  • the three people that disliked this are members of the Taliban

  • These people hate the western world, yet they embrace it so much! they would still be riding camels and fighting with swords.

  • this is very sad

  • "their opinions are meaningless to me."

    B

    A

    M

    F

    !!

  • they would love longboards... im sure

  • Heartbreaking, hopeful, sad, but beautifully done. I pray for peace. Just seeing these young people-especially girls, skating for pure fun... wow!

  • Good move by the woman. I hope that Afghanistan will regain their democratic government once again.

  • this clip made me cry. and im a full grown man. it hurts to realise that my homeland could be such an evil place that stages wars and creates the enemy to quench the thirst for oil that isnt even ours. and this this is the aftermath of that. its shameful and makes me regret being born on american soil. which is also not ours. we stole it from the native americans. every day i see a bunch of pelicans pecking at shit thats irrelivant. i feel like im the only american who isnt in a trance.

  • @Alarmclockoftruth Come to NZ bro, we only invade small pacific islands, and take all their coconuts.

  • @duanewilkins lolololol

  • buenísimo !!!!!!!!

  • Good ONe

  • Two people are pro-Taliban fucktards

  • @Disemvowel only two? Wow, they must be rich.

  • wow!

  • Unibrow!

  • Second dislike right here!!

  • X-treme Islam > regular Islam

    Beautiful cinematography

  • @marco8081a what does extreme mean? to take the religion too literally? lol religion is supposed to be taken literally. I don't know, friend, I think it's more about humanity and basic ethics. I don't know. I don't live there anymore.

  • it doesn't have to be skateboarding, it can be anything positive in the life of these kids man, everything that is going on around them is fucking negative and so if anything positive comes about they will attach themselves to it, the human mind is craving any positive energy in that hellhole..my goodness

  • it's a shitty roll of the dice, man. You and I could have gotten a 1 on our dice roll instead of a 6 and ended up in this situation instead of living in a western country in the comforts of an air-conditioned home with a personal car parked outside.

  • Amazing.

  • Oh,didnt see the bit about trying to spread western values regarding women's rights. Have these people ever watched Start Trek (The Prime Directive for the advanced Star Fleet- it happens to be not to interfere with other planets lifeforms)? Sorry, but western people have to learn a concept called freedom, which doesn't mean when people are "free" they behave like Americans. The fact is : Afghans treat women differently because of their family size, which also reflects higher infant mortality, h

  • AWESOME,

  • This just shows how awesome skateboarding is! Skateboarding is a way of expressing yourself. It's a way to Get all of the Bullshit in life off of your mind! You can pick up your board and just have fun. You dont have to be good, Its just Amazing how kids from a Country as scary as that, found skateboarding. Just like i did. It really make me feel like going and skating with them!:)

  • good shit!

  • 1 person dislikes this ?! How ?! Youtube should show who likes or dislikes ! :O

  • This is excellent

  • We must change the world. People like me live with so much money in europe. Help arm people to get a better live!!!

  • Awesome, Love it",

    All the best!!!,

    Peace*

  • What those guys are doing there, it's really something different than just to give food to the people with a rifle in the hands.

Children needs to understand that a free life means have the right to live their dreams as we have.

It's nothing about religion, war , hunger , poverty.

I only find sad that a company takes advantages from such a nice initiative.

But the smiles on those children have no price !

    Please stop the war everywhere.

  • @ergiagguaro Hi there and thanks a lot for your comment. Just to make it clear, Diesel just sponsored the film. They do not have anything to do with Skateistan the organisation which is a charity and is not tied to a corporation.

  • @grainmedia Thanks to clarify it , I still think that from certain prospective, showing the company logo brings them kind of kickback. But I'm wondering who else could sponsor those kind of things and ... well .. better than nothing !

I really appreciate all the efforts made on this project and I've already sent my application form to Skateistan to help them locally ( Italy and Europe )

Please get in touch with me if you also think I could help you guys doin' something like that. Good luck!

  • @ergiagguaro i think that over 100,000 people seeing this film that Diesels money made possible is a positive thing. If corperate sponsorship gets a message out then surely the ends justify the means.

  • thank you skateistan

  • Skateboarding its the best thing you can do when thing like this happen!!

    well..also..any other sport..but of course i prefer sk8boarding!

I really like this idea..is for the best of those people..those kids!

peace men...peace in our hearts!and a sk8 in our feets!

