  • Such a beautiful voice.

  • He is so talented and he makes my heart melt I love you papa Nez

  • mike isso talented. He has a beautiful vioce. He is so good looking nad sweet.

  • See I guess I'm just an oddball. Everybody always liked Davy, but I always thought I would've liked more like a little brother. Mike on the other hand I would've giggedied his gashmoigen...lol!

  • what a man. what a song. I've never felt this way before!

  • This song was written by Buffy Sainte Marie, and has been recorded by ALOT of singers., makes me wonder do you know if it was Mike's choice to record it or the producers?

  • Love his hair LOL

  • This is a really lovely version of this song. I hadn't realised how beautifully Mike Nesmith sang. It was always Micky and Davy who stole the limelight in the Monkees but it seems Mike was the truly talented one. The quiet one!!

  • He's sexy

  • @ThePinkFloydPortal Stu Phillips also conducted the "Hollyridge Strings" . The Hollyridge Strings produced many instrumental albums of the Beatles, Beach Boys, The Four Seasons, Simon and Garfunkal and Elvis.

  • I love this song and I love your video!! Thank you for putting this together, I play it often. Do you have "How could you kiss me?"

    NEZ RULES!!

  • OMG I LOVE THIS!!! <3 why doesn't youtube have a love button???

  • Thank you for sharing this. I am loving finding Nez songs I have never heard before, and this one is truly beautiful.

  • I never knew Michael Nesmith recorded this song until finding it on YouTube. My goodness, he does such a fantastic job of it. I listen to this over and over again. This sends me straight to heaven. Does anyone know if this comes on a CD?

Thank you so very much, NezHEAD, for putting this together.

  • Am rediscovering Mike all over again, wonderful talent, thanks for posting this hadn't heard it before.

  • @andujan1884 Me, too! And I recently met Stu Phillips, who wrote & conducted most of the zany music from the Monkees! Found him right here on yt. Nez was sure a man of amazing talent as evident in this song! His music video 'Eldorado to the Moon' is my newest feature. I've compiled 700 playlists, an archive in tribute to the best of a century of pop music from around the world, where 112 playlists for every year since 1900 let you listen as if you've stepped back in time. chuck

  • His voice is so sothing.

I could listen to this all day.

    What a talent !

  • didn't he record this under the name Michael Blessing?

  • Written by Buffy St. Marie, but there's an apostrophe in "it's" is it is the diminutive version of, well, "it is".

It's most certainly rare, but it's surely the only redeeming feature of this version.

  • it's to bad there is no other man with his voice looks and talen who is my age and is in love with me. that would just make my world.

  • THE BEST AND MOST TALENTED MONKEE!!!!!!!!!

  • where is "love immensely" button? NEZHEAD 4 LYFE

  • NezHead66 - Michael N. - of The Monkees - the pale melancholic, poet, sensitive romantic. I adored him and each Monkey, Peter Tork - ooooh so ditto - even more quiet and shy, and Mickey Dolenz - so snappy, pappy, funny, lovey, tying up those loose ends, just like Jack Black -- oooh, snappy sexy, and Davy Jones - every girls, first crush, including Marsha. But, the British import needs the most "steering," lest you forget, my feathered, fellow friends. Be a friend, love, peace.

  • never heard this one, beautiful!! Great video and song. how do i find it is there a c.d.name (album) this is from

  • never heard this one, beautiful!!

  • This is the dullest version I have heard of a great song.

  • His version is better than Elvis.

His soft voice along with the dynamic musical background is :

    AWESOME !

  • Great photos!

  • Mike was the only cool one in the Monkees.

  • Which album is this on?

  • He has so many good songs that it is hard to pick a favorite.

  • Oh my goodness, with the puppy at 0:32 ... how adorable is that?

  • I don't remember this one, but it is beautiful. Thanks for posting. :)

  • This version is the best

  • The most beautiful song i ever heard

  • I wrote it. you're all wrong.

    I WISH i'd written it.

  • Neil Diamond sings it also. I 'thought' ND wrote it. don't know.

Nesmith does a great job singing it.

    Thanks for posting.

  • Email me this song too!! Pleassee :)

  • I'll need your email address.

  • Ok, I'll PM it to you right now :) Thank you soooo much!

  • I just searched the song. It was written by Neil Diamond. Believe me, I would not post this unless it was a fact. Why does this bother me?

  • probably because you LOVE Neil as I do.

it kinda bothers me not knowing, jimsflet sounds like he knows what he's talking about, or he loves Buffy alot.

    or both.

I tend to think it was my ex Neil Diamond.

  • He wrote this one, too? I know this song. I know so many of his songs and always learn later that he wrote them. Amazing career.

  • Buffy Saint Marie wrote this song.

  • Wow, beautiful song! great video too, Nez is my fav Monkee :D

  • Sure! I just need your email too.

  • My 3rd favourite Monkee.

  • I like it just as it is...nice job

  • I like the "demo" version he did. it's on one of the Headquarters sessions collections

  • O M G....thought I loved this guy before but now...I think I have to just lay down ...or I may just swoon...wow...what a gorgeous sound.

