  • Something about Gun Club give me this awesome/weird vibe. I'm not sure what it is, but I get the same vibe when I encounter anything from the 80's that's slightly flamboyant and/or horror-punk-ish. I even get these weird flashback memories sometimes, which make no sense since I was born in 1991. *sigh* I must be fucking crazy, but this damn band seriosuly makes me wanna go out and fuck something.

  • Here it looks like he's leavin' for a safari!

  • 4 chords. Count 'em.

  • Jeffrey Lee Pierce and the Gun Club kiss this town goodbye!!!

  • Is that Patricia Morrison?

  • @p4horror Yes. That's Patricia Morrison.

  • Vince Neil never sounded so good.

  • Kid Congo Rules!!

  • Each to their own taste. I think JLP sounded fantastic, was a dynamic performer, and was also a fucking hunk of burning love. Smoking hot. Divine, my ass. They don't even have the same eyebrows.

  • R.I.P for Jeffrey

  • Saw them around the same time here in Dallas. Jeffrey Lee wore the same outfit, but also had a machete to match the outfit, which waved it around during the gig. I remember being up against the stage and feeling a bit uncomfortable when he raised it over his head.

  • jeff looks a bit like Bobcat Golthwait with a blonde wig on here. uncanny, lol.

  • Jeff sings in the key of Jeffrey Lee. He plays trumpet in the same key. It works. Saw this same tour but in Atlanta GA at the 688

  • It's always been a toss-up between this and the Bee Gee's 'Night Fever' as to which is my favourite going-out-on-a-Saturday-night record! This is about the time (it was early 1986 to be specific) when I first discovered this song. So funny Jeffrey Lee's wearing a safari outfit similar to what Peter Cushing was in 'SHE', 'cos I was so digging Rosenda Monteros in that and thinking about her and that whole film in a Cramps/Gun Club kinda way!!!

  • i would sell my soul to be able to let out a high pitched scream like jeffrey lee pierce!!!! 0:13

  • What a crescendo, Kid Congo goes fuck'in apeshit.

  • just like the moth seeks the heat of the light......

  • What the hell is this? Sounds like some strange combination of '60s garage rock, punk and a bit of rockabilly!

  • great classic song !!!

  • Everybodys definition of Punk is different. Whats yers?

  • im gonna fuck you ridiculously silly until you die

  • "Some creole boy...fuckin with my head..used his blood to paint costume red.."love it..ha...ha..ha....not the best version.of jack....still great to have a record of it....

  • not the best version.....still great to have a record of it....

  • nice stingray-style of jlp

  • Is it Terry Graham on drums or Desperate?

Anyway, either Wikipedia has mistake or the date of this Madrid gig is wrong. Wiki says "the band decided to call it quits and played their farewell shows in the winter of 1984", but this clip here is not from Jeffrey's first solo tour, because then (if I remember correctly) he played with Nick Sanderson and Romi Mori, and this line-up turned to be the last Gun Club nucleus (2nd guitarist changed from time to time).

  • @whsonic thats Desperate on drums =)

  • This is rock and roll at it's purest.

  • what to say!! okay: AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!! the armpit lover

  • C'mon Jeffrey ! :))

  • the sad thing is green day is one of the few worthy punk acts left

  • @ma5t1ka you CAN'T be serious, i'd prefer to put pieces of shit right on my ear that listening that crappy band. GD has nothing to do with punk...or rock and roll for that matter.

That being said, this is my favorite Gun Club line up. Kid Congo is a bad motherfucker!! I started liking stratocasters because of him.

  • @salmonico I meant one of the few worthy new punk acts... tell me a good new punk band excluding those no age and japandroids kind of noise rock/punk music

  • @ma5t1ka Punk? not really.

  • Throttilus Rexus throttled and wrecked.....Kid Congo is Redemption

  • @lonelygirlsucks I'm sure she really appreciates you writing her off in her old age.

  • Godamn!

Patricia, as always, looks like some divine, dark Goth Goddess of all that ever mattered.

  • This is an amazing clip... there are no words.

  • Fuckin' awesome band! Awesome grooves!

  • they were so good.

  • I must say i like gun club

  • Rock'in.....

  • He looks like a miliary drag queen. If that was his intention then fair enough.....but I doubt it.

  • this shit sends shivers down my spine.

  • patty morrison = hairbear icon

  • he´s a maniac

  • Thanks for posting this piece. I have to say that the Gun Club were a real powerful and talented combo - very underrated and totally brilliant. The bassist (not Patricia here but a later one), i think, married the drummer who (alas) died. Pierce put everything he had into his music - he held back not at all.

  • cool song but these guys look like that crappy band motley crue(or how ever you spell it??)