  • Can anyone tell me what is that music playing in the end?

  • 1LOVE-everywherre!!

  • Congratulations, guys!!!

    Keep Skateboarding!

  • freedom!

    peace!

  • If, thanks to the war, the western world can help influence the younger afghan/iraqi generations in such a way as it has done in this video then the war must have been worth something at least. I'd rather see them all skating and playing football than packin heat and making bombs...

  • i love this. with all my <3

  • Peace for Afgahnistan !

    Fuck Taliban

  • Glad to see Skateboarding bringing hope & joy to the fine & proud people of Afghanistan.

  • I deeply love the skateistan program, hope skateboarding will build something great in Afghanistan and that the elders will accept it.

  • I think I made my point as insignificant as it may be to the Afghan kids who were in this video. " You can be religious and embrace a western sport".

And this video F**ked it up right at the beginning.

Remember, while the kids are open to almost anything. The parents fear change of culture. As in the case of the little girl who's father did not like her to skateboard. I am not objecting to skateboarding, just to an instance of the video. This video is suppose to open eyes and reach hearts.

  • it truly is the simple things that you live for...take away everything else but if you can smile and do what you love it is a jumping off point for peace to find its way.

  • Great vid ! Hope the future of afghanistan is peaceful!

  • There is one thing this video leaves out in the translation. It is what the boy says right before he said his name: " In the name of allah the merciful". In other words this video neglects the boys faith. Why? Did the translator forget his dictionary?

  • @vilandood maybe they didnt interpret because they want to leave religion out of it.this video is about the kids and skateboarding. nothing more.

  • @anfo666 if it is just about "kids and skateboarding" it would be in the name of commercial opportunities. I think the idea is to connect kids with sport because with sport comes discipline, respect, trust and most important playfulness which is so important.

They should have edited the video better. Because now it seems that they did it intentionally, meaning editors did not like the boy starting his introduction as such, meaning the boy is not accepted as a whole. RESPECT! ! ! is important.

  • @vilandood wtf u on about mate

  • @vilandood u look into stuff way too much. leave religion out of this. theres still plenty of respect.

  • Comment removed

  • haha i didnt mean it like that but thanks

  • This is one of the best pieces of journalism to come out of Afghanistan in a long time. Awesome stuff.

    Well done!

Daniel (former AP correspondent for Afghanistan)

  • negative unfortuatly there would be more war without religion as 3billion people worship something, and without we would be cannibals......religion is good.....expoloitation and power are bad,....go an pick a book

  • @vinnybambam I know plenty of atheists and none of them eat people. Its a pretty sad outlook towards people that you think without the fear of God in them they would eat each other.

  • Brought a tear in my eye, very touching. Keep on skating guys.

  • I remember looking at this amazing film on Vimeo, I still haven't forgot about it and probably never will. This will always be my favorite short film for many reasons and Im glad it's on youtube.

  • that's right!! skating makes the world a better place, no matter where, no matter what!

  • amazing video.

we love skateboarding, one big family around the world.

  • @grimix007 stay strong brother, and keep skating. one day your nation will see peace.

    -Brandon (America)

  • @grimix007 keep your spirit up high, man. someday we will be at peace

  • @grimix007 2bad you dont realize that USA is there for their own interest. As soon as the Americans cant profit from the war, they will pull their forces back and bring you back to times of horror.

  • @iniestaone Wow you are so pumped full of the left wing media it is not even funny.

Go watch some Fox News buddy

  • @grimix007 i believe in this. with all my <3

  • @grimix007 don't thank America, they ain't liberating nobody...Wish you all the best guys, freedom & peace for everyone!

    Hugs from Europe XX

    fuck USA

  • @grimix007

    Skateboarding means liberty!

The Americans have cultured and support the Talibans in fight against the Soviet Union.

The Taliban are an Amercian product.

So the Americans are fighting for "freedom" against their former supported group. The victims are the children and the Afghanistan people.

The American republicans are not liberators, they are warlords, who pretend to fight for democracy.

    SUPPORT Skateistan, become a member!

Power the kids and to the People!

  • Comment removed

  • @Porterchrille You are so misinformed. There is nothing American about the Taliban. The fact that you blame the "American republicans" like they're somehow different from the democrats shows you deluded and uneducated you are.

