Chellsie Memmel balance beam 2009 nationals day 2

Elfi is so full of it sometimes ... saying she's impressed with what Chellsie is "throwing in her beam routine". without the standing arabian and the punch front with a half, this is a completely watered down routine for Chellsie, its ok but its nowhere near what Chellsie is capable of and i wish commentators would just acknowlede it.

Her start value is so low because she started training this routine 2 weeks before visas. She hadn't done beam for like a year. She didn't have time to get all of her skills back. I know this because i go to her gym...

Why are all the start values so low? At Olympic trials she had a start value of 6.9, right? Is it the new COP? And why do the judges seem to be scoring so low?

Yes its because of the new COP the start values are lower noe because now they only count the 8 most difficult moves and before they counted 10, also if u fall in a non-artistic move they wont count the move in your start value (I think). They want to make gymnastics more artistic.

exactly that is why they have made a rule that you can only do four tumbling passes on floor exercise now. They are trying to encourage the dance instead of doing a lot of tumbling to get a higher start value.
