Chuck sang Joy to the World, nuff said. so what if he didn't work on cartoons or in other groups, what he did before and what he did after doesn't count towards his work with 3DN. I am not taking anything away from Danny and Cory, but without Chuck they are just Danny and Cory. its not the Three Dog Night without all of them present.
Chuck is a wonderful performer. I was at one of his shows last year and his performance was wonderful. He was very professional and charming. And he looked better than any man 20 and 30 years younger than him.
This is a bad recording. I've seen Chuck live recently and he sounds great (2009). I recorded him on my phone and when I played it back it sounded like this video.
As far as Chuck's past experience, he did a summer tour as part of a Job Corps program to entertain and bring music to youth. He said his voice got a real work out and then he was ready when Danny and Corey asked him to form a vocal group. The first gold record was "One," which they other two tried to keep from being released.
Odd comments. Chuck "carried" Three Dog Night? Hardly. The first #1 single was Cory on lead vocals, the 2nd was Chuck and the 3rd was Danny. Out of the 21 top 40 singles Cory was lead singer the most songs. Before TDN, Wells was in The Enemys and appeared on The Beverly Hillbillies and the movie Riot on Sunset Strip. Danny was a writer/producer for Hanna Barbera and had a charting hit single and appeared on The Flintstones along with other music TV shows. Negron did what? The Rondells?
The reason three dog night is an oldies act now is because chuck and floyd aren't there. they WERE 3 dog night.and chuck is the main guy no matter how cory tries to play him down.
I don't understand why people can't see how much Chuck has given to this world, and continues to give. He is a great inspiration to society. Thank you Chuck-you still ROCK in everything you do!
I heard Chuck Negron about 10 years ago in concert and he sounded great. About a year later I heard the remaining 3DN band and they were equally great.
'Warble' on Chuck! warble warble warble. Dude you need to sing to pre-recorded tracks if ya can't actually do it anymore. Great story how you cleaned up your life but holy crap this is horrible. Go back and listen to the original recordings a few times! Yikes!
I have met chuck 3 TIMES and i'll say this he was always cool to me! he let me roam around backstage! even called me to tell me my amatuer cd was ok and offered words of encouragement! so I think hes a cool person AND I HOPE he gets to play as long as he desires to do so!
I do believe he has a lung disease - emphysema? Which would explain his inability to hold a note. He does carry one occasionally, but not often enough for me. If he went back to TDN, they'd have to carry him big-time. One more reason to just say no to drugs.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
yup, Danny and Cory would have to carry this guy if he did go back to TDN. When he does actually hold a note there is so much vibrato that it's nausiating. He just doesn't have the control of his voice he used to. He's closer to 70 than 60, people who say he looks good don't know much time it takes Chuck to paint all that rediculous 'youthfull look' on for each performance. Danny and Cory have aged gracefully, Chuck just looks silly. 'Just For Men' hair color. Warble on Chuck!
Newagegirl I don't understand why you are so fanatic about this. The more you post the more ridiculous you sound. I get that you love Chuck... maybe a may/dec relationship w/the man? Possibly deafened by love?. He should cut his losses and go crawling back to Danny and Corey and hope that they let him sing back up. It's a fact, the man has lost his golden voice. It's just sad that he doesn't realize it.
Okay let me understand this. I am ridiculous because I am defensive about all the slamming on this board, yet the ones who post the offensive remarks get a pat on the back?? Is that rock you crawled out from under still nearby?
You are so right. I actually went to another vid of Danny & Corey and they really do sound good. I can still hear the old TDN sound and it felt good to know it still exsisted. Thank you for pointing that out.
They were an absolutely amazing band and we all, I'm sure, have many memories attached to them. Hell they got me through my troublesome teen years. Unfortunately we have all aged and so have they and their beautiful, soulful, voices... at least those who are left. This video/song only confirms my previous sentence and makes me wish I hadn't watched/listened to it. I'm going back to the 1975 videos thank you very much.
They really were great. And still are. Chuck in the video doesn't confirm they cannot perform now. It confirms that Chuck cannot. Corry and Danny continue performing very well, they both still have the ability to sing long notes, hard notes, gravelly notes, without false teeth, gasps for air, or pot bellies getting in the way. Watch them here at youtube. Chuck, sadly, isn't good on his own. Not now. Used to be.
We as the public get what we give and if we give a true talent like this our love and support they blossom and fill our lives with hope and color in the music . Stay tuned and get ready to hear and see the magic that is right in front of you face blossom again .. . In seed time learn, in harvest teach, in winter enjoy ... soon you will enjoy and understand everything has its season and no winter last forever and tomorrow is a new day ...
well, after reading the deep musings of pattayapimp I gave this another listen, and it still sucks ;-) Then I went to another version of Chuck singing 'Shambala' and that one sucked too. Take it to Bransen MO where this sorta thing is appreciated/loved. Two shows daily and a nice buffet. One of the absolutely great things about TDN was the awesome harmonies, the current offerings by Chuck and his band just sound 'cheesy'.
And who was the one who made those awesome harmonies with all the ranges he could reach? Who had the most leads? You want to get into this one? You won't win and you know that!
In a very short time you will be moved beyond words with the music and images this man is putting together the sweetness of his voice will move you just like this has this has moved you in some way like he has done here ... Love him or hate him either way he is on your mind and thats what is important .
Don't hate him because he was not who you thought he was or who you wanted him to be because he is much more and you have no idea who this man really is and how rich his voice is when he is moved .. but like all great artist there are high highs and low lows . Do not be embarrassed for the singer he is one of the most remarkable people you have ever met ... So many assume. So little know.
