Ahhh the memories. Back in the 70's, I built the 'road keyboard' and the 'road rack', full of modules. Never REALLY learned how to play, but it was such a BLAST to build and mess around with ... and I actually learned something as well. I wish all of those modules/packages were still available. It's such a 'digital world' now. Thnx for posting.
On top? Oh, thats a selfmade diy multiples-attenuator-combination panel. There are two 4-multiples and two simple potentiometers to attentuate the control voltages.
The 9700 shown here is exponential. The linear stuff you're thinking of was their first line of synth modules in the 70's. I second the John Simonton sentiment.
I build a fatman too in the past. Had a lot of fun doing that. I also just ordered the 9700. It will arrive on monday. Can't wait to start building it.
The material for the cables is included. You got 4ft co-axial cable and 25 1/8" phone plugs and you have to solder the patch cables by yourself.
But every other 1/8" patch cord can be used (like the patch cords which are used with the korg legacy collection MS20 controller, the yellow one in the video is one of those).
good demo - you got something going by the end - the secret of modular is to keep on tweaking! but then to know when to stop - then sample it, yes!

Any chance you could post some test patches?
I wish there were more 9700 patches on the internet just so we could check to make sure our synths are working OK.

can you get any good triangle waves with this?
mongobongoman 3 years ago
The square wave, the triangle wave and the sawtooth sound very analogue and warm

How are the controls laid out?

For the layout please have a look at the paia website

i finally hear some "Paia" stuff.however this is not a put down, but a observation. i see why linear analog gear never
made it as pro music gear.without the exponential converters they don't sound like they are in tune. RIP "John
Simonton" we miss ya.

Awesome! I recently built a Fatman and was considering taking a crack at the 9700S. It was great to see a video of one in use!
Sounds great with the oscillators tuned to fifths! Pretty expressive filter, too.
