I dont see why he has to say ''as a black man'',that is completely Irrelivent, but I love the show.I dont think this was meant to be a ratial show ,i just think they want the actor to apear to be african for the cultural aspects of the show.
I love the Cheetah tour. The young Simba in the clip is my son Robert, he and his twin Ryan made Disney's History by being the 1st in Disney's History to double cast the role of Young Simba. Lion King is an amazing show. It has to be one of the greatest shows on earth!
It's so AMAZING how they can make something like this!! This movie was amazing when is came out, but seeing this is just breathless! And i'v never seen the broadway musical, but it's looks so great!!!
i just saw my 1st broadway play in NY a few days ago, april 11th and it was the lion king. it was the best show i ever saw!! i felt like a lil kid in disney world lol. i also got a sign poster from the cast. it really was a great experience and the props were amazing!!
The show is amazing, but I think this Mufasa character is getting a little confused. Why does The Lion King represent a positive image of a black man taking care of his community??? Why do people bring race into everything?
That's the great thing about The Lion King - it is a very personal experience to each individual and what each of us get out of it is unique. His role represents being a strong leader of his family/community, which is important whether you are white, black, asian or any race. Rufus grew up in the predominantly black suburbs of Cleveland Ohio, which has a history of race riots, high crime and poor living conditions, so possibly for him he never saw this positive image that he portrays on stage.
Thank you. People usually reply to these kind of points with rude, pointless insults. I hadn't looked at it like that at all, and I suppose you're right. I heard "black people" when in fact he said "as I black man". Sorry, and thanks for sorting me out ;)
@getdownadam I know, I could not agree anymore with you, what does the lion kinb have to do with black men? This cartoon-based musical is way beyond any racial BS we can think about.
@getdownadam so what your trying to say is, if it was a white man playing the part of the lion in the play then it wouldn't be a racial issue? ha! puh-lease. how bout u just enjoy the video and YOU stop bringing race into everything!!
@hiimalexisniccole Watch the video. 2:47. I didn't bring race into it, it's already there. I questioned why the actor saw the character as a representation for a black man. I received an honest reply from lionking300 and I replied that I had misunderstood his interpretation. I don't think there's ever anything wrong with raising an issue you feel is wrong, but I also feel it's right to admit when you're wrong. I did that.
I like the lion king, because its not the type of play that people wont like if stagy stuff bothers them, it's the type of play that has something in it for anyone
I just saw this live not too long ago & it was so great! a very complicated production it was so very fantastic! I noticed that there where a few extra extended scenes and new songs added to the play maybe they where added to make the play more interesting & Happy New Year Every1! Thanks for the video lionking300 & again Happy New Year!
Well you see i got to go backstage 1 time when the the lion king came to memphis, and i got to talk to Dylan Jenet-Collins, who plays "Young Nala" she was so nice and i have to admit backstage is cool! i saw basically everthing. i got to meet Erica Ash, who plays Nala, i got to meet the cheetah, i got to meet ed, i aslo meet young simba. When i went backstage i saw alot of puppets , including the cheetah , which they named Cocoa! i saw the baby elephant puppet very cool! i aslo saw pride rock
The Lion King (Movie) came out when I was 3, me and my cousin watched it so much we actually damaged the Video! When the musical came out, I was utterly speechless at how fantastic it was..
I got to backstage like 4-5x when the show was a sit down production in L.A. I asked (begged) some castmembers and a dresser to take me backstage from time to time. It worked but I did see the show over 75x in L.A. so hanging around the stage door this number of times does get you some nice perks. :) I even got invited to a couple of private parties held backstage plus the final party after the show closed. It was totally AWESOME!
I just posted part 3 due to many requests. It's just a short interview with Gillian Kadish the costume supervisor but it's still great footage that show the uniqueness of the costumes. You can find the new video under the "related" link on the right or on my channel. Enjoy!
She sounds bored.