Do not be embarrassed for the singer he is one of the most remarkable people you will ever meet and lets the haters roll right off his back and saves his energy to help people and make this world a better place do you have any idea how much this man has and is contributing to this world . Where is the respect for those who have brought you so much joy joy joy to the world !!
I'm embarrased for the singer just watching this. He must be absolutely clueless how bad he's singing. He doesn't even remotely sound like he did on the original.
Leather over 60 is pathetic. Hey Chuckie Cheeze, how bout giving the original recordings a listen, maybe take some advice and consider performing the songs YOU sang lead on. You could learn a thing or two from Cory and Danny! 40 years later they still sound like themselves, but you seemed to have taken a turn for the worse.
If you've got it, show it off! And he's got it! And Cory & Danny still sound like themselves? Not on the very few songs they sang lead on and as far as how they sing lead on Chuck's? Please! They are a whining disgrace in more ways then one! And who has kept up their looks...need I say more?
They still sound like themselves? Are you really, really serious here? And please do explain to me why you condem Chuck for performing songs he didn't sing lead on but you NEVER point out the disastor of YOUR guys singing HIS leads??
Oh and don't keep wearing your leather strides when you're over 60 man! I gave mine up years ago and I don't remember even seeing em in the 1960s performances.
Yeah but he wears them well though, doesn't he? Not only was he the Voice of TDN but he made the band look good too. Did you check out the other videos?
I'm sorry but New Age Chick seems to be the only one championing a lost cause here against the rest of the world. As the others say this is pretty bad.
I'm happy though to take the tip and watch a few more recent Chucky vids to see if they're any better.
I'm not biased by the way. I have most of Three Dog Night's late 60s and early to mid-70s material and still love it. This just sounds nothing like it.
yea, CHUCKIE CHEEZE tried to promote himself as 'The Voice Of Three Dog Night', it seems to have resonated with YOU. Legally that got him into a bit of trouble ;-( Um, he can't do that. I'll let his YouTube embarrasements speak for themselves. It's clear you are one with the cheeze.
wait! STOP THE PRESS. It turns out Chuckie Cheeze is now 'lip synching' to Katherine Hepburn sing all the TDN hits! I guess Chuck is going to spend his golden years honeing that embarrasing vibrato into something you can throw a cat thru!
He WAS the Voice of TDN and there is no one who can dispute that - not even you. Legal trouble yes because your boys are beyond jealous but guess what? He WON!
sweetie pie... CHUCKIE CHEEZE is a SOLO ARTIST NOW, what the heck is he doing singing their songs anyway. With all that material from his solo recordings you'd think he have enough material. NOPE, CHUCKIE CHEEZE fills his shows whith the 'other guys' songs.
The songs do not belong to the "other guys" They are Chuck's songs as well and he has the same right to perform them as TDN. Actually, more of a right since he was and is the Voice of TDN. Yes! Long Live Chuck! You got it!!
"he was and is the Voice of TDN..." I love Chuck as well as anyone, but he was just lucky to be the 'lead' voice on 1 or 2 of their biggest hits...their unique 3 part harmony(emphesis on "three") is what gave them success...not the sole lead of happenstance hits (Sorry, 'Joy' is not their best)...but...I stir the pot...
well, we DO agree on that. They shoudn't be singing 'his' songs and he certanly shouldn't be singing 'their' songs. Lots of examples of both sides embarrasing themselves! LONG LIVE CHUCKIE CHEEEZE!
'They' let me out to remind the world how bad this video is! ;-) 'They' will lock me back up when this yahoo Chuck Negron no longer gets caught on video making a fool of himself. Ooooooouuuuuaaaaahhhhhhh, on the road to Shambala! Want more Chuckie Cheeze? Check out the other video link (above)of your hero singing songs he didn't sing orginally.
Well then I guess you will run wild and free for the rest of your days because Chuck cannot possibly make a fool of himself. Check out video links of the MANY songs Cory & Danny attempt to croak out that belonged to Chuck and be prepared to cringe in HORROR!
sorry if this confused everyone...you have to start from my first comment which is the lowest one and work your way up...they only give 500 characters per post...
Hey Mark good post. This is exactly what these people don't get - it's a recording - much different then if you are actually there. Chuck has an awesome voice and puts on a great show! Your post is right on target! Thanks!
Chuck's harmnony seems to "override" the others and I believe it sounded just fine if you were there...just listen to the crowds reaction...they are diggin it..
yes, it's a recording via a low quality cam-corder. BUT,you can still hear Chuck hooting and hollering, warbleing his way thru 'Shambala'. His over the top vibrato. Board recording, live, or via a cam it shows what Chuck is all about now. It's called LSD, LeadSingersDisease. It's when a top notch singer thinks everything he sings is GOLDEN. What makes Chuck think we need to hear him sing Danny or Cory's songs anyway? He's a highly 'succesful' solo artist now with six shows booked thru the year.
Will you please get off your high horse and check another video? Then come back and tell me how awful you think it is. This is ONE video! And excuse me, but who had most of the 3DN leads? Chuck. Which means that your boys are MAINLY singing Chuck's songs. You don't think people cringe hearing that mess? I do agree he is a Top Notch Singer. Thanks for the compliment!
continuation from previous because of lack of space.....
...1- of course through the board you get an even sound and hear each part as a person sitting front and center (in theory)
2- through a video you get crappy sound..usually...and depending where the person is sitting more of one vocal than another.. I think many times a harmony might sound out of place without the other accompanying harmonies..this may be the case hear...
I may get Slammed for this but when I first heard this I thought...not too good...but hear me out this is Just an observation. As a musician I have been recorded "through" the sound board and also on a video "no sound board"..
We will get old and if anyone who has negative stuff to about Chuck make sure you post your demons and bad decisons on here and you can feel what it's like to have people pass judgement on you. Look at the video, Peices Of April and you'll see his talent, 'Nuff said.
yea but.... this video still sucks! Oooooouuuuu, Aaaaaaaaa, Eeeeeeeee Owwuuuuuuuu... On the road to Shambala. YUCK! Chuckie, dude, we all know YOU (and a lot of your fans) think YOU were 'The Voice of TDN' but leave this song to Cory. You sound horible!