  • This is one of the most beautiful version of the Buffy Sainte-Marie classic I've ever heard! WOW! Didn't know Mike had this in him! HA!

    GREAT! 5+ stars.

  • I wanted the 2:48 linked haha

  • I love the picture at 1:24 :D OHH and 1:44 and 2:44 and 2:48. Nice job Ashley. :D Mike yay.

  • He had the best haircut! Love this song, don't know what to say...

  • I was looking for the Elvis version, and instead, found this gem. I'm so glad that I seen it. Thanks for posting!

  • I've been looking for this one for ages, too! Thanks for sharing!

  • I've been looking for this one. Great!

  • Aw, I love this song. =D

  • Oh my word... That song... Those pictures...

Excuse me, I must go mop up my heart, it seems to have melted.

  • Same here =D

  • I've always thought that Mike Nesmith and Denny Doherty sounded quite alike. This is one example of that, IMHO. Love both! Sometimes, especially back in the 60's, they even looked a tiny bit alike in the face, too.

  • Words fail me.......no they don't, absolutely beautiful.

  • There are tears running down my face. Always loved this song, rarely have heard it. Just found Youtube. Thank God it's here. It fits so perfect into my life right now., every word describes a story in my life, recently ended. It's hard to hear it, but my heart has to listen. Thank you so much for posting!

  • I'm crying too lol....it's just such a beautiful song...

  • I Love this Song.

Its Just Written Lovely and Just so Haunting.

  • Wow, Nesmith has a great voice!

  • Thank you for this great version by a great artist... I love it

  • Bobby Darin does a great vesion of this song.

you should listen toit. I'm a big MN fan and love his music..

  • Where did you find this version? The only one I ever heard was from the Headquarters Sessions...

  • My friend sent me a cd with a bunch of early Nez stuff. I'm not sure where she got it. I'm sorry.

  • One of my favorite little trivia items on MN is that his mom honestly truly invented Liquid Paper; aka, Wite-Out. Made her millions, about half of which she left to her only son, Michael. Luv it.

  • I love this song. I think I first heard Shirley Bassey then Neil Diamond. I think this is

very good. Rio is a belter!!

    onchanal

  • I've loved this song for so long, by Elvis and Buffy Sainte Marie, the song's creator. Nesmith does a great job. Neil's verson also good. Hey, maybe it's impossible to do a bad version of the song. Charmed!

  • Even the Lettermen did this song. It is a cool little secret, isn't it?

  • Yikes, I remember the Lettermen as well. Again, a testimony to their good taste in selecting timeless songs.

  • I have a DVD about The Monkees, I bought it in 2003, and a clip of this song is on it, which I thought was a beautiful song. I believe Neil Diamond covered this *ponders*, I'm sure its on one tape my mum has, it's not as powerful as this version tho they are the only two versions I've ever heard. Plus Mike has a huge fan here :D

  • This was not an "Elvis song". It was first written and performed by Buffy Saint Marie.

  • OMGGGGG~ I love this version!! THANK YOU SO EFFIN' MUCH!

  • This is originally an Elvis song? crazy but I love it like this.

  • This is one of my favorite Elvis songs and I came across this while looking for his version. When he sings it the beginning lyrics are...Your not a dream your not an angel your a woman, I'm not a king I'm just a man take hand...I like it better that way. I use to watch The Monkees in reruns when I was a kid and yes Mike was my favorite :)

  • great!

  • Well it doesn't really matter, your video clip is just wonderful. A great tribute to Mike Nesmith.

  • Oh I forgot to add, I love that little video clip at the end of Mike eating the pretzel. I think that was from the Chaparone episode. It was kinda like a final bow.

  • The version of this song on Headquarters Sessions is just wonderful. Although I do like this version as well. But that one has Mike playing an accoustic guitar nothing else. But I do agree Mike's voice is just lovely singing this song.

  • Oh I love that version too. I would have made the video with that version, but I didnt get the HQ Sessions until after I already made this one.

  • I love the Headquarters version the best!

  • another sunday another Papa Nez video moment xxxxx excellent

  • Yes, buffy saint marie... this is another song that should have gone on an album.... why do i feel that there's still even more stuff like this out there....

  • Cause there are three Missing Links albums full of songs that weren't put on albums?

  • I'm aware of them, I have all three! But there seems to be even more...

  • I'd buy a fourth Missing Links. :-D

  • song written and originally done (i think) by buffy sainte marie

  • Excellent, Ashley!

  • Just what the world needs a good video of nessy on a sunday morning. Your videos are truly brillant and i just love old woolhat xxxxxx

  • The Monkees were just so gorgeous. What beautiful brown eyes Nez has!

  • I like all pap nez stuff, but i dont have that one, what year what LP or CD these days

  • I love the videos you create, you are very clever and Mike Nesmith is gorgeous.

  • his voice is so lovely and mysterious. so underrated as a vocalist. he hits notes i never knew existed. i wish someone would make a video for "little red ryder" and "beyond the blue horizon."
