i love this version, i really liked the english dub version ALOT. i mean, so what if they edited some of the dirty parts out? i mean. that's how anime used to be! clean. i think the dub catches things that the japanese doesn't, the power of friendship and love. which is much more meaningful.

The ORIGINAL airing, for those old enough to remember was a happy medium between the Japanese and this.

This is not the original airing. It was longer but not as long as the Japanese, it also had a finale song.

The English version did get it right by making it nostalgic and sad she did lose all her friends, and lose her memory before they were re-incarnated to fight evil again.

Okay so I'm definitely in the minority among most sailor moon fans but I actually prefer this dubbing to the original Japanese. Everything fits better. Luna's words make more sense, it's not so cheesy as "No, if Usagi uses the crystal she'll die!" O-M-G. >.< The others are all dead too, you know. Make Usagi the center of all attention. I like "everyone is counting on you" better, it's a more motivational speech.

@gamus5 Well yes I know, you and just about everyone else on the planet. Except me. I was trying to offer a different perspective here. I personally think that Usagi is 100x more annoying in Japanese. I got quite sick of her uber squeaky voice--yes, I realize this is an anime convention but it's still damn annoying. Her English voice is much more realistic and natural and doesn't have that "precious cloying cute" factor.

@gamus5 I agree with you on the 3rd season. She sounded horrible. :P All I'm saying is that Japanese sailor moon sounded just as unreal and cheesy. No one talks like that in real life unless they inhale helium or are pretending to be an airhead for publicity (i.e. the voice actress who played Amane Misa in death note; check out her live interviews, she sounds fake). Kotono Mitsuishi also did Juri's voice in Utena--I wager that's closer to Kotono's real voice than her Usagi voice.

@gamus5 I didn't say I couldn't see a difference. There is a big difference in how she plays them. What I'm saying is that it's the same voice actress (something I would've never guessed on my own) and that her "real" voice (Kotono's voice) is probably closer to Juri's than it is to Usagi's. Some people like fake cartoony voices, but I think Usagi's is overdone. It's too squeaky for me. You can of course like it, I just speak for those who don't. :)