duh, Cory Wells isn't a solo artist dumbsh*t! Ya gotta go backa few decades to hear Chuckie sound good. Chuckie singing 'Shambala' is embarrasing! I just looked at Chucks tour schedule, it's pretty weak! After listening to this I can see why.
He isn't solo because he doesn't have what it takes Einstein. And if you would think with some kind of logic, you would realize you are listening to only ONE recording. Try some others. Chuck will be pleased to know you are interested in his tour schedule!
Look it up Einstein! Chuck has six, count em 6 showes booked this year. TDN has 40+ . Yup, this is one recording and if you scroll down another poster confirmed this is about as good as it gets. Rock on Chuckie with your six shows booked so far. I'm sure NAG will in the 'croud' at one of them.
Chuck doesn't need anymore shows, he's busy doing other things too you know. 3DN can hobble onto their 40 stages and groan out a few notes. That's cool. How's Cory doing with "ONE" by the way? Is he hitting the range yet?
With only six shows booked I sure hope he's doing other things! Yup, Cory singing 'ONE' sucks too. Are you a twit all the time or just here? You should consider a job as a 'turn polisher'.
Why in the world are you trashing me? I am here defending Chuck from people like you. You chose to come to this board and spew your insults. If you don't like Chuck then take a walk!
You REALLY don't get it do you? Nobody in their right mind can defending THIS video or Chuck singing a song Cory Wells sang lead on. It's called 'commentary'. Commenting is what people do if they wish. If you want to go thru life thinking everything your beloved Chuckie does is GOLDEN then so be it. DO YOU SEE ANYBODY HERE COMMENTING HOW GREAT THIS VIDEO IS? Your beloved Chuckie sucks at singing 'Shambala', get over it.
Commenting? Try trashing! Why aren't you on the 3DN board saying how great they are? And what is the deal about Chuck singing Cory's lead? 3DN doesn't do that? You seem very hostile over the fact that I support Chuck. Hmm, I really don't think I'm the one who needs to "get over" it.
All the spin and 'turd polishing' from you isn't going to change how this video is. All Chucks hoot'n and hollering, over singing, that fuc*ing vibrato is embarrasing! Sorry sister, when something sucks this bad people are gonna 'comment'. Hey, I gotta, go. Enjoy your Chuckie!
You are absolutely right. Even if we like a person, we still need to be honest about things. I was wondering WHO was singing so close to a "hot" mike and sounding so awful.
That's when the camera closed in and showed it was Chuck! Love him or not...bad is still bad. I'm sure he's still good at the songs he regularly sang...age considered.
Chuck is awesome and I really don't care what negative comments are on here cuz I know he's a Beautiful Singer he's got an amazing range. And he is the most considerate loving nicest guy I have ever met. Anyone who has ever come across him whether it's personally or messaging will tell you what a Big Heart Chuck has and he's all about LOVE!
I am totally on Cory's side!!!!!! I just read the book Three Dog Nightmare not that long ago, and I don't blame Cory Wells for not wanting Chuck in the band. I mean think about it, if he went back in the band, TDN would sound horrible. Cory and Danny are way better off without Chuck.
What band?? It's a good thing Chuck carried that band the way he did back when or there never would have even been a Three Dog Night. They should be grateful to him, not spiteful and jealous like they are.
You have no idea what you're talking about. Chuck has been sober since '91 and is very active in the recovery community. Get your facts straight before you post something so false!
He was out of key and not even performing with the band. The fat old rock star in leather pants doesn't go over very well either.
Te best thing about the video was the burn out with long grey hair walking around like its 1975 - I bet he has never changed his hairstyle and thinks its still cool.
Gee, I wonder how long it took for you to come up with that great post? Did you have to take a couple glances in the mirror to get the gist of what you wanted to say? What band are you referring to? 3DN? Why would Chuck be with them? Coming from someone like yourself, these insults are not valid. Chuck is awesome, end of story.
Of course he is the Voice from TDN. And why can't you guys be nice? Without Chuck, there would have been no TDN. He is AWESOME and he made that band look good too!
Wow don't get yourself all worked up! There is a difference between "opinions" and insults. I'm sure you wouldn't appreciate being called nauseating, would you?
I take it my 'opinion' is insulting to YOU? That's another thing you need to 'get over'!
Yes, listening to your beloved Chickie in this video is nauseating to ME. I appreciate you being a fan of his but with each post you add you are just polishing a turd.
ok, I just listened to this and well... it sucks! Ummm, NewAgeGirl26, that's my OPINION ;-) NewAgeGirl26, I'm guessing you probably wear a mullet. That is an INSULT!
I love Three Dog Night since the early seventies(my first concert in 1974)...all of them. Chuck Danny and Cory. I have only seen Cory and Danny and they do a wonderful show. Would love to see Chuck but the best would be all three of them together again!
My wife and I just saw Three Dog Night the other day. I'm talking the rest of the group that still plays together. They sounded as good as they did back then, musically even better. That was an awesome show, no room for jealousy and contention between band mates...too bad they couldn't be all together. The show with Danny, CW, and the rest of the group still ROCKS.
I had my husband (who is a professional musician) listen to this and he said the recording is low quality, and Chuck probably didn't sound as bad as this is making him sound, but his vibrato is a bit much, and he is over singing somewhat. I read that after he got clean he took singing lessons. I've heard that's the worst thing for someone who is already gifted vocally. I agree with bigGsmall about them laying egos aside and touring again. That's something I hope I get to see one day.
just got home from hearing him in Pompano Beach Florida and trust me - the tape doesn't lie. However, his charm and charisma certainly do come across on stage. He seems like a really nice guy.
Chuck was a rock star during the heyday of Three Dog Night.. If he's gonna tour, he should hit the gym HARD before putting on the leather pants. Also, tell the backing musicians to dress like they're on the big stage instead of "Saturday morning, guess I'll mow the lawn" attire. Sheesh.
