There is evidence that you do go somewhere after you die but it is only better if you have been born again. I am sorry for your loss and I do wish you all the best. But it sounds like the religious stuff was not accurate or based upon the truth of what God is which is based on his word the Bible.
Funeral is for Family/Friends not the dead. It is closure for all concerned. (Mortician says"Here lies So-n-so, she is in a box about to be worm food. Her life was a waste and she was a drugy who died of a overdose. We are all better off now. Granny the the guy in the expensive robes you requested was busy doin missionary work, sorry.")<--Better Really?Funeral ARE to make people feel better and remember the GOOD things about the one who died. If you can't do that then don't go just send regards.
@PuciferSam How about talking about the good things about the individual without mixing in a bunch of nonsensical religious fantasy? It's not choice 1. talk smack about the dead or choice 2. Jesus-ify everything. There are other options besides BS & irrationality.
Sorry you lost a past friend. God is a scapegoat for weaker minded people to have a reason and a rhyme for how reality/life works. I'm not religious and don't look down on people that are. That said, Yes deal with reality and our unknowns instead of blind faith. Rad T-shirt " I don't trust anyone with imaginary friends" and has a cross. Also- I lost a lot of respect once so many lights had been shown on various religious sexual abuse.
Well what I don't understand is how that, you're a can-do person, why you haven't insulated the garage—it could be heated almost with a candle, and in the Summer, would stay fairly cool
And 2, my Dad would buy tobacco and forego the children's milk—I've always thought that, tobacco, alcohol, or other licit or illicit addictions had nothing to do with salve for how that one felt but, everything to do with mere selfishness. And, isn't that more reasonable and more likely? And, I have smoked.
@phillipgaley Great idea. Why don't you send me the money to purchase the materials, while I ask the owner if it's ok to insulate *her* garage that I only temporarily stay in? & then I'll get right on it...
@rockstarofredondo What I've done, was to start at the bottom, between the vertical studs, stapling the cardboard to the studs, filling the space with wadded up paper; but, you could use some type of fire-retardant stuff—in cities, there's always some kind of building remodeling going on and they're throwing fire-retardant ceiling tiles, away, and sometimes, parts of rolls of insulation. A bike can facilitate your keeping track of the construction dumpsters in your area, . . .
@rockstarofredondo One time, I was in connection with this old bird in Montana, and neither of us having much money, but he wanted to build his wife a woodshed, and finding a shack in the woods, we took it apart, saving the nails and straightening them, and built the woodshed.
An important lesson in urban survival is that, you don't buy anything except tape or other fasteners, and sometimes, not even that.
As large pieces of cloth, at dumpsters near pub housing for the aged, sheets are usually
@rockstarofredondo . . . . available because the older people are always dying and leaving their sheets—pin these sheets on your walls and ceiling—even if you do not in other ways, insulate. Plus, the sheets can be used when you move onto your own property; you can form them up and painted, they will provide a semi-hard shell which will shed rain—it'll be fun, using what you've gathered on purpose, . . .
And yeah, your landlady doesn't want you to leave behind fixtured stuff for her to repair;
@rockstarofredondo . . . . for her to repair; so, the most important thing about short-term activity, is to have a long range plan—and in your situation—in conformance with that prophecy which speaks of the time coming in which "Every man shall sit in the shade of his own tree, and eat the fruit of his own vine.", a scene of safety and peaceful labor which most Americans appear to be quite resistant to, . . .
George Soros is in one YT video saying: "I know exactly where the dollar's going but,
@rockstarofredondo . . . . the dollar's going but, I'm not a liberty to say.", and from which is to be drawn that, dollars don't do anything but, he and his associates are doing something with the dollar.
So, no, the economy is not going to recover—not in the way in which that phrase is presently used; rather, everyone needs to be working their own plan.
Ayn Rand includes this thought in what is now referred to as "going Gault", and, was the kind of thing in parallel after the death of Solomon,
@rockstarofredondo . . . . after the death of Solomon, when Rehoboam(?) instituted the cruelty of administrative evil, and the men said: "To your tents O Israel, what part or lot have we with thee.", and the kingdom became divided, later to be broken up, lasting until this recent day, . . .
But as is to be seen of the Occupiers, a great many Americans are not ever going to awaken and go Gault, but rather, will be seen, perennially howling for the govt. to do something for them, . . .
I think you've got a valid point, that people are full of shit, but I think the people who organized the funeral has a right to cope with their loss the why they know how to, and these pastors are part of it. If I were strongly opposed to their views and traditions, I would politely decline to participate and morn in my own way.
Most gatherings have religious overtones in our country, so being an agnostic or atheist can be pretty isolating. I understand your frustration.
I doubt if there would be any 'religious' leaders in the Resource based economy being advocated by the Zeitgeist movement either.....people only really do it because it's a 'job' and everyone must have a 'job' to live in this system. I think a religious person can justify the lies by feeling they are doing something good.
