Bizarre casting...it's like they threw in Stewart and Hedlund to get that teeny bopper crowd. They seem oddly outclassed by the likes of Viggo, Riley, and Dunst.
For all those blasting the film because they have read a book, wisen up; Kerouak himself pushed for this to be made into a film starring Marlin Brando but his agent buggered the deal.
We shouldn't put a label on Kristen Stewart. But, no, she is definitely NOT a phenomenal actress, actually, she sucks at acting. However, I do believe in Walter Salles talent to direct Kristen.
He might fail (she is really, REALLY a horrible actress), but let's wait and see by ourselves.
The fact that they are making a movie of On The Road makes me sick to my stomach. When I found out, it was all I could do to keep from vomiting all over my laptop. Why do they have to turn everything holy into an hour and a half long corporate money making machine?
I was dreading the day they'd finally attempt to adapt a Kerouac novel, I don't think they're going to be able to pull it off, the thing which makes Kerouac so brilliant is his beautiful subtle description, he has a way with words which is so honest and sincere it really is beautiful and that's going to be close to impossible to translate to screen. Must say brilliant casting Viggo Mortensen as William S Burroughs and Garrett Hudland is a pretty good choice for Dean Moriarty.
@AKacunaBecomes I think that's what is most painful to watch with any book made movie, but especially Kerouac. So worried future generations won't take the time to recognize his beauty and talent.
@hazrdzne What will probably happen is because of some of the big name actors/actresses used a whole mess of people who would never have heard off Kerouac will go out and read On The Road and not really understand it but proclaim to love it all the same. It'll become one of those books that when you ask someone their favourite books they reply with that and you kinda roll your eyes at it, which is a damn damn shame.
@AKacunaBecomes Yeah, it'll be seen as pretentious. Like added to the books everyone should read and understand and enjoy, the classics: Fitzgerald, Hemingway, etc. Agree with you 100%
@hazrdzne Hemingway, so so much love for that man, not actually seen the adaptation of "For Whom the Bell Tolls", a little reluctant to as it is my very favourite book, same for the Unbearable Lightness of Being, I've heard the adaptation of that is pretty poor though, it's an old argument but so few books translate well to screen.
@AKacunaBecomes haven't read Unbearable Lightness of Being, but a friend of mine named his dog after the book! My english teacher has encouraged us to read more of Hemingway. We just finished Sun Also Rises and his style is very straight forward and tangible. Especially with writers like Steinbeck, in which he describes so much imagery and symbolism like in Grapes of Wrath: the slow movement of the journey was captured in his lulling writing style. It's impossible to capture his tone on screen.
@hazrdzne The dog in that was named after a Tolstoy novel haha, really do reccomend it though, it's a great book. I love The Sun Also Rises but it has nothing on For Whom The Bell Tolls, I could rant for days about how perfect that books is, I just started A Farewell to Arms a few days ago, really enjoying it. Hemingway writes how men think, or at least how men should think, and besides that he was an absolute bad ass haha, going out on benders with Fitzgerald, far too awesome haha
@AKacunaBecomes Yeah, I'll see how I feel about Hemingway after I read a few of his books, but I've always been a more die-hard Fitzgerald fan haha
If you've ever read Lillian Hellman's autobiography, apparently she and her other friends apart of the Lost Generation all associated with Hemingway. In her book he was portrayed as a chauvinistic arrogant prick! He writes what a man should think and with too much confidence haha maybe why he writes how a man should think?
Twilight is easily my fav books in the world, I just finished watching an early release copy of breaking dawn 1, check it out - bit.ly\Breaking-Dawn-pt1
It's very thrilling to hear positive vibes like this about this incredible movie. I know someone who worked on it, and let me tell you, it will not let any Kerouac fans down, it's going to be out of this world.
The only reason why i want to be rich is to see movies worth watching, and books worth reading like this one... i can't wait to find this book and watch this movie. i so love this... i know i will
@hazrdzne Fuck you, you pretentious ass, I've already read the book. And I'm sure that since people are aware of this movie's existence before its trailer has even been released means theyve probably already read the book too. Also, Kerouac wanted this novel to be adapted to film, so you people need to get over yourselves
@FuttBucker667 he wanted it to be a film? you got that in writing? he didn't even want to be considered leader of the beats, and the fucking publicity practically drove him into alcoholism.
the only point I'm making is that some people, of this generation probs haven't heard of it or won't take the time to read it once there's a movie, ButtFucker667.
@hazrdzne Yes, he did want it to be made into a movie. He wrote a letter to Marlin Brando, showing interest in him playing the part of Sal. You can find the letter online, if you'd like. And I'm pretty sure this movie will only boost the novels popularity. Look what happened with The Lord of the Rings.
I'm excited to see this film also! The novel was written far from my generation and I find it a hard read, but it is definately very interesting and captivating from an outsiders point of view.
@gdigger99 Thanks so much for the first comment for this video. I am very excited for this film and loved the book, huge fan, really hope you keep watching this channel and commenting its much appreciated, thanks, Tyrone

@thembrown Sure if they get Marlon to do it and Jack to over see production that statement certainly holds water.

@JCMIMPERSONATOR Sure, lets just ask Jack to oversee the production from his grave. I see the director getting a lot of good advice.