Exactly! What on earth makes makes him think we want to hear him sing Danny and Corys hits? Yup, after all these years Danny/Cory still sound like they did back then. Chuck sounds like he's doing a Mrs Miller impression with that hoot'n and hollering, over singing, and that fucking over the top vocal vibrato. Chuck's not short in ego though. He'll tell you he thought he was 'The Voice of Three Dog Night'. We don't hear Danny or Cory saying idiotic things like that.
No one has ever said Danny and Cory get close to Chuck's sound. 'Chuck's sound'? After listening to this and other current Negron videos it would seem Chuck can't get close to his original sound. He's a vocal mess of hoot'n-hollering and over the top vibrato now. Hey, they all are getting old! Danny and Cory can still pull it off, Chuck's become someone else doing his hit.
You can't seriously tell me that you think Danny and Cory sing better then Chuck? Come on now. Chuck WAS the Voice of Three Dog Night. And he made the band look good too then, and he looks just as good now. I would just love to hear Danny or Cory attempt to sing any of Chuck's songs or even try to reach his range then or now. So give it up. You'll never win.
Danny and Cory sure do sing better than Chuck does now! Just give this video another listen, he a fricking mess! Maybe it's those voice lessons he took? Back in the day Chuck was the sh*t, I'll give you that. It's all well and good if you think Chuck was 'The Voice Of TDN', but for Chuck himself to say and promote himself as such bit him on the ass big time! Enjoy your beloved Chuck ;-) He's Mrs Miller approved now!
He's a lot more popular now then your boys are, hmm, what does that tell you? And why shouldn't he promote himself as the Voice of Three Dog Night? He got crap for how BIG his Formerly or Three Dog Night was written,(and hello, wasn't he a former member?)so why shouldn't he go ahead and promote the truth? I will enjoy him thank you. Too bad no one can enjoy your group of past has beens, never will bees. And who is Mrs. Miller?
So I have the maturity of a 10 year old and you don't? You come here and bash a nice guy and you don't expect denfense? You Rock-On dude and bow down to the undeserving.
thats oK, Cory & Danny did not flip out on drugs ,that's why they voted him out of the group, now they just need to change their name to 2 dog nite,no different than the
Temptations voting out David Ruffin for the same thing, they wanted no part of the drug scene either,Ruffin & Negron are fantastic singers and entertainers, but their choice of doing drugs while being part of a group that disliked drugs did not work for the rest of the group, just goes to show you, everyone is replaceable..
You obviously have not read Chucks book. Cory and Danny were far from angels. They sound horrible, the older they get, the worse they sound. Read that book sometime, you will find out its not as Black & Whit.....no pun intended..........as you think. Much more to the disbanding than Chucks drugs. Chuck is better off without them. Cory is the leader, Danny the follower. They both abused drugs and alcohol too.
You know, here is something I see about Three Dog Nighters. They all seem to like bashing Chuck. Why is that? He was able to go solo for a reason, think about that one. And doesn't it say Chuck Negron up there? If you Three Dog Night people don't like him, why are you here?
like someone said life is short, get them all back together for a tour, (it can be done)put things aside and make it a surprize for a big outdoore event-have chuck walk out in the middle of the show-tears of joy
Wow I don't know, I guess that would be up to Chuck but after all that went down... I'm not sure about this idea. I think Chuck is best just where he is - solo and superb!
Wow I don't know, I guess that would be up to Chuck but after all that went down... I'm not sure about this idea. I think Chuck is best just where he is - solo and superb!
Aw, cut him some slack, people. Sure, his voice isn't what it used to be. But he's way old, a senior citizen. And he's operating on only one functioning lung, one of several complications from his years of drug abuse - He just recently celebrated his 16th year Clean and Sober.
No slack Jay... I've seen him here on YOUTUBE singing with Blood Sweat and Tears doing several songs and he sounds great. So he CAN sound great when he rehearses.
YES, if they do get back together REHEARSE! Maybe listen to the original recordings? His sloppy vocal mess of over the top hootn' and hollering will never do. Can he even hold a note the way he used to without a vibrato so wide it's nausating. Listen to the original recording of 'Easy To Be Hard', listen to him now!!! Yikes.
What a shame Egos and Hubris have to get in the way! If these jerks would, for ONCE in their pampered lives, think of the FANS, maybe they could bury the hatchet and tour together one more time... FOR THE FANS... GET IT, CHUCK??? GET IT, CORY??? GET IT, DANNY??? The current TDN lineup is good, but it would be better if NEGRON would swallow his pride, try ACTUALLY REHEARSING so he doesn't embarass himself (and the others) and get back with the band.
If Chuck thinks he has a case, there are legal remedies and paths he can take. All I'm saying is if these three guys could put their past behind them, REHEARSE and take their craft seriously, they could have one hell of a reunion and make a ton of money for their efforts. A reunion concert tour (Hey, the EAGLES managed to do it, so it CAN be done), plus a DVD and an album and they would all be set for life (again).
Yes, he did pawn them, every one of them. Get his book, Three Dog Nightmare, it is an astonishing account of his life, before,. during, and after his battle with drugs. No one knows where they are or what happened to them. Wouldnt it be great if someone came out with them???
tbdldam93, I did get the book after this comment of mine, and read that he had pawned them, there probably somewhere packed in someone's garage, not knowing the value lol.
Lol, listening to this is painful! The once great Chuck Negron reduced to warbleing thru the old TDN hits. Come on, someone needs to tell Chuck the truth.
Search youtube, find videos of Three Dog Night in their hey-day, great stuff from all the TDN vocalists. There was a time when he sang his ass off, now he's a sloppy vocal mess of over the top vibrato and over singing. Find the youtube video of the original TDN performing Easy To Be Hard and you'll see the night and day differences in how Chuck's singing style has changed.
Yikes, this is Chuck singing a Shambala, Cory Wells sang lead on this orginally. That Negron vibrato is wide enough to throw a cat thru! There was a time when Chuck was calling himself 'The Voice of Three Dog Night', after listening to this it's clear that bit him on the ass!
Chuck you got me through Vietnam, getting old sucks but Thanks

