dude, the ls development started in mid 2002 and it took like 5 yrs to implement it. Now think this logically, BMW had this 2yrs before lexus, now wouldnt u agree that the BMW started the development in 2000! And no, BMW did not copy Lexus, its the other way around, they had this technology in Germany 2 yreas bak, but they didnt make a big deal out of it like Lexus to make more sales. Plus if you cant park, then u shouldnt drive. The Germans are probably overall the best drivers in the world...

believe it or not, lexus uses a completely differnt algorithm than BMW. BMW bought the right to use it from a differnt company, that only creates technology. Lexus relies on sensors and a camera. BMW uses lasers to determine if there is enough distance between two cars. This system is much easier and much better.
I hope this thing has a object detector looking rearward as well. Otherwise I'd hate to step out into the street behind the car or pull up behind in in another car.
