  • Very Nice Presentation Dr. Moonrat! I'm new to Adobe After Effects but already know I need a Green Screen.

  • what about avs video editor

  • I recommend a green sheet that you'd normally use for your bed, its more compact and easier to handle.

For software: Use Adobe After Effects. Import footage > Effect > Keying > Colour Key and select the color you want out, in this case green.

  • this has no anti-alias

  • great tutorial.

  • @drmoonrat what do u use to edit again?

  • Thanks Ted!

  • Thank u so much for this video. But do have more confidence in what u say. Maybe for artist it´s low quality. But for people who wants to explain something let´s say in a class or show a topic of knowledgment and publish on the internet but doesnt have the knowlegdment to do this effects easily and doesnt need too much quality, u r really helpful. So thank u for the video and sorry for the low english

  • you're outta step and your rhythem is off. Uh - your legs are freaky shaky what's up with that? I am not talking about your white-guy dancing but your legs are shaky

  • Is the edgy look because of blur settings? Some call it blur, but there is another word for it too. Actually its not a setting, its an effect.

  • You like the "real film making" no "computers" but you'll Shoot in portrait and Rotate? iv never seen a roll of film that shoots in portrait for video....

  • Great video, loved the montage. It looked like you had fun shooting it in Walmart etc :P I don't have a Walmart where I live, but I hope I'll find what I need in the store. Cheers!

  • my best color is BLACK

  • Ted Mosby

  • I just built a green screen in my dorm. I had a wall that was 8' by 12' that I wanted to make into a green screen. I looked into using the poster board but covering the whole wall would have cost too much. I found it was cheaper to use the generic 200 thread count green twin bed sheets. They cost $5 each and I was able to mount them with painters tape. I already had the painters tape but that costs only like $3 so in all it was about $13 and it covered 8' high on the wall and some of the floor.

  • no you are lying you like SE

  • BLUR THE EDGES!

  • they are cartolinas

  • You didnt mention anything about how you set up your lights here.

  • AH MY EYES! bad color.

  • this green screen is actually good, but his bad camera make the fuzzy edges

  • hahahha i dont need a green screen i have a green wall

  • im not sure like i get the green screen part but how and what software do i use?

  • @vunit123runescape Most any software now a days can do chroma key. On the cheap end you can use iMovie. It is cheap but gives you very little room to work with. Search for tutorials on YT.

  • When you make your videos, do you sit and script it out, or film everything and then edit it just right, orrrrrrrrrr? HM?????????

  • sony vegas is great?

  • right on never thought it could be so easy , thanks.from Denver Colorado

  • when you showed thoses people singing how did you make it so when it showed the fags bouncing away you like......idk just stayed there and didnt move with them 3:25

  • Thank you so much! I would've never thought of using the bright poster board!

  • No offence, but is this a tutorial on how to go shopping?

  • what editing program did u use?

  • @SageH0629 i didn't quite understand him either, but, i recommend Adobe Premier Pro ^^

  • better solution: paint a wall green o0.

  • @The007dinosaur lol problem solve

  • u look like ted moseby from how i met ur mother

  • Nice job

  • whats the softwear that u use

  • ........that cost you 12 bucks? hmm....well, that means, considerig the size of what I need...I'm probaby gonna spend 20-25 bucks on it :P Yes...A large chunk of m allowance I have saved up...but, it'll be worth it :D So worth it. And I'll still have about 40 dollars leftover No, wait. A thought occured to me....what if the store doest have enough sposterboard I need? O.O Eh, I can just buy more when they restock it, then xD

  • that paper cost me about $50 in south africa :(

  • What are you pulling the key on - a Spectrum 48k?

  • @drmoonrat, there is couple ways how to remove fuzzy look. I will tell u the best way that I find, in After Effects u have section Keying for greenscreen correction. Inside that section open Color Key effect, u will see there: Edge Thin and Edge Feather, diference between this tools is that Edge Thin decrease fuzzy look and Edge Feather is give bloor effects around edge of the body. I hope that this help anyone who have this problem...I know that helps me ;)

  • and extremly bad

  • I would say acrylic box tape would be better because it's crystal clear so you will only get one shade of green.

  • At first I was going to rip on your vid and say it looks like you what you paid, especially when I saw the contrasting greens between the tape and paper, buuut I gave it the benefit of the doubt. I took a screen shot of you standing in front of it, put it in Sony Vegas Pro and the entire background removed completely. The only thing wrong is your lighting it terrible but that's baside the point. Good job man. You saved a lot of people a lot of money.

  • or if you go camping a lot you might have a green tent, so you could use the rainfly as a pretty good green screen, I used it in a few of my videos

  • Can I use a darker green cloth??? or is the fluorescent-ness mandatory? Lighting will be meh.. certainly not what other people are using (spotlights and professional quality stands).. I have a HUGE window and ceiling track lights.. hehe.

  • Yeah, but the thing I don't like about your green screen effects is that you have a real static unprofessional look going on around the sketch of you. I don't think that it would be worth it to make videos if you're have this in your final videos. There has to be a better way than this to get rid of that.

