That train of thought is well in good if your interest is something that you can make money off of therefore you can support yourself without other people and comfortable with the fact that you will be completely alone for your entire life but for people like me who's interests arent money makers and actually WANT a "Normal" life it is a nightmare that people like you are not helping me and those like me to awake from. @MrMysecretAccount It's all brain behaviour, but the brain can learn, and you can re-write many of your reactions. Take panic attacks, for example. Many people get this at some stage, but it usually dissipates. If you change the meaning of what's happening when you get symptoms, you can rewrite it, so that you then automatically focus on thoughts that make you avoid going there.
@emmetor I'm no expert, but I've read that some chemicals in the brain that make you depressed, are actually released when you get depressed, so you get even more depressed, and it becomes a cyclical thing, that some people seem to be able to break out of.

Apparently, by repeating endlessly the thing you want to achieve, it hardwires your brain to react that way in future. Think a chain of good thoughts till you're in a great mood - because emotion will greatly accelerate the changes.
I can empatise with people but often I choose not to as people do not empathise with us. I tend to be a visual learner and that to me makes learning organic chemistry easy. I do not like certain high pitched noises such as alarms or textures of foods such as mash potatoes.

As a second question, since I know aspergers is connected with difficulty in connecting the appropriate emotion to people's behaviour (making it hard to guage people), I'd also like to understand how you feel emotion, and when is your emotion triggered mostly - at what times?
I mean, if you have a problem telling jokes, do you get a rush of happy emotion when your joke works, and people laugh?
I have Aspergers, so I can attempt to answer your questions. Many of us have amazing memories - even untrained, The people who do memory contests will train by using visualisation as well as probably being aspies as well.
Sense of humour is really related to how you see the world, so we can be seen as very funny, having a different view of the world. My own SoH is said to be very dry.
Emotions is a difficult one - we do have them but may not show them in ways NTs recognise.
I know that types of thinking are often categorised into visual, auditory(logical), and kinesthetic ( plus a couple more) - the idea being that thinking developed from the sensory organs.
Visual thinking more like a storyboard - anything can happen. Visual objects are seen and don't need to be specifically tagged.
"Auditory" thinking is following logical rules, and tagging things with labels.
So, I'm wondering how these types of thinking show up in Asperger's. Are they the same?
Interesting question. I imagine its a bit dependent on individuals - don't forget we can be as different one from another as any other group - basically we share some common characteristics, that's what marks us out. Myself I suspect I have a preference for visual thinking - fundamentally this seems to be how I learn best. One would have to do a wide survey to really know the answer to this.
I remember the sounds - but probably because this is something I'm sensitive to - e.g. when anyone near me starts eating I put on noise cancelling headphones! (This is something I've only done recently so its a new experience.) Some aspies can't stand change but I change things myself IYSWIM.
Unlike some I don't think I'm sensitive to light. Some aspies can't stand fluorescent lights of any kind. Take that away though and I would wonder "why?" Hope this helps...

i worked with a teenage girl who had intellectual disabilities (I am going to guess IQ about 50-60) and had Asperger's. She was quite capable of vocational work and was gearing up for it.

I see it as little more as Trockjerne trying to exploite our precarious situation (and trying to destabalize it while in it's tender, embryonic stage, with it's destructive, socially atomistic philosophy).

I couldn't find this more disagreeable. Aspergers syndrome is viewed in a sad light by adult neurotypicals because mothers with autistic children usually get depressed, and couples usually divorce. 4/5 of all autism related births in a marriage end in divorce, and there just might be a reason why.
Aspergers syndrome people have to view their situation in a positive light or else they wouldn't be able to deal with themselves. We can debate about your conformity rant elsewhere :P

@MouldyProductions Wouldn't it be cool if we could find some middle ground where AS people could understand what exactly they do differently to lessen a specific issue they might have, and how non-AS people could try to emulate an aspect of AS in order to get some of the cool logicality that AS people often have.
You don't have to have AS to be obsessed by certain things. As a student, I would love to get slightly obsessed with studying some of my subjects, but I'm a highly distracted guy.

Many people get this at some stage, but it usually dissipates. If you change the meaning of what's happening when you get symptoms, you can rewrite it, so that you then automatically focus on thoughts that make you avoid going there.

I have Aspergers, so I can attempt to answer your questions. Many of us have amazing memories - even untrained, The people who do memory contests will train by using visualisation as well as probably being aspies as well.
Sense of humour is really related to how you see the world, so we can be seen as very funny, having a different view of the world. My own SoH is said to be very dry.
Emotions is a difficult one - we do have them but may not show them in ways NTs recognise.

I know that types of thinking are often categorised into visual, auditory(logical), and kinesthetic ( plus a couple more) - the idea being that thinking developed from the sensory organs.
Visual thinking more like a storyboard - anything can happen. Visual objects are seen and don't need to be specifically tagged.
"Auditory" thinking is following logical rules, and tagging things with labels.
So, I'm wondering how these types of thinking show up in Asperger's. Are they the same?

I imagine its a bit dependent on individuals - don't forget we can be as different one from another as any other group - basically we share some common characteristics, that's what marks us out. Myself I suspect I have a preference for visual thinking - fundamentally this seems to be how I learn best. One would have to do a wide survey to really know the answer to this.

I remember the sounds - but probably because this is something I'm sensitive to - e.g. when anyone near me starts eating I put on noise cancelling headphones! (This is something I've only done recently so its a new experience.) Some aspies can't stand change but I change things myself IYSWIM.
Unlike some I don't think I'm sensitive to light. Some aspies can't stand fluorescent lights of any kind. Take that away though and I would wonder "why?" Hope this helps...

@TheEternalUniverse I shall say it even simpler, for people like you, who can't speak English correctly. A as in apple, s as in rust or snake. So we have As, which sounds like ass. Then we have p, as in pull. then er as in err. Then another s. The 'perg' part in asperger's sounds like burg in burger or iceburg, but with a p. This is how every expert I have ever heard or spoken to has always pronouced it.

NP and YW. She was, in many ways, like any teenage girl. She loved pop music and pretty hairstyles, and could have pretty strong opinions about what was "cool" :-)... and I will bet anything she is doing quite well.

i worked with a teenage girl who had intellectual disabilities (I am going to guess IQ about 50-60) and had Asperger's. She was quite capable of vocational work and was gearing up for it.

I have imaginary companions. They developed later on, I never really had any when I was a child. I just had these other figures in my brain but I never really interacted with them. Hope all the best!

Well, surely there's more to everything than just being human, even for us. And it's not like AS people would usually want to prove to be better than others, either.
But you're right. People shouldn't really be different, only because of whether they have AS, or even if they are (or perhaps seem to be) smarter than others. In fact, I feel that being "human" may not even have to represent our similarities. I am aware that there should be more to it than that.

I have aspergers, and thanks to that I have headaches and people misinterpret me all the time. most of the time i'm able to have fun with people around me, but when my behaviors and mental process line up incorrectly I hurt others. I hate it and you who posted this are doing people like me a great harm.

I have Asperger's as well.
I agree with pretty much everything Chris said. What he calls "my own world", I personally prefer to call it "a world of its own".
Anyway, I don't like the idea that life should be all about being normal and proving your reputation to other people. I don't even feel living as a human and with other humans is all there is to life. We all have the right to be who we want to be, not because of how we act or what we look like, but how happy it would make us feel.
