We played this song last year for a music festival, same Anthony Carter arrangement. Our clarinet soloist nailed her part, no squeaks like this, was awesome :) But one of our bassoons dropped out for a moment. Nerve-wracking. We played the repeat and the bassoon player got it the second time around and after listening to the recording it really didn't sound that bad, he was out for maybe a measure or two. I like how I can listen to this piece and remember my cello part :) Good times.
Im a Middle School Trombonist for the Best School in my State 32 Years in a row now
and where playing this for full orchestra.
And we are alot better then these collage kids
there playing choppy and sloppily they overdo and under-do dynamics and there were alota wrong tempos goin on and alot of messed up notes outa the key sig.
Gee Ed - he has a point.....? Well, good for him! You see, I ALSO have a point, and since, at his tender 13 (allegedly) years of age, he has a LOT to learn. In which case his comment shows him up either as a know-it-all pain in the arse, or else a precocious prat. Either way, I would suggest firstly, his knowledge is severely limitied by his age, and secondly, his English STILL sucks, especially at his age.
As for your comment......at your alleged age...you should know better.
without going back over it, I think that comments was in relation to the Cajun Orchestra Halloween performance from U of L. It sounded like the Tube was just a touch intrusive, although someone pointed out it may have been the Bassoon. Can't remember the Minutes-seconds pos in the performance, and CBF looking at this late hour. My son't got absolute pitch....I don't, so I'll confer with him and get back to you!
Hard yes....impossible no. Practice will always take you from the point you are at to a new, higher point. Perhaps not perfect, but improvement is always possible!
I'm 13 and my school orchestra is currently playing this. We have tough teachers + we're prettty much a music-based school and I think it payed off, we sound really good.
Of course you haven't. It was worked out by the senior staff and selected students at At an Australian Private (as opposed to State run) School which focuses its curriculum toward music for those with potential.
The arrangement had to take into consideration the size of the orchestra and the varying capabilities of the performers, aged from 12 to 17.
It is not a facility for the prodigously brilliant, but for those with very solid capabilities (or potential for such).
Without actually seeing the U of L version I can't comment. But I wouldn't be surprised if they were better. University level (17/18+ year olds) vs 14/15 year olds does kinda suggest that. These kids pulled this together in less than 3 months - something else to consider.
twas a bassoon solo, if anyone plays a bassoon and plans to go anywhere with it that is the solo that you must audition with. Comment up top , 13 years old is young there are 3 lvls of this piece, our band is a superior with distinction group and we are playing the second lvl. tuba4life
i'm only in seventh grade......i thought it was spelled carnigie hall ....sorry T.T ...and i really am going.....i'm in the suzanne middle school chamber orchestra. XP
Hmmmm...I get the very strong impression that you may have deserved it kkFLASHBOYkk. Nobody, but nobody accidentally pisses off 19 people at once....unless he's a total dickhead.
Here's a clue, drop the flashboy handle, and probably the 'tude that goes with it.
Oh, and maybe smarten up a bit as well....after all, you ~ARE~ 21!!!
Clarinet... for the bassoon solo? What's with that? Sounds to me like you have a WONDERFUL Bassoonist.

the violins aren't playing marcato when they are supposed to... short and choppy, not long and fluffy...
the dynamics are all over the place too... you guys should have listened to the recording before playing this...

Can you give me a MM:SS?? I've got a couple of recordings of this and heard various versions under different batons. Interested in comparing.

Just had a look at the Cajun Orchestra Halloween performance from U of L. (I'm guessing that's the one).
Like I said....do the math between the respective ages.
Pretty good effort though - except the Tuba (I think) was too intrusive.
HURLEYP 4 years ago
Intrusive? Well he cant find the notes!
Bassoon's good!

Yeah....thought Bassoon as well, but looking at it ~really~ closely I figured it was the Tuba!
Still....could be wrong!