  • @Acebeats1 He says in his video that it has nothing to do with the green screen itself, but the fact he uses crappy software. There are plenty of ways to get rid of that.

  • ive got 0 dollars and 0 cents :(

  • What website for effects

  • i ve got a light green wall.. painted like this.. ! will it work?

  • @MyLifeIsFireworks of course. Anything that is bright green that isn't glossy (So it doesn't reflect light) will work.

  • @MyLifeIsFireworks yes it all depends on ur software... adobe cs4+ is extremly effective but a few others are good as well. I used adobe cs4 and it works wonders with a piece of cloth i set up

  • @MyLifeIsFireworks I think so :)

  • Why so fuzzy on the edges?

  • @Eman0817 That's because of the really cheap green screen software. The chomakeyer is what really makes the difference.

  • @drmoonrat actually more than the software (which you are right does play a part) the bigger issue is the camera used. You need a camera that can record a 4:2:2 color signal if you want to do good chromakey (that means 2 parts color for every parts light). This video was shot with a 4:1:1 camera, which all consumer cameras are, and 4:1:1 is half the color information and is why you get the flickering and fuzzy edges.

  • @drmoonrat wow you really need adobe premiere pro cs5. That software has got ultra key, if you`ve got such an greenscreen it will work awesome :) nice video

  • @drmoonrat Thanks for sharing. It is effective and cheap, but you do need better software. I guess you have to cut corners somewhere.

  • @drmoonrat would that happen using iMovie

  • @drmoonrat why not crack a green screen program?

  • @drmoonrat its actually not the Chromakeyer. Its your lighting.

  • @drmoonrat Deffinitally, after effects matt choker could really help here

  • Thx guy, I don't care either so I'm gonna use this idea. Cheers

  • For what it's worth...I could actually see you in a movie dude. Seriously, I think If you were cast in like a Sandler movie it would work. You should think about it. I usually know how to spot a winner. Just a thought...

  • @daveDevoe07 Could I?

    *Puppy Eyes*

  • hah.. I just saw another greenscreen tutorial from the same Wal Mart :P

  • Cra'uns.

  • how much card do you recommend to buy

  • говно

  • it looks a little ugly around ur frame... u can see the pixels ??

  • nice keying bro im joking i can barely use mine

  • /anti_aliasing=0

    dude you're doin it wrong...

  • or you could get a bright green bed sheet

  • BEFORE I WATCHED THIS I WAS LIKE TO MY MOM "I want to buy a green bristol board and see if it works like a green screen"

  • wear do u get the softwear?

  • @epicstudios4444 buy it to get the best effect

  • Blur those edges.

  • oh yeah spend the six bucks on dancing lessons ll

  • tape it on the back with regular masking tape save 6 bucks on tape bud built mine for 0 dollars but thats a different video ! lol

  • Thats Awesome!! I am so gonna try to do this!

  • Thanks for posting.Like the very end. A baby could kill a man. : )

  • In my walmart the posters are smaller and cost more :(

  • Great vid! artistic integrity be damned tho, when you're a poor chap that can't do the for real stuff and travel all over the world to get the perfect shots or wait for certain weather conditions (at those spots). This video is for people in that boat and of course: when possible there should always be as few effects as possible- a well trained eye can ALWAYS pick out the G screen effects. Would b nice tho if you'd made it clear n the end you approve of this sort of thing for people on a budget!

  • Pretty cool! Was confused on the program thing..I don't know if I'll ever do this but definitely curious!

  • wow!!! awesum.. is tht give u a good out put i mean clarity?? then wht about light settings?? pls let me knw.. thank u.. :)

  • what software do i use

  • Thanks man!! very informative and CHEAP

  • thats an awesome video. got a question. .seeing that i do not have sufficient space , im thinking of using green curtains instead. wats the pro`s and cons of material instead of the paper. .by the way , you damn funny man . ??/

  • @nurfelixify Pro would be that a curtain is easier to maintain and store and rebuild. The cons are being able to find a curtain that's a good color, which isn't that hard if you look at some fabric stores, and the biggest one is getting it smoothed out enough so there's no wrinkles. If you're planning on using it a lot, but need to set up and take down frequently, a good fabric my be better.

  • @drmoonrat how can you get ride of those blurred edges?

  • @drmoonrat you still have a problem with the edges.

  • @nurfelixify A curtain will give you shadows in the folds. Especially if you have bad lighting. This video demonstrates the cheapest AND easiest way to go about it.

  • get a life and spend some money you tight prick

  • @spiderzzzzzzzzzz So you're one of those guys that are like "We could buy this 5 dollar bottle...OR WE COULD BUY THIS 500 DOLLAR BOTTLE! YES, EXPENSIVE IS BETTER! I LIKE MONEY! RASSAFRASSLE!"

  • What you can also do is go to a curtain store or the IKEA and buy some blue or green curtain. I spend 8 euro's for a 2.20 x 2.70 meters curtain that I now use as a bluescreen

  • so what editing software do you use

  • So...is he going to make a video teaching us to kill a man now?

