@55cmarkum i lived by glen oak park on mcclure ave. my sister who lives my the mall says it has hanged alot. man i miss parking with my girl at the park and on the drive over looking the river. nothing like that in arizona
Unfortunately some of these buildings are no longer there. What really kills me is this that this "cool cat" DJ from the sixties is the same dorky weatherman we grew up with on Channel 19 and now Channel 25.
What a blast from the past! I spent my childhood in Peoria and moved away when I was 16. I lived across the street from Lee Ranson and I remember when he left WIRL. I think it was 1964 or '65. I don't recognize many places but I remember the cannon at Glen Oak Park lagoon.
Your videos are excellent - I love to show these to my friends and colleagues who are always asking, "what exactly is IN Peoria, anyway?" I do get somewhat homesick for Peoria sometimes and have such fond memories from growing up there.
Where did you get a picture of the the Rock Island engine and how can I get a copy?

What is the name of the cathedral with the icons on the outside of the building? Thanks for all your videos - I am very homesick for Peoria.

If you are talking about the church shown at 5:47 then it is Sacred Heart Catholic Church and is across from the Civic Center on Fulton Street.

Hey man everyone knows St. Mary's cathedral rules! LOL jk :P

seems like sacred heart. it's a really great place since they reconstructed it, shame that I stopped going there.
