I think he knew he was gonna die too. If you ever read any of the stories his mother Kathy put up on his facebook she mentions multiple times that he didn't think he'd live past his early thirties. Plus the album "By the Throat" had some very direct references to his substance abuse issues.

I hope he knew how much he touched all of us.

By The Throat was the album that bridged the gap and brought me back. It gave me faith that even if less than 1% of rap had some lyricism and emotion left, then it would be worth staying with.