Chuck: don't sing Cory's songs......Cory: don't sing Chucks songs. Both are great singers but with totally different voices and styles. BSP

One more reason to just say no to drugs.
debilt8 3 years ago

yup, Danny and Cory would have to carry this guy if he did go back to TDN.

And comments like these from aimee here are completely accepted on every Chuck board she can find. I don't get it. You guys are TDN brainwashed.
NewAgeGirl26 3 years ago
Chuck hasn't lost it, although this video sucks.
Newage is hoping to have sex with Chuck. She wants all to believe that she has or will. She is a sad comment on Chuck fans.
Chuck has had great impact on the music world. This video is no where near his best.
TDNChick 3 years ago
Your comment is so pathetic that it speaks for itself tdnCHICK. Good one.
NewAgeGirl26 3 years ago
Newagegirl I don't understand why you are so fanatic about this. The more you post the more ridiculous you sound. I get that you love Chuck... maybe a may/dec relationship w/the man? Possibly deafened by love?. He should cut his losses and go crawling back to Danny and Corey and hope that they let him sing back up. It's a fact, the man has lost his golden voice. It's just sad that he doesn't realize it.
heavenhold7 3 years ago
Okay let me understand this. I am ridiculous because I am defensive about all the slamming on this board, yet the ones who post the offensive remarks get a pat on the back?? Is that rock you crawled out from under still nearby?
NewAgeGirl26 3 years ago
You are so right. I actually went to another vid of Danny & Corey and they really do sound good. I can still hear the old TDN sound and it felt good to know it still exsisted. Thank you for pointing that out.
heavenhold7 3 years ago
sounds like Chuck's been listening to a lot of Carol Channing and it's showing up in HIS singing! Warble on Chuck!
aimeebeaverhousen 3 years ago
They were an absolutely amazing band and we all, I'm sure, have many memories attached to them. Hell they got me through my troublesome teen years. Unfortunately we have all aged and so have they and their beautiful, soulful, voices... at least those who are left. This video/song only confirms my previous sentence and makes me wish I hadn't watched/listened to it. I'm going back to the 1975 videos thank you very much.
heavenhold7 3 years ago
They really were great. And still are. Chuck in the video doesn't confirm they cannot perform now. It confirms that Chuck cannot. Corry and Danny continue performing very well, they both still have the ability to sing long notes, hard notes, gravelly notes, without false teeth, gasps for air, or pot bellies getting in the way. Watch them here at youtube. Chuck, sadly, isn't good on his own. Not now. Used to be.

