The first thing I noticed about this song was the rolling strings starting around 5:12 (as near-third-impact was starting). They match the strings in Komm Susser Tod (starting around 5:20 of that song) when Giant Naked Rei is sucking up all the souls for instrumentality during End of Eva. Leave it to Anno to bridge separate continuities with background musical elements.

And no, Giant Naked Shinji nobody. No one wants to see that (except Kaworu, and apparently Kaji...).
@lunardragon2001 I think it is more likely to be a sort of bizarre alternate reality sequel. Or someone went back in time, or something. This is EVA. People have been trying (and usually failing) to explain it for over a decade now.
And this is what I like about the rebuild series. They gave Shinji more character! He's actually a lot more likable in the rebuild series than he is in the original. Oh, and this is the best end of the world theme ever... just sayin xD

Think about it the reason why Shinji's phsynch level is so high is never explained, but if he was partialy made up of Misato's genes who was the closest to the second impact when it happened then it all makes sense. Also this would allow Shinji to marry Rei without it being inscest.
First off, that's pure speculation. There's no way to know that Misato's genes would have made him have a higher synch ratio, and the ratio can probably be ascribed to the fact that Yui is part of Unit 1.
Also, Misato would have been... 15... when Shinji was born. That raises a number of other problems. Even then, we are pretty much told that Shinji is Yui and Gendo's child anyway.
@thegameenforcer True but what if gendo managed to alter someone eleses genes with Misato's considering how far he had gone in End Of Eva There's nothing that Gendo could do that wouldn't surprise me. I just want a way for Rei and Shinji to be together without the morality issue of inscest a fan can dream can't he.

Anno had a lot of Freudian themes in mind when he made Evangelion. Rei and Shinji being close is a prime example of that. Sorry to crush your fantasies...

How is that amusing? 'Give me wings' may or may not be the correct translation from the original Japanese title, which is 'Tsubasa wo Kudasai.' Tsubasa (つばさ) means 'wings', while Wo Kudasai (を ください) can be translated as 'please give.' The song's most accurate title translation would be 'please give me wings,' which differs from the energy drink advertisement slogan that you speak of.
i know i'm probably going to get a bunch of thumbs down for this but when the core explodes and the song gets a lot more emphasis at the same time i think it may be at 2:55, my brother and i burst out laughing, idk why but i found that funny