  • @MrRahtin well said, people get married to ideologies. It's a tragedy. Alot of people want things to fit into a nice little organized picture, but life is a complete mystery. I'm sitting here in a nice room with a computer and then you have Abdul in Afghanistan who has shoes made out of plastic water bottles...WHAT...THE......FUCKKK

  • Comment removed

  • @Porterchrille My friend, please dont ruin this video posting with your political opinion.

  • @Porterchrille what do you mean with "The taliban are an american product"?

  • @MrRileythekid We actively armed and trained the mujahadin(sp?) rebellion against the Soviet Union in the 80's. They were successful in driving the Soviets out and then used those tactics and armaments to take over large parts of Afghanistan and bring them under their hardline version of Islam. This was the same group of people we attacked in 2001 as the Taliban.

  • @KidCorporate No they were',t the Mujahadin fought against the Taliban in a civil war with the Taliban ultimately won.

  • @Porterchrille Your ignorance is astounding. There was no Taliban when Russia invaded Afghanistan. The afghans are skateboarding now because of American and Nato intervention. You think the Taliban would approve of this?

  • So amazing!

  • I dont want war anymore.. This war perhaps has shead much blood and presented millions of tears. But in the end... It has promoted growth and a deeper knowledge of faith. Faith that is not bound to one god or one diety or one specific effigy. And helped a younger genereation find true freedom. Not one of guns and wars and Wars fuled by a belife that only one religion is right. But a generation That does not care if your black or white. Arabic or Japanese. South Korean or North Korean.

PEACE, LOVE, UNITY, AND THE RIGHT TO SKATE!!!!

  • We're in Afghanistan for the poppy fields, so the CIA can continue to sell drugs to the American people and incarcerate them for it. its all about power and has nothing to do with religion.

  • @newbutthunt ha ha no.

  • @newbutthunt its about both and so much more putting american companies out there and putting the drugs on the american streets and pushing religion on them

  • My English exam was based on Skateistan!

  • this video reminds me on skateboarding scene in serbia - wars, poor life standard, conservative people with no undestanding for anything different ,and skateboarding as some kind of drug that makes you run away from reality.I was ridin skateboard while NATO and USA bobms rained down around me,with walkman and phones in my ears...

  • great short film!

  • Thank you to people like those at Skateistan, who acknowledge the humanity of people in Afghanistan. War is not all of what Afghanistan knows or has the capacity to know.

  • ghey

  • pure skateboarding, nothing to do with business, that's the way of life even after having lost.

  • Diesel presents it and it was uploaded on my birthday a few reasons I approve other than the obvious :)

  • What a unique and wonderful view of Afghan teens in the midst of invasion and turmoil. I am glad I saw this and will encourage others to view it, too.

  • i thought it said vin diesel voices

  • 5:41 she said i don't care what people says!

  • Most of those girls skated better than I do.

  • Wow, amazing...Skate boarding has giving these children something to believe in, and opening doors for their future... Its touching; I love the determination of the little skater girl:) We are so lucky in the western world, yet we take if for granted everyday...So isolated in our bubble, but we have the power to make a difference..

  • Peace & love for Kaboul 

  • this is beautiful

  • i want to be able to do something like this in Malaysia... thank you for helping the children in Kabul whoever you are, you're angel!

  • FREEDOM comes in many forms, and spreads like wild fire. Love, Peace and Joy to all the youth of the world. Soon the sufferings will be a faded remembrance, never to be re-lived. We are ALL children of GOD!

  • it's so cool very good job.

  • im happy for these kids, i hope one day everyone in the world can find peace, war is pointless

  • This blows me away. I would love to go to Kabul and skate with these kids. That warehouse looked cool too!

  • These kids are amazing, and beautiful and courageous. Our youth stepping up like this are the only hope this planet has.

  • It makes me sad to think that these are the people we are killing!

  • re: jkulesha & negativesmooth:

peace and love come from people who practice peace and love, no matter what faith, what place, and what circumstance.

we all need to get off our high-horses and forget our better-than-thou attitudes.

  • @theblueroom99 You know what else that needs to be taken down from its high-horse? Religion, no matter which one it is. All to many people hide their cruel actions behind religion, and yes they get away with it. "my religion gives me the right to do this" / "i can't do that, its against my religion"

Religion has no place in Laws or rules, these story book rules was made for a completely different era of man, we are more complex these days, and the teachings of religion does not cut it anymore.
