnt much new to expect.

  • Disgaea Level 9999. LOL you don't even need that for Baal the strongest guy in the game

  • now the story is cheezy, but i felt the gameplay was very unique, not many RPG have what this game had, just like rouge galaxy.

  • I prefer the max level to be out of reach, that way i know I wont run into a dead end

  • isnt it strange that I randomly found one of your 2-month-old comments?

  • That is sort of strange!

You'll find me arguing with folks on a lot of the video game music comment sections. I'm also a lot less civil when not dealing with the folks within our little gaming community... because the people outside of it are far less civil themselves.

  • It's kinda sad that there is no purpose : /

  • Wow this is what the DQ8 battle theme? Man this sounds so oldschool 70's anime. That's great.

  • Man, where is Rhapthorne's theme?! His theme was the greatest and so was the fight. Intense.

  • i played this game so much my mom got sick of hearin the music so i got kickd out of the livin room and had to put it in my room

  • lol it was the other way for me, i had to kick her out of the living room, only i didnt let her take the ps2 with here :P

  • @subfuzion heh, thats why you use headphones like I do

  • @subfuzion

    Same here.^^

  • Ha-ha! This game was tough (and boy, is it ever) and the music sounds like a broadway musical theme from the 50's. It sounds good but after so much random battles, I got sick of it rather quickly.

  • I have to admit, the beggining boss battle with the crystal ball saga part was boring, but by the time you meet Jessica, it gets really fun!

  • Very DQ-esque. Almost like hearing old 8-bit orchestrated.

I've never played DQ8, but I do love this a great deal.

  • one of the best rpg i´ve ever played x3 respect for the design akira ^^

  • I just finished this game for once, and I gotta say... This is one of my favorite modern RPG now ~ ^^ ~

  • this game was awesome it really loosenend me up when i was getting jaded and bored of games.

  • we're talking about music here !

    Don't complain unnecessary thing.

If u beat the game ...be able to enjoy all the fun of the game ! i bet u won't say the word : Boring!

  • This game is excellent. So are the tunes.

  • This game kicks ass! I finished it and the Dragovian Trials bonus area.

  • i always thought this song was a little too over the top.

  • What insturment is that at :12 to :15?

  • violin

  • It's kind of interesting that this music is pretty much an orchestra recording. Makes you wonder whether or not they have to recruit musicians to make music for video games. Personally, I'd sign right up.

  • Name the top 10 RPG games for you.

Because you didn´t like this and you didn´t like FFVII. I would just like to know.

You don´t need to tell me if you don´t.

  • well i'm agrre with him, I espect much from this game but it very disipoiting me....boring story only good in this game was humor and Akira picture

  • glad u have this in your list :) very impressive song

  • The music of this game sure was great, although i never beat it.

  • yep, same here. I probably played it halfway through but then it was getting boring after a while. Now I want to know what happens XD

  • ...i should find this game again, lol

  • O_O

  • This game was hard Im not gonna lie

    The bosses are tough

    and I enjoy that =)

  • this game was very well made the story and the music and graphics were all well done it also stics to the roots of the old dragon quest for the most part however i do wonder why in all dragon quest games the characters look like dbz characters

  • because they are concepts by the creator of Dragon Ball (Akira Toriyama).

  • The character artist is Akira Toriyama, Dragonball creator, that is why :)

  • I hope you're aware this is two songs. You probably are, mind you, but I figured someone needed to point this out.

War Cry (first half) is normal battle theme

Defeat The Enemy (2min+) is the boss theme.

  • dq8 was teh 1st dq game i played and i absolutely fell in luv w/ it ^_^ dq8 FTW!!! xD

  • I loved this game so much. Played it at wal-mart for 5 minutes and decided to get it. At first I hated it because it was so hard, but that's what made me love it so much. You could train forever and it would still take forever to level up and the battles would still be tough. There are so many extra things to do in this game. 70 hours in and my characters are only lvl 40 and I've barely forged any of the items. Def one of my top 10 games of all time.

  • Dragon Quest music always gives me goosebumps. The good kind.

  • loved the song... but the game is soooo fucking hard...

  • no not really just know what your doing

  • harder than all the rpg's i've ever played. way more level grinding.

  • The only times you should need to grind in DQ8 is for the first boss and the endgame. Aside from those parts, the game is actually rather average difficulty wise.

  • and Dhoulmagus (probably spelled wront sorry)

  • something of the best i have ever heard.