  • handsomevision....You are a fool!!!! Apparently you aren't too familiar of the great ROCK N ROLL Legacy of The Gun Club, comparing them to Motley Crue. You're an idiot! Plus, they came out of a great time for late 70's LA Punk Rock with bands like X, The Flesheaters, The Cramps (yes, they lived there for a time), The Dils, , & Berlin Brats/ Mau Maus!!!!! THE GUN CLUB ROCK!!!

  • ok tuff guy. you win. i didn't compare them musically i just think he looks like the lead singer of m.crue. like i said before cool song.

  • Jeffrey Lee Pierce was such an emotional singer. Completely possessed by his songs. Fantastic!

  • Kid Congo assure grave sur ce titre mais Jeffrey a un peu abusé on dirait ? Quel dommage !

  • I do like the Gun Club and have a few of their albums but JLP always reminds me of Devine.

  • I was lucky. I saw them in Athens Greece twice. They weren't the most familiar with the audience band, but I loved (and love) their music. In this live perfomance, JLP gives everything at the end. KCP rules ...

  • Whatever, "Dookiebutt". You're a fucking poser. Jeffrey Lee Pierce is killing it in this clip. Have you listened to Miami or Death Party?

  • No, you're a faggot.

  • oh i didnt no. i coulda swore i wasnt but i guess thats the way things work out then huh haha

  • that was Jeffery man. take it or leave it.

  • DylanRude knows. Dookiebutt is a fucking poser! end of discussion.

  • totally man, ha i like the gun club u guys have no fucking life

  • @Dookiebutt47 You fuckin fool

  • Just heard them on Indie radio 103.1 online.

    I'm a new fan.

Wish I knew about them earlier.

  • Kid Congo Powers on lead

  • I agree so much with myself.

  • GOTH always exitsted a lot. Look at all those buildings. They're really like made for the videos of die haut, sisters of mercy and off course the gunclub ( to a lesser extaint' the zombies). but the thang is. Music is almost evrythang. and nothing.

  • surely sweet stuff stag! thanx man! and the g-club for this fire. unfortunately all good things come to an end....

  • Blondie did a tribute to Jeff on thier last but one albumn called "Under the Gun". There is another Blondie connection in that Chris Stein managed and produced early Gun Club stuff ....

Jeff also looked after Blondies fan club in California in the seventies ........

    RIP Jeff great talent ..

The lady bass player is Patricia Morrison who later had a spell with UK goth band "The Sisters of Mercy"

  • Wow that's the kind of stuff I want to show my son to teach him rock'n'roll. These were the good days indeed.

  • great band, great time

  • indeed brother

  • Comment removed

  • THE BEST!!! Jeffrey Lee Pierce was so beautiful and emoted so dramatically on stage. Look at Patricia, so cool and graceful, too! AMAZING SONG AND VIDEO!

  • Pierce is FUCKIN WASTED

    or on drugs

  • the bass sounds really good ,blown out a bit

  • this song makes me happy and it makes me want to use drugs more and more too!

  • Or a cross fat dresser

  • looks like hes going on a african safari

  • he looks like deborah harry... if debbie was a chunky man. heh.

  • Actually he was one of the greatest singers of his era, you dumb shit-sucking cunt. No offense.

  • kid congo goes crazy around the 4:20 mark on

  • Cool tune. I was unlucky enough to see their worst show probably ever. They were so drunk they couldn't play , but back then it was just a couple bucks to see them so I guess I got my moneies worth.

  • That should be next to "rock n roll" in the dictionary

  • dessi is that you on drums? it is you isn't it!

  • it's punk rock what do you expect. Buy Fire of Love and maybe you'll change your mind about jeffrey lee's vocals.

  • Compared to who?

    Steven "bollockless" Tyler?

  • Awesome friggen video quality!

  • fantastic

  • These guys and The Cramps always used to put on Killer Shows, great stage presence and always a fun show.

  • Frank Black owes this dude a huge favor

  • That is so hot.

  • Jeffrey! Kid Congo! HEY HEY...thanks for posting this. How I miss him!

  • Jeffrey Lee Pierce reminds me of Sam Kinison with his energy and screaming

  • I've always thought he also looks like Marlon Brando if Brando had got fatter earlier.

  • as if Marlon fucked Debbie Harry's maid, who actually turned out to be her sister and thus their bastard blond kin legacy relies upon kid congo circa"80 whatever

  • In some fundamentally realer reality, I think this is basically the truth. It wasn't Brando himself, it was Brando's character in Night of the Iguana.

