  • BBQ ya gotta love it!

  • Great tips from a veteran. And let it be said that good BBQ is not PC. They need to stop "pussy-footin" around and get you your own bbq show on TV.

  • Can I come around for dinner?

  • @MisterBung Anytime Mate

  • @MisterBung You did not say, "non-union"? I'm sorry but UNIONS are part of what is wrong with the idea that people should always have a RIGHT to WORK in EVERY state...

  • 4:05

    It's false, it's wrong. FAIL.

    that's the best part

  • The one person that hit 'dislike' on this video must really like making shitty smoked BBQ.

  • @Porthbot They boil their meat 1st Hahahahaha

  • Awesome! All great tips but when you make another video can you say 'Chicken hawk' ? :D

  • I wish I wasn't born a Yankee and that you were my free-wheeling uncle. You're totally on top of your craft and I say that as a professional cook, I've never been more impressed by a youtube cooking video.

  • @mattcgoulding Thanks Matt, I enjoy cooking as a hobby. Ifin it was a daily job, it would just be a job

  • @007bondjb

Well you're doing it right. keep it up, this video was a breath of fresh air. You don't often see someone who understands food and how it gets to your table.

  • Preach on JB

  • I see you let Hawgfathers use this vid on their site JB. Sweet, you be famous soon boy!

  • CT AFSCME Council 15

  • Thanks for the tips. Learning a great deal from your words of wisdom. Love all the videos.....keep 'em coming.

  • BBQ=Slow & low - that is the tempo!

  • sounds like FogHorn LegHorn!

  • hell yeah!!! dont be non-union

  • You sir are my hero. Thanks for the tips!

  • This guy is awesome

  • liquid smoke's verboten on steaks or meats you're grilling, but it has a few uses. It adds a really nice smokiness to chili.

  • Do you recommend always using water in the water pan when using a vertical smoker? Is not using water a no no?

  • Water in the pan is a heat buffer & a waste of fuel. It helps hold the temp down low. If you can control the temp without it just put sand in it, covered with foil. Ask the same question at BBQ central...

  • Briquettes or lump charcoal? WSM manual says briquettes.

  • Which ever you prefer, Try each seperatly on 2 cooks

  • BOYYeeeeeeeee!

  • JB, you the man!

  • i love this guy! tha's so great!

  • Thanks for sharing your knowledge, JB. I really enjoy your videos. I'm a little scared of you...but you sure know your smoking! Have you ever used seasoned (over a year) live oak chunks for smoking? I have tons of the stuff. Thanks. Your friend in Covington, LA.

  • What you scared of?

I have used oak before, its great on beef

  • 4:34..+..5:24...Epic! :D

Thank you for a gr8 vid, good tips and going to put it all together this summer!

(You said your not a big fan on 'fancy rubs'.. have you a good simple rub, for all meats??)

    Thanks.

  • I use S&P on burgers & steaks,

on pork & chicken I use Wolfe rub which is kinda like KC Masterpiece BBQ Seasoning. KC aint as sweet so add some tubanado suger to it

  • Great video JB. External thermometers rock.

  • This is a great video, thank you.

  • Greatest BBQ video, EVER! You rock, JB. Entertaining video and spot on, with your advice!

  • what kind of wood do you use ??????

  • Hicory sometimes mequite

  • shit i use a gas grill with hickory wood pluse i par boil my ribbs first god i suck !!!!!!!i need to turn my union card in !!!!!!!

  • Gas is ok if you have a way to add real wood smoke, (pan over a burner ect...)

But don't boil em. Pork spare ribs will take about 4 to 5 Hours @ 275 to 300 deg.

Baby backs about 3 to 4 hours.

I should have mentioned never marinate pork in a salt solution. The meat will taste hammy. Simply use a dry rub & sauce ONLY in the last 30 min's or less. Yall should also turn down the heat to 225 after saucing

  • Damn JB... your smoker is older than ma. *sigh* Good video, full of information and nicely put together. 5 stars