People are so unlikely to feel any need for drugs if we changed to the Resource Based Economy being advocated by the Zeitgeist movement....not only that there wouldn't be any drugs available anyway seeing as there would be absolutely no way for anyone to 'profit' from them.
Everything are lies in this world. The world has to lie with religion, politics etc etc to control people.... If they dont lie, the system will collapse. LOL. Fuck all these lies, i just want the truth..... no lies.
As long as science clearly states that you can't design and create matter from nothingness there is evidence all around us that God exists. The universe didn't design and then create itself by this basic scientific principle.
@mookixox Ok, so the Higgs Boson is God? I don't think what you are calling God is what most people would think of as the personal God of the Bible, the God you are talking about could be everything from a computer simulation that we are in but unaware of like the video game "The Sims" or this God could be the Higgs Boson, or it could be Gravity that leaked from another Universe, or it could been quantum fluctuation. You make the fundamental error of assiging God to an unkown phenomena.
@valhala56 I've made no such claim that God is a 'Higgs Boson' and there is a reason they call the field 'theoretical particle physics' ergo it's unproven. Science clearly states you don't have physical matter being created from nothingness. We learned this basic truth when we were 3 yrs old, why is it so easy to shrug this principal off as adults? This universe was obviously created by design and not random chance. For anyone to assert there is no designer,is being unscientific with themselves,
@mookixox How do you know there is the God of the Bible? You have no proof, only your faith. You say the Universe is your proof but again & read carefully the next words, "You make the fundamental error of assiging God to an unkown phenomena". In other words what you are calling "God" could be a lot of unproven things. Such as the Higgs Boson. Such as we are in a computer simulation & don't know it. Such as the result of a collapse of previous Universe, such as a Hologram. You don't have a clue.
I actually agree with a lot of this video... ( Hard to believe I know !! )....
I think the whole religion thing boils down to a simple fact....
It is very hard for anyone to accept that they are not really important at all, that in the end, the world will continue with or without you just the same...
Concluding that this is all we have, must be the first step to realising that:
Life is short and your a long time dead... So make the most of it....!!!
Well, of course it depends on the individual, but no, my experience has been that many of them clearly don't. And I've read accounts from people who talk about not believing any of that nonsense but feeling compelled to continue on with it either because they felt like people depended on them or because they just needed the job/paycheck.
I just wish people would let each other mourn, instead of explaining away everything.
Dear Rockstarofredondo, I love watching your videos. I personally don't care for funerals and don't think I will attend another one. But I don't like them because of all the ritualism. I would rather choose to honor someone who's life has passed or ended in my own way. In saying that though I have to tell you this. I am a believer in Jesus Christ and I have a strong faith in Him. My faith is the only evidence that He exists. I don't believe in "religion" , I believe in a relationship with my God
I went to my wife's uncle's funeral in august. We cut out ALL THE CRAP by having a home party with sun and food.He never wanted the EXPENSIVE and STRESSFUL funneral home crap.
The funeral homes always told us to spend lot's of money because they said it would make us grieve better. The TRUTH IS that 20 to 30 K makes them grieve better and stresses us out.HATE that industry and a rebellion has arrived.Cremation and home get togeters are the better way :0)
I dont believe in religion myself, but thinking about the principals of conservation of energy and how observation changes the behavior of matter and such it is theoretically possible that the belief of all these religious people actually creates an "afterlife" as it was.
Not saying I believe in it but I dont see any reason to take away their comfort either unless the religion itself is causing someone suffering or hardships.
Hell, half my family is crazy Jehovas witnesses 0_o
I'm with you rockstar.... bullshit since childhood starting with santa clause and progressing through the years until I now see practically EVERYTHING is infiltrated with crap. Just hang in there - it does get lonely in a world that hates truth.
to answer your question, you are completely right that priests know they are preaching lies. It might not be a truth they understand on a conscious level but certainly they harbor deep fears about the "afterlife". If they believed in what they say they would kill themselves to go to heaven. I mean, what are they waiting for? Paradise awaits. they don't because they know. Somewhere deep inside they know.
@niklasbastholmhansen On this priest's face I could see his lies & in his voice I could hear it. You know when you just see cowardice & shame in someone? That was it.
Yeah, I can imagine that. The worst thing also is that many small children in the church, that wanted to attend your friends' funeral will have listened to this priest and seen him/her as some figure of authority with the cape(costume) and all. So sad. I think most priests basically get through the day believing that they bring comfort through their lies.
You are probaly right, It is a bit contrived. Death-depressing reality. Death of a young person by overdose depressing. So as Christians they say something like "She is with Jesus" I actually had a woman say to me at my moms funeral,Your mom is up in heaven dancing : My mother was a double amputee,