We as the public get what we give and if we give a true talent like this our love and support they blossom and fill our lives with hope and color in the music . Stay tuned and get ready to hear and see the magic that is right in front of you face blossom again .. . In seed time learn, in harvest teach, in winter enjoy ... soon you will enjoy and understand everything has its season and no winter last forever and tomorrow is a new day ...
pattayapimp 3 years ago
well, after reading the deep musings of pattayapimp I gave this another listen, and it still sucks ;-) Then I went to another version of Chuck singing 'Shambala' and that one sucked too. Take it to Bransen MO where this sorta thing is appreciated/loved. Two shows daily and a nice buffet. One of the absolutely great things about TDN was the awesome harmonies, the current offerings by Chuck and his band just sound 'cheesy'.
aimeebeaverhousen 3 years ago
And who was the one who made those awesome harmonies with all the ranges he could reach? Who had the most leads? You want to get into this one? You won't win and you know that!
NewAgeGirl26 3 years ago
In a very short time you will be moved beyond words with the music and images this man is putting together the sweetness of his voice will move you just like this has this has moved you in some way like he has done here ... Love him or hate him either way he is on your mind and thats what is important .
pattayapimp 3 years ago
Don't hate him because he was not who you thought he was or who you wanted him to be because he is much more and you have no idea who this man really is and how rich his voice is when he is moved .. but like all great artist there are high highs and low lows . Do not be embarrassed for the singer he is one of the most remarkable people you have ever met ... So many assume. So little know.
pattayapimp 3 years ago
Do not be embarrassed for the singer he is one of the most remarkable people you will ever meet and lets the haters roll right off his back and saves his energy to help people and make this world a better place do you have any idea how much this man has and is contributing to this world . Where is the respect for those who have brought you so much joy joy joy to the world !!
pattayapimp 3 years ago
I'm embarrased for the singer just watching this. He must be absolutely clueless how bad he's singing. He doesn't even remotely sound like he did on the original.
withoutawire 3 years ago
ummm, he didn't sing it orginally, jeeez, can't you tell?
aimeebeaverhousen 3 years ago
This is ONE video. Check out others!
NewAgeGirl26 3 years ago
Leather over 60 is pathetic. Hey Chuckie Cheeze, how bout giving the original recordings a listen, maybe take some advice and consider performing the songs YOU sang lead on. You could learn a thing or two from Cory and Danny! 40 years later they still sound like themselves, but you seemed to have taken a turn for the worse.
aimeebeaverhousen 3 years ago
If you've got it, show it off! And he's got it! And Cory & Danny still sound like themselves? Not on the very few songs they sang lead on and as far as how they sing lead on Chuck's? Please! They are a whining disgrace in more ways then one! And who has kept up their looks...need I say more?
NewAgeGirl26 3 years ago
They still sound like themselves? Are you really, really serious here? And please do explain to me why you condem Chuck for performing songs he didn't sing lead on but you NEVER point out the disastor of YOUR guys singing HIS leads??
NewAgeGirl26 3 years ago
Oh and don't keep wearing your leather strides when you're over 60 man! I gave mine up years ago and I don't remember even seeing em in the 1960s performances.
lolzordz666 3 years ago
Yeah but he wears them well though, doesn't he? Not only was he the Voice of TDN but he made the band look good too. Did you check out the other videos?
NewAgeGirl26 3 years ago 2
I'm sorry but New Age Chick seems to be the only one championing a lost cause here against the rest of the world. As the others say this is pretty bad.
I'm happy though to take the tip and watch a few more recent Chucky vids to see if they're any better.
I'm not biased by the way. I have most of Three Dog Night's late 60s and early to mid-70s material and still love it. This just sounds nothing like it.
lolzordz666 3 years ago
yea, CHUCKIE CHEEZE tried to promote himself as 'The Voice Of Three Dog Night', it seems to have resonated with YOU. Legally that got him into a bit of trouble ;-( Um, he can't do that. I'll let his YouTube embarrasements speak for themselves. It's clear you are one with the cheeze.
aimeebeaverhousen 3 years ago
wait! STOP THE PRESS. It turns out Chuckie Cheeze is now 'lip synching' to Katherine Hepburn sing all the TDN hits! I guess Chuck is going to spend his golden years honeing that embarrasing vibrato into something you can throw a cat thru!
aimeebeaverhousen 3 years ago
Let me know when you can make sense and I will respond. Did you take your meds today??
NewAgeGirl26 3 years ago
I really didn't expect you to get the Katherine Hepburn reference....;-(
aimeebeaverhousen 3 years ago
He WAS the Voice of TDN and there is no one who can dispute that - not even you. Legal trouble yes because your boys are beyond jealous but guess what? He WON!
NewAgeGirl26 3 years ago
sweetie pie... CHUCKIE CHEEZE is a SOLO ARTIST NOW, what the heck is he doing singing their songs anyway. With all that material from his solo recordings you'd think he have enough material. NOPE, CHUCKIE CHEEZE fills his shows whith the 'other guys' songs.
aimeebeaverhousen 3 years ago
The songs do not belong to the "other guys" They are Chuck's songs as well and he has the same right to perform them as TDN. Actually, more of a right since he was and is the Voice of TDN. Yes! Long Live Chuck! You got it!!
NewAgeGirl26 3 years ago
"he was and is the Voice of TDN..." I love Chuck as well as anyone, but he was just lucky to be the 'lead' voice on 1 or 2 of their biggest hits...their unique 3 part harmony(emphesis on "three") is what gave them success...not the sole lead of happenstance hits (Sorry, 'Joy' is not their best)...but...I stir the pot...
SolarTiger 3 years ago
well, we DO agree on that. They shoudn't be singing 'his' songs and he certanly shouldn't be singing 'their' songs. Lots of examples of both sides embarrasing themselves! LONG LIVE CHUCKIE CHEEEZE!
aimeebeaverhousen 3 years ago
'They' let me out to remind the world how bad this video is! ;-) 'They' will lock me back up when this yahoo Chuck Negron no longer gets caught on video making a fool of himself. Ooooooouuuuuaaaaahhhhhhh, on the road to Shambala! Want more Chuckie Cheeze? Check out the other video link (above)of your hero singing songs he didn't sing orginally.

havagr81 3 years ago
yes, it's a recording via a low quality cam-corder. He's a highly 'succesful' solo artist now with six shows booked thru the year.
aimeebeaverhousen 3 years ago
Will you please get off your high horse and check another video? Then come back and tell me how awful you think it is. This is ONE video! And excuse me, but who had most of the 3DN leads? Chuck. Which means that your boys are MAINLY singing Chuck's songs. You don't think people cringe hearing that mess? I do agree he is a Top Notch Singer. Thanks for the compliment!
NewAgeGirl26 3 years ago
continuation from previous because of lack of space.....
...1- of course through the board you get an even sound and hear each part as a person sitting front and center (in theory)
2- through a video you get crappy sound..usually...and depending where the person is sitting more of one vocal than another.. I think many times a harmony might sound out of place without the other accompanying harmonies..this may be the case hear...
havagr81 3 years ago
I may get Slammed for this but when I first heard this I thought...not too good...but hear me out this is Just an observation. As a musician I have been recorded "through" the sound board and also on a video "no sound board"..
2 things seem to happen..
havagr81 3 years ago
Look,
We will get old and if anyone who has negative stuff to about Chuck make sure you post your demons and bad decisons on here and you can feel what it's like to have people pass judgement on you. Look at the video, Peices Of April and you'll see his talent, 'Nuff said.
gumpdog36 3 years ago
yea but.... this video still sucks! Oooooouuuuu, Aaaaaaaaa, Eeeeeeeee Owwuuuuuuuu... On the road to Shambala. YUCK! Chuckie, dude, we all know YOU (and a lot of your fans) think YOU were 'The Voice of TDN' but leave this song to Cory. You sound horible!
aimeebeaverhousen 3 years ago
There would be no Cory if it wasn't for Chuck. Now run along and post something on Cory's solo board....oh wait, he doesn't HAVE one!
NewAgeGirl26 3 years ago
duh, Cory Wells isn't a solo artist dumbsh*t! Ya gotta go backa few decades to hear Chuckie sound good. Chuckie singing 'Shambala' is embarrasing! I just looked at Chucks tour schedule, it's pretty weak! After listening to this I can see why.
aimeebeaverhousen 3 years ago
He isn't solo because he doesn't have what it takes Einstein. And if you would think with some kind of logic, you would realize you are listening to only ONE recording. Try some others. Chuck will be pleased to know you are interested in his tour schedule!
NewAgeGirl26 3 years ago
Look it up Einstein! Chuck has six, count em 6 showes booked this year. TDN has 40+ . Yup, this is one recording and if you scroll down another poster confirmed this is about as good as it gets. Rock on Chuckie with your six shows booked so far. I'm sure NAG will in the 'croud' at one of them.
aimeebeaverhousen 3 years ago
Chuck doesn't need anymore shows, he's busy doing other things too you know. 3DN can hobble onto their 40 stages and groan out a few notes. That's cool. How's Cory doing with "ONE" by the way? Is he hitting the range yet?
NewAgeGirl26 3 years ago
With only six shows booked I sure hope he's doing other things! Yup, Cory singing 'ONE' sucks too. Are you a twit all the time or just here? You should consider a job as a 'turn polisher'.
aimeebeaverhousen 3 years ago
Why in the world are you trashing me? I am here defending Chuck from people like you. You chose to come to this board and spew your insults. If you don't like Chuck then take a walk!
NewAgeGirl26 3 years ago
You REALLY don't get it do you? Nobody in their right mind can defending THIS video or Chuck singing a song Cory Wells sang lead on. It's called 'commentary'. Commenting is what people do if they wish. If you want to go thru life thinking everything your beloved Chuckie does is GOLDEN then so be it. DO YOU SEE ANYBODY HERE COMMENTING HOW GREAT THIS VIDEO IS? Your beloved Chuckie sucks at singing 'Shambala', get over it.
aimeebeaverhousen 3 years ago
NewAgeGirl26 3 years ago
All the spin and 'turd polishing' from you isn't going to change how this video is. All Chucks hoot'n and hollering, over singing, that fuc*ing vibrato is embarrasing! Sorry sister, when something sucks this bad people are gonna 'comment'. Hey, I gotta, go. Enjoy your Chuckie!
aimeebeaverhousen 3 years ago
You are absolutely right. Even if we like a person, we still need to be honest about things. I was wondering WHO was singing so close to a "hot" mike and sounding so awful.
That's when the camera closed in and showed it was Chuck! Love him or not...bad is still bad. I'm sure he's still good at the songs he regularly sang...age considered.
cartoonjellyjar 3 years ago 2
Chuck is awesome and I really don't care what negative comments are on here cuz I know he's a Beautiful Singer he's got an amazing range. And he is the most considerate loving nicest guy I have ever met. Anyone who has ever come across him whether it's personally or messaging will tell you what a Big Heart Chuck has and he's all about LOVE!