  • @4NatCat15 Here's a hint... you'll need more duct tape.

  • me and my cousin used the same method but we payed more because we needed to cover a 2,5x4 m arial with greenscreen. It cost us about 30€(it's about 40$).And we used clear tape but it has one disadvantage: It reflects the light wich brights up the greenscreen but it doesn't destroys the effect :)

  • Thx it's so cool

  • waste of time

  • I just painted a wall and spent $8.

  • i wanna make a movie!

  • i just bought a roll down curtain, so i can roll my blue screen up and down, :) ownage

  • A baby can do itXD

  • I actually used this. I have my $12 green screen in my room! :D

  • Some where far away: "WHAT THE F***!? I SPENT $129.99 ON A GREEN SCREEN SET THAT TOOK HOURS TO SET UP WHEN I COULD'VE SPENT HALF AN HOUR AND $12 ON CHILDREN PAPER!?"

We feel sorry for you random man.

  • @TreyGamr58 That's a wee bit specific, Mr.TreyGamr58. Close to home? lol

  • @TreyGamr58 You have paper made out of children?! :p

  • Great idea, have to give it a try

  • for god sake dont waste ur money use vidio editors its cheaper and smaller

  • how do you get pixelated feet? I once met a man with a pixelated face who said he used to work in the SAS but I didn't know you could get pixelated feet!

  • The ending was hilarious!

  • Oh, put on a green jacket like the color of the green screen, record, chroma key the screen & your jacket out & put it on YouTube for us...

  • I was talking about 0:36

  • Why is your hair green did you die it or is it the screen's light reflecting on your hair?

  • 0:49

You want to go over to the office supplies or school supplies where they keep poster board...

    *enters through Food Center*

    2 SECONDS LATER

    (me)

    *facepalm*

  • @CoDAddictors yep i live in the uk its called asda in the uk

  • Clear tape works better, but great idea.

  • @CoDAddictors Nah, just go to a DIY store, tesco or pretty much anywhere else.

  • why do we see outlines around you and we see jagged edges?

  • @bassivity

    Nevermind, I know why, sorry.

  • Your funny ;)

  • xD

I spent on my one 30 $ and therefore I got a real decent studio screen 6 x 3 m because of a special sale offer.

  • good idea

  • Thx so much

  • lol i havent used special effects yet.but i ran out of ideas for my character.but you are right, green screen means little talent.but thanks for the turtorial:)

  • it was very helpful............thank you:)

  • I think you should watch a few more tutorials before making one of your own lol

  • @Luke13047 I do to!!

  • what if you live in the UK? we don't have fucking Walmart!!!!

  • you can paint or buy a blue or green cloth and tadannnnn better chroma key.

  • is a big crap. a piese of shit.

  • This is Crap you have not keyed yourself out well you have colour spill as well

  • but that looks extremely terrible

  • I have a green screen made of a green bed cloth. I'm only 10!!!!!

  • Mine is made out of 2 yards of fabric I bought at walmart

  • U have awesome hair :D

  • but the tape stands out from the poster board to u would need two chromo layers to key out each colour

  • In my country wal mart is called ASDA :D

  • Comment removed

  • i love how at the end you key out the greenscreen and add a green backround cause you see duct tape marks on your greenscreen

  • Thanx for the tips!

  • I bought a 6x9 true chromakey green muslin backdrop for $18 that was shipped for free and there was no tax... comparing the size of your "screen" alone makes buying one cheaper...

  • @dotalessons I bought a 5x3 screen for 49 euros, I think it is Huge! but comparing to 6x9! OMG. Mine did came with stand

  • Thx. This could really help. What software could I use for Windows for Green Screen?

  • Thanks for the helpful vid

  • Great video, was really laughing at the inserts you did in the middle. Nice work, will be heading to Wally World to get mah stuff! Thanks for posting! :)

  • I agree with your green screen comments at the end. What happened to building miniatures for spaceships like in the original star wars? Everything is CGI now.

  • iMovies better for this type of green screen :)

  • will it work with windows movie maker???

  • i think im gonna use clear tape lol

  • @Talisa20 don't. It adds a shine or reflective effect to the green screen and your program might not accept it as the chroma key.

  • @katsurencho ok kool thanks for the tip

  • @Talisa20 Don't do it. The tape will create hot spots. This is a horrible idea. Save your money and do it right.

  • What about a really bright yellow green

  • would a bright green blanket work?

  • buut the effects after look like crap but awesome

  • I'm gonna build one of these. I found a good free one called video pad video editor. Haven't tried yet cause don't have green screen, but it seems the easiest of the free ones, the other freeware ones are confusing. It's free for personal use only, have to buy it for commercial use though. but i'm just using for youtube.

  • How many of those poster boards do i need?

  • Try use AVS Video Editor or Pinacle Studio 14

  • great thanks a mill

  • That looks like my wal-mart...

  • What program do you use

  • awesome sense of humor lol :)) *like* Thx for sharing your ideas!
