You read metamorphosis thats so cool I read it in german but i dont know how well its translated into english
i was gonna see a play of one of kafkas other novels (i dont know what its called in english it might be called "the process" because in german its caled "der Prozeß") but unfortunantely i had to go to i think it was the florence and the machine concert on the same day although i missed the play i think i made the right choice.
I have the book :) But there is a mistake in it!! i just finished it last night, its amazing! appart from that mistake :( it annoyed me coz im a bit of a perfectionist lol
ummm, i cant quite remember, i read the book a while ago and i have read alot of others since then.. Its what mo writes in the book at the end, its wrong, the words should be
I actually liked Paper Towns just a little bit better, but I don't really know why. They're definitly both on my favorite books of all time! I know what you mean about wanting everyone else to have read it already. I lent it to a couple of my nerdfighter friends, and I was really impatient for them to finish it. Anyway, I really want Paper Towns to win the Prince Award this year, I can't think of any book that deserves it more!
Thanks for the awesome review. I am so excited for Pape Towns/ I agree about Alaska, it is my favorite book ever, but it is hard to explain.
I love Fly on The Wall, My favorite E. Lockhart book is How To Be Bad, co-written with Lauren Myracle and Sarah Mlynowski, The Disreputable History Of Frankie Landau-Banks, or Dramarama. I am not sure if you have read the first two.
I haven't read Inkheart, but a lot of my friends have reccomended it. So I'll check that out and then read the sequals.
E. Lockhart is an excellent author, I've read "The Boyfriend List" and absolutely loved it. "Fly on the Wall" looks really good. And as for "Papertowns", you are so lucky you have it.
Yeah Im on The ill side too, except, I am In school, Being bombarded by speeches from teachers and my princepal about "How Important this year is", Although the Jnr.Cert isnt really important at all its like the GCSE's, But not even as important. But I Still want to do well so its time to start studying .....
GAH!!!
Insanely enough I havnt Read Looking for Alaska But im trying to convince my mum to let me take some money out of my savings account to go buy it =]
Hope you feel better soon and wow I am so jealous about Paper Towns! I only recently discovered how much I loved John's writing, so I have been promised an abundance of katherines and paper towns for my 16th birthday. I can't wait to read them!
ROSI if you like E. Lockhart you should DEF read The Disreputable History of Frankie Landau-Banks. it's my favorite of all of her books and especially since you're a feminist etc etc, I don't know if you have it over in the UK? Haha apparently you have all the others so...
The way you feel about Inkdeath is how about feel about The Lord of the Rings (in my pants.) I LOVE the story and the books, but I have to push myself to finish it.
Oh GOD i can't wait until I get my Paper Towns (in my pants!!!!)
Looking for Alaska is an amazing book, so I am really looking forward to Papertowns. All you lucky people getting advance copies and such. ;)
Also - chapters one-five of the Republic are my favourite. I loved it from the first time I read them. As you say, it took several reads to really comprehend everything, but I was also maybe 11 at the time, so a lot of it went over my head. But it has been on my "everyone should read" list ever since that first time, just for the first half.
im ill today too it sucks! Unfortunently i dont have a copy of paper towns...yet. I look forward to a discussion on it post release date. I love your book reviews!
Damn it. You too, Rosi? Urgh. All these early copies of Paper Towns are making me super duper envious. I mean, I live in Orlando. It takes place there, right? No privileges for me :'( *sigh* I wish I knew John and Hank.
Anyway, I hope you feel better soon. All the books look awesome. I attempted to read Inkheart during the summer, but I failed miserably. I just kept thinking that if I'd known about it when I was younger: I would've enjoyed it more and actually finished it. (I'm 17.)
I'm sorry! I was super envious for ages because loads of other people had copies. At least you'll get to go to one of the book tour events, right? In fact *looks up* October 23rd, Orlando, Florida. No UK publisher has been clever enough to pick up AoK or PT.
Yeah, I thought it would have been like that. It's the fact that the protagonist is 12 which shouldn't have an effect, but does.
This is true. I remember being very, very happy when I found that out. And if all goes well, John (and Hank) should also stop by for the Great American Tour de Nerdfighting 2008. It's just that October seems so far away.
Mmmm, yeah. I did, however, truly respect the main character's love of books, and Funke's language was lovely as well.
I'm glad! Drink loads of OJ and rest and all that. I'm sorry for the sucky advice: I'm no doctor.
Would you say that's about the average for you? I suspect you may have torn through that one faster than normal since its been so anticipated yeah? Regardless, that's pretty impressive.
Nope, that's about average. It's the product of serial reading and last-minute reading and just completely losing myself in books, sealing everything else off. Honestly, I'm sometimes jealous of people who read slowly. I'd love to be able to spread out a reading experience like this one, spread the reading pleasure out as it were.
Yep, there was age banding on the back of a few sets of books the bookshop I work at got in and it was pretty shocking. I naturally ignored it.
I shall do, the cover is completely intriguing. I have to give it back to the library soon because someone's reserved it, so I'll read it as fast as possible!
I just pre-ordered Paper Towns two days ago! I am counting the days until it comes out! I had to wait like two hours until I could watch the video and it was driving me crazy, because your book review video's are so awesome!
Paper Towns is my favourite but it's VERY close to Alaska. I want to talk to you about it sooon! I kept wanting to mention things while in London but couldn't xD
GOSH you have willpower! Yeah, we must chat about it at some point, next week maybe, though? I'm back to school on Friday, working today and Sunday, still have loads of work to get finished and a university open day on Saturday. EEK. But next week we can have an in depth discussion of sorts.
This video wouldn't load for like 2 hours and it was buggin the shit outta me. Your book reviews are always worth the wait though, I am going to look for fly on the wall and A Fraction of The Whole
Oh and I too have read Plato's "Republie" a while back and you're right that's some heavy reading, I sadly didn't absorb much of it because it was so heavy but what I did absorb I really liked!
Thanks for the two new book rec's. I hope you're feeling better soon.
Tell me about it, it loaded once and then refused to load up comments or load the video last night. AGH YOUTUBE. I was happy to see all was well this morning.
Thank you! Fly on the Wall is a really great pleasure/humour read, especially after intensive study of dead philosophers, and the first few pages of A Fraction of the Whole are GREAT :)
& thanks again, I am feeling a lot better this morning so I hope that's a sign of recovery or something.
Really? I love the candle smoke! The problem with the flower on the cover is that, from a bookseller's standpoint, it's hard to sell that edition to boys, when honestly I wish it were easier because I have to persuade them (and often, their parents) that reading it is worth it enough to counter the possibility that someone will think them effeminate. Which it is. & there's nothing wrong with being effeminate anyway ;)
U r kinda nice

Thank goodness for Goodreads though, right?