  • lolol very nice

  • ohh my godddd

    thats all i can say

  • now thats a fuckin gig.

    ougk

  • oh shit; went back too far on my browser! The Lie @ Paradiso video i'm on about - can't delete o well =/

  • great obviously but... was pierce really a git? theres evidence here; he treats patricia bad in that inteview. and is either hamming it up or pathetically out of it on smack

  • Raw and wild...straight from the damn rockin' hell...on fire!

  • YAYYYY

  • so much better live! best version ever

  • *Dancing*

  • it's the fucking best version! with much more booze and drugs than on the record!!!!

    amazing song

  • this song is much tighter sounding on record. lyrics easier to decipher, more melodic, etc. check it out. i dont think jeffrey tried to duplicate the sound of the studio version live here. he meant for it to be in your face and over-the-top.

  • on second thought maybe JLP was just scrambled beyond belief and wanted to batter the crowd as he was known for live during this period. either way its a lot different sounding. i like both versions. good to see kid congo lay down some abuse too.

  • Errr...ummm...well, that's what is was like to see acts like Gun Club. Things weren't 'polished' or over-produced. Same went for pretty much any 'punk' band in the underground scene in the early 80's. That's what made it all worthwhile.

Get over what happened post-Nirvana. That's not what happened back in the day. You want all sorts of 'polish'...go buy a Green Day record.

  • Well said Fred

  • it really beats me how you can reply in such a stoic manner to a comment as profoundly retarded as sk8man25's

tip of the hat to you ;p

    ougk

  • @fredbsd Right on.

  • Jesus himself loves the Gun Club.

  • Truer words were never typed.

  • And Allah and Satan and Shivá and Quetzalcoatl and Amon Ra too...

    And not to mention Oprah.

  • That would make a good sitcom: They're all roommates, and Quetzalcoatl's always using Oprah's moisturizer.

  • Jeebus, Stag! Thanks for all the uploads...This shit just gets bettery and bettery!

  • No thanx man, enjoy. i may upload some more

  • Poison, Guns and Roses where influenced by this band and made it glam. The base player later help formed the Sisters of Mercy.

So great!

  • Te gek, wat zei en deed hij precies ermee?

  • esta banda ,the fuzztones y the cramps estan re locos ojala hubiera mas bandas asi!!!

  • What a band... what a show... what a song...

I own a great live version of this bluesy tune at London's Dingwall of Dec 11th 1984...

    Chills...

  • The Gun Club are the fuckin' best!!!!!!!!!

  • Solid live version of this song!! This line up was one of the best too!!!

  • Just gotta love em...

  • Thanks for putting these out there.

    Gun Club were just amazing!

  • wow

  • i love this line up

  • gun club is one of my favorite bands

    thanks for uploading

  • i was like 18 and consumed fire of love

    perfect lp

  • Thanks for this video! One of the best song of the Eighties. JLP is an idol.

  • pete doherty shall watch this before pretending being a "punkrocker"

  • hell yes!

  • Thank you

  • who's pete doherty? hahaha

  • get fucked.

  • this is why the internet was invented.

    thanks.

  • I could not agree more.

  • THIS IS PURE BLUES-PUNK!!!

I own a cassette bought at Camden Town, London, of a gig performed at Dingwall on December 11th... If you guys like this song, you should listen to that version...

Notice that this particular song is particularly fitting to improvisation, as you can see also here by the guitarist..

A little great masterpiece of this niche music...

    JEFFREY LEE PIERCE!!!

Along with Darby Crash, Lux Interior and Henry Rollins, one of the Idols of my adolescence...

  • The "guitarist?" That's Kid Congo, fool! Respect it!

  • kid congo powers rulez.

you can enjoy him with the cramps too ;)

  • I was there! Alright, I don't actually know which night, one of those gigs. The great thing about them playing Dingwalls was, it was tiny, a bar really, so they played a run of two or three nights there instead of one night at a bigger place. The stage was only three or four feet off the floor and they were right in your face, looking fiercely resplendent, Pierce in an amazing poncho. I'd seen them before at the Lyceum, a crap venue that now has the Lion King on. This was way better.

  • you lucky fuck!

  • Great! The sexiest song of the Gun Club (to me at least). Thank you!

  • La edad de oro? great!!!

  • we want more !!!

  • I dont like that drummer but I love the song, beautifull trashy punk noise, mad...

  • absolutely the best!!!!

but Stag this is not in the 1985 because this line up ended in december 1984 in 1985 Jeffrey tuored wildweed his solo album!

  • Well i guess you`re right, but it`s what the dvd cover said.

  • dvd cover?there is a dvd with the whole performance out now?I want to see the live of Hey Juana!!

    your videos are the best!

  • ahh, no thanks:) Live at the Hacienda + Fire of Love are out, in total 4 full live registrations.