NewAgeGirl26 3 years ago
I am totally on Cory's side!!!!!! I just read the book Three Dog Nightmare not that long ago, and I don't blame Cory Wells for not wanting Chuck in the band. I mean think about it, if he went back in the band, TDN would sound horrible. Cory and Danny are way better off without Chuck.
threedognightrocks 3 years ago
What band?? It's a good thing Chuck carried that band the way he did back when or there never would have even been a Three Dog Night. They should be grateful to him, not spiteful and jealous like they are.
NewAgeGirl26 3 years ago
once you been there, you'll go back. believe me ,chuck is dirty.

garzaeduardo 3 years ago
Someone is giving you bad information. This is past history you're talking about. Chuck is far beyond what once was. Knock, knock... is anyone home?
NewAgeGirl26 3 years ago
This particular clip makes me wonder if Chuck "fell off the wagon" so to speak.
TechMaven 3 years ago
No, what makes you say that?
NewAgeGirl26 3 years ago
He was out of key and not even performing with the band. The fat old rock star in leather pants doesn't go over very well either.
Te best thing about the video was the burn out with long grey hair walking around like its 1975 - I bet he has never changed his hairstyle and thinks its still cool.
alwaysopen 3 years ago
Gee, I wonder how long it took for you to come up with that great post? Did you have to take a couple glances in the mirror to get the gist of what you wanted to say? What band are you referring to? 3DN? Why would Chuck be with them? Coming from someone like yourself, these insults are not valid. Chuck is awesome, end of story.
NewAgeGirl26 3 years ago
OMG! Is this the same guy who sang all those TDN hits? His vibrato is nauseating ;-(
lukehardwood 3 years ago
Of course he is the Voice from TDN. And why can't you guys be nice? Without Chuck, there would have been no TDN. He is AWESOME and he made that band look good too!
NewAgeGirl26 3 years ago
Be nice?? Is that what this is about for you? These are opinions, just like yours, get over it!
lukehardwood 3 years ago
Wow don't get yourself all worked up! There is a difference between "opinions" and insults. I'm sure you wouldn't appreciate being called nauseating, would you?
NewAgeGirl26 3 years ago
I take it my 'opinion' is insulting to YOU? That's another thing you need to 'get over'!
Yes, listening to your beloved Chickie in this video is nauseating to ME. I appreciate you being a fan of his but with each post you add you are just polishing a turd.
lukehardwood 3 years ago

