people buy 240sx shells and build a drift car i would buy a 68 or 69 camaro shell and drop a ls1 or ls2 with a cam and full exhaust. I would keep it gutted as much as possible so it would be light. It would turn heads, break ear drums, and be a hell of alot more fun to drive!
@2005ImpulseBlueGTO Just keep it carburated and simple instead of using expensive fuel injection and deal with all the problems and have a nasty high idle just to make it run. Just build a old school engine and turn the idle way down so people don't expect it sideways. That and old engines are only as reliable as the people who put them together and take care of them. Computerized engines are just for lazy people.
@lunatic20000 Drifting requires the rear wheels to be spinning fast enough to cause a loss of traction but still maintain a certain amount of traction for control to keep the car at a angle with opposite lock on the front wheels. And no one gives a fuck about your ricer piece of shit civics.
@Lastspark Drifting does not require the rear wheels to spin. You can drift a fwd car with a flick just fine. It's alot harder and requires a lot or speed so you can keep the drift going. As long as there is a loss of traction in the wheels and it is initiated before the apex of a turn it can be classified as a drift. It can also be done with a technique known as brake drift. Powersliding happens a LOT more often in a RWD car.
@wimernw And drifting is being able to hold the drift, hold the angle and keep your speed. Not fucking e brake sliding a FWD. And just because you have your rear wheels spinning and you are sideways does not mean you have a loss of traction. Drift cars actually have a lot of traction, but they have a lot of power to keep the wheels spinning, but to maintain speed in a drift as well as angle and keep your drift long, requires traction.
@Lastspark Keeping speed is hard even for RWD. I did say it was a lot harder for exactly the reasons you mentioned. I would love to know how sideways and wheels spinning does not mean a loss of traction though. I also said you can use a technique called brake drift. There's also inertia drift that will work for FWD. The e-brake is great for beginners, RWD included. I'm not trying to be an ass, I drive a 94 firebird as my dd and a 240sx as my hobby car. So don't get me wrong here, I HATE FWD.
@wimernw Getting the back end to break loose is not complete loss of traction. If you had no traction at all, the ass end would just keep coming around and you would lose speed. Having high traction and enough ass in the engine / gearing to get them to break loose, they still have enough traction and grip then to keep the car moving forward but at a angle. This is why a lot of the higher powered drift cars run semi-slicks. I have even seen a few run full slicks.
i agree with you dude.....lets all team up together and make fun of the honda civics....i used to have a 93 rx-7 and it caught on fire, now i have a 71 chevelle SS, so i love cars in general, except civics
Thats an awesome camaro...I agree with wanting to hear the engine over music, but atleast it's not a shitty song...Fuck Authority by Pennywise is awesome

qu1cks1lver56 4 years ago
you raced dirt track? what class? I have a few friends that race/raced dirt track.
cardot33 3 years ago
yea man i raced.
it was a hobby truck class.
it was essentially a hobby car drivetrain in a truck chassis on 10" wide American Racer EC tires.
we ran just as fast and sometimes faster lap times than the hobby cars at our track.
i sure miss it but race fuel prices are $8-9 a gallon.
