Jun Takeuchi (Producer) said that RE5 is meant as some kind of ending line. There will be a Resident Evil 6 though, but as he said he wanted it to be some kind of new start for the whole franchise. Don't know what he meant by that but I think that's definite proof that Resident Evil will continue.

Btw: I dont want to spoil it for you, but if you have played RE5, you might now that there is still a chance that Wesker will return. But I must admit that that would be strange^^.
