One of the most beautiful songs ever written and sung with real feeling, it’s absolutely genuine and captures entirely the all too quick growing up for everyone and what it feels like for any parent. This is musical talent at its very best.
@nenblom If I remember rightly, Agnetha is a mezzo-soprano, and Anni-Frid is a soprano. Feel free to corrrect me if I'm wrong - my memory isn't brilliant.
I am just amazed at the quality of live performance shown here. Benny Anderson could afford the best backup musicians and production, and it shows. In some ways, I like this live version better than the studio version.
@HarpoSpoke it's nice to have a live video of this song. One of the rare TV occassions where ABBA were allowed to sing LIVE. This song is about her daughter.
As a parent this song has always pierced my heart. This upload is fantastic. It gives a vision to the feeling that has haunted me since I first heard the recording. My personal story haunts me.
@Curious142 My comment about this song and with Hanna Montana was a reflection on the quality of female singers today. It was supposed to be a joke. Look at my page and see all of the ABBA songs I've collected. But thanks for letting me know. Have a good night.
@B52sguy I figured as much. I was just having a little fun. I agree with you 101%. Thank goodness we have singers like Agnetha and Frida and groups like ABBA (from 30 years ago) to keep us entertained in the 21st century.
"thank you mother"..... is all i would like to say whenever i hear this song. RIP 6 years ago. And she provided me the BEST YOUTH I ever had in my entire life since from start when i first carry my School bag.
It`s not only the great music. The lyrics and words got directly into my heart and soul and this since about 30 years and still it did not loose the power and emotions. It`s fantastic. This is life- a really living music, to me.
It was a joint decison, they were in trouble for a year or so....It was a clash of big egos and they both said it was a relief when it finished, though very painful.
Oh Shay, finally I´m able to take a look in the news here, since I´ve been having hard days recently, and I´m surprised by several masterpieces of my friends! What sad song and, at the same time, so lovely! Agnetha shows a lot of emotion here, as usual! I Imagine the difficult for Aggy and Björn present joined executing this so emotional song when they already being divorced... Congratulations and thanks for the subtitles, my friend!
This song makes me think about the stage play Momma Mia! When you see the movie when it comes out next month you will see exactly what I mean! It is a very, very, touching part of the show. Everyone was crying during this song! Of course it would have been worse if Agnetha was actually singing it!
Very few artists have ever moved me so much as Abba-I watch this with tears rolling down my face as I watch this-they put their all into this classic and made it on a par with "It's Over" by Roy Orbison (another artist who sung from the heart) Thanks for posting Shay-although I must keep away from any rope for a while!
Its a spine tingling song for me too Bill, a moving performance considering it was the first time they did it live too. The big O, 'Crying' is a fav of mine
Well,I kept away from the rope-but it reduces me to tears each time-how did they manage to get through the song?-you cannot rehearse raw emotion like this-if Aggy and the big O had ever done a sad duet.............probably as well they never did!
Top notch Shay. Sometimes you wonder how they got through these songs when so much emotion was showing in their faces and voices. But that's why they were so great! another Fav.
That was a great performance and you could tell that the feelings were all there. Midway thru the video you see Bjorn catching a little look over at Aggy. Makes you wonder what thoughts are going thru his mind. Thanks Shay.
Wow, one of the reasons why I love ABBA so much, is that when Agentha and Frida sing a song, they really put their feels into the song. They perform as if they are feeling the pain/happiness/love etc. in the song!! You can see it on their faces and hear it in their voices!
It's just wonderful. God Bless all of the ABBA members.
Ive always liked this song, but to see it live is even better. Thanks for posting !

AGNETHA!! The voice of an angel, and the looks to match. I am SUCH a fan!!

@diapheneity Agnetha was possibly one of the most gorgeous women around when she was in ABBA,

I 've sent this song to both of my daughters when they had my grand daughters.

Thank you for this. I think this is possibly ABBA's most beautiful song.

The later Abba songs were much more mellow and lyrically interesting than most of their early disco - based songs

@B52sguy Hanna Montana?!! Ha!! She wouldn't even come CLOSE!!!! You are definitely right about this song. It's special!

@B52sguy Hanna doesn't even come close to being anything like Agnetha. They're worlds apart (in many ways).