NewAgeGirl26 3 years ago

lukehardwood 3 years ago

toese27 3 years ago
Yea! That's right! And he's the Voice now too!
NewAgeGirl26 3 years ago
I love Three Dog Night since the early seventies(my first concert in 1974)...all of them. Chuck Danny and Cory. I have only seen Cory and Danny and they do a wonderful show. Would love to see Chuck but the best would be all three of them together again!
70sgirl78 3 years ago 2
You should try to go see Chuck if he's ever in your area! You'll see a great show!
NewAgeGirl26 3 years ago
My wife and I just saw Three Dog Night the other day. I'm talking the rest of the group that still plays together. They sounded as good as they did back then, musically even better. That was an awesome show, no room for jealousy and contention between band mates...too bad they couldn't be all together. The show with Danny, CW, and the rest of the group still ROCKS.
Sir1977Rickster 3 years ago
I had my husband (who is a professional musician) listen to this and he said the recording is low quality, and Chuck probably didn't sound as bad as this is making him sound, but his vibrato is a bit much, and he is over singing somewhat. I read that after he got clean he took singing lessons. I've heard that's the worst thing for someone who is already gifted vocally. I agree with bigGsmall about them laying egos aside and touring again. That's something I hope I get to see one day.
lovinlindyhop 3 years ago
just got home from hearing him in Pompano Beach Florida and trust me - the tape doesn't lie. However, his charm and charisma certainly do come across on stage. He seems like a really nice guy.
Jazz4Ears 3 years ago
Chuck was a rock star during the heyday of Three Dog Night.. If he's gonna tour, he should hit the gym HARD before putting on the leather pants. Also, tell the backing musicians to dress like they're on the big stage instead of "Saturday morning, guess I'll mow the lawn" attire. Sheesh.
opd7175opd 4 years ago
Hello? Time for an eye doctor check up maybe?
NewAgeGirl26 3 years ago
Just goes to show you, Chuck can't sing a song Cory originally sang.
yermommee28 4 years ago
We don't hear Danny or Cory saying idiotic things like that.
bigGsmallLane2ns 4 years ago
And your're saying Danny and Cory can seriously even get close to Chuck's sound? Easy to Be Hard? One? Please!
NewAgeGirl26 3 years ago
No one has ever said Danny and Cory get close to Chuck's sound. 'Chuck's sound'? After listening to this and other current Negron videos it would seem Chuck can't get close to his original sound. He's a vocal mess of hoot'n-hollering and over the top vibrato now. Hey, they all are getting old! Danny and Cory can still pull it off, Chuck's become someone else doing his hit.
bigGsmallLane2ns 3 years ago
You can't seriously tell me that you think Danny and Cory sing better then Chuck? Come on now. Chuck WAS the Voice of Three Dog Night. And he made the band look good too then, and he looks just as good now. I would just love to hear Danny or Cory attempt to sing any of Chuck's songs or even try to reach his range then or now. So give it up. You'll never win.
NewAgeGirl26 3 years ago
Danny and Cory sure do sing better than Chuck does now! Just give this video another listen, he a fricking mess! Maybe it's those voice lessons he took? Back in the day Chuck was the sh*t, I'll give you that. It's all well and good if you think Chuck was 'The Voice Of TDN', but for Chuck himself to say and promote himself as such bit him on the ass big time! Enjoy your beloved Chuck ;-) He's Mrs Miller approved now!
bigGsmallLane2ns 3 years ago
He's a lot more popular now then your boys are, hmm, what does that tell you? And why shouldn't he promote himself as the Voice of Three Dog Night? He got crap for how BIG his Formerly or Three Dog Night was written,(and hello, wasn't he a former member?)so why shouldn't he go ahead and promote the truth? I will enjoy him thank you. Too bad no one can enjoy your group of past has beens, never will bees. And who is Mrs. Miller?

thanks for defending Chuck, maybe this wasnt his best show, but he still puts Cory Wells and Danny Hutton to shame!!
tbdldam93 2 years ago
thats oK, Cory & Danny did not flip out on drugs ,that's why they voted him out of the group, now they just need to change their name to 2 dog nite,no different than the
Temptations voting out David Ruffin for the same thing, they wanted no part of the drug scene either,Ruffin & Negron are fantastic singers and entertainers, but their choice of doing drugs while being part of a group that disliked drugs did not work for the rest of the group, just goes to show you, everyone is replaceable..
boatmoter 2 years ago
You obviously have not read Chucks book. Cory and Danny were far from angels. They sound horrible, the older they get, the worse they sound. Read that book sometime, you will find out its not as Black & Whit.....no pun intended..........as you think. Much more to the disbanding than Chucks drugs. Chuck is better off without them. Cory is the leader, Danny the follower. They both abused drugs and alcohol too.
tbdldam93 2 years ago 2
You know, here is something I see about Three Dog Nighters. They all seem to like bashing Chuck. Why is that? He was able to go solo for a reason, think about that one. And doesn't it say Chuck Negron up there? If you Three Dog Night people don't like him, why are you here?
NewAgeGirl26 3 years ago 2
like someone said life is short, get them all back together for a tour, (it can be done)put things aside and make it a surprize for a big outdoore event-have chuck walk out in the middle of the show-tears of joy

Aw, cut him some slack, people. Sure, his voice isn't what it used to be. But he's way old, a senior citizen. And he's operating on only one functioning lung, one of several complications from his years of drug abuse - He just recently celebrated his 16th year Clean and Sober.
TheJay55 4 years ago 4
No slack Jay... I've seen him here on YOUTUBE singing with Blood Sweat and Tears doing several songs and he sounds great. So he CAN sound great when he rehearses.
BigChiefLtd 4 years ago
YES, if they do get back together REHEARSE! Maybe listen to the original recordings? His sloppy vocal mess of over the top hootn' and hollering will never do. Can he even hold a note the way he used to without a vibrato so wide it's nausating. Listen to the original recording of 'Easy To Be Hard', listen to him now!!! Yikes.
bigGsmallLane2ns 4 years ago
What a shame Egos and Hubris have to get in the way! If these jerks would, for ONCE in their pampered lives, think of the FANS, maybe they could bury the hatchet and tour together one more time... FOR THE FANS... GET IT, CHUCK??? GET IT, CORY??? GET IT, DANNY??? The current TDN lineup is good, but it would be better if NEGRON would swallow his pride, try ACTUALLY REHEARSING so he doesn't embarass himself (and the others) and get back with the band.

Sure, it might be possible, if Mr. Hutton hadn't cheated Chuck out of his share of the royalties

I read on one of these video's that Chuck pawned there Gold Albums, when he was on drugs,I wonder if that is true, and where they are today??
doonejune 3 years ago

No ones telling you to listen to it!

No! leave it up for all to enjoy. Chuck Negron is not shy about how he feels about (TDN) Danny Hutton's vocal abilities!

Yes, he's off here....but for the most part, he was really really good at the Alhambra concert.....

Chuck used to have a great voice.
