My dad had a 1986 Pontiac 6000 and it was a great car. He bought it and gave my baby sister his 1980 Pontiac Phoenix, You talk about a piece of crap! At 60K miles the tranny went-$750 in '86 dollars! Then the a/c went out-$800.00 for that. Then she wrecked it and the insurance company gave her $1,200.00. RIP Pontiac.

My first NEW car was an '84 Sunbird that I special ordered. Bare bones, 2 door, 1.8L, 5speed, brown with brown interior. The sticker price was about $6500. Great car.

yeah agree that 150hp is poor, the 2.0L turbo from the early sunbirds were 165hp, not high also but back then in those years gm was too cheap to put an intercooler in it. Just to have an intercooler would rise those number to at least 175hp and not to mention also there is just 7 - 9lbs of boost! Imagine with at least 15lbs and you have a car with 200hp. I own one and starting to do some mods on it to reach those impressive numbers and even more! Pontiac = driving excitment!!

Yes, Pontiac squeezed lots of performance out of the cars to make up for the lack in HP. My '85 T/A only has 195 or so HP from that small block V8, but the tuning and clutch, etc. is still stock today and it is as quick as my BMW 328IS !
