This is one of their better songs! I can't help but wonder if (Sherry Swafford) his girlfriend at the time inspired this to be written in the first place, It's just to bad that the video they 1st did for it is now so fuck'ed up that it's un playable.
Gonzogus is absolutely correct. They may have gone on to achieve greater commercial success in the following few years but the Departure era was absolutely their peak musically. Perry's voice was at it's peak and the band was gelling so well with this line-up. I have this concert video. It's live at the International Exposition Hall in Osaka Japan, October 10th 1980. I sure wish they would get the masters tapes and have Steve remaster the audio like he did with the 1981 Houston show.
Without question from a musicians standpoint this was Journey at their peak. Perry voice at it's strongest and the rest of the band was absolutely flawless. What a great video clip.
The one remembered by history. The one they'll always talk about. The one they'll always remember. The one they'll always compare them to. The legend. The original. THE VOICE.
What's really cool is I have a friend from Japan, she states that they are more reserved at a concert. I showed her a few of these Journey videos and she just smiled. She stated "it takes a special singer to get people to move, even if they are in their seats. And wow, this guy can really sing. Look at the audience, they are genuinely excited and happy". She loves Journey (Says their amazing) now and listens and watches youtube frequently... :)
Steve in TAILS & JEANS ... my ALLTIME FAVE Perry LOOK!!! Neal's PINAFORE looks a bit FEM, I must say, but it was 1980 ... maybe he was going for the Bowie look. lol
Loving Steve Perry is Oh so easy! One of my favorite songs of Journey. Steve seems to perform so well in Japan.

Oh but bowie is a big favorite of mine!
And beyond Labyrinth, I think most of Bowies fem look was in the 70s/60s.
