Who else here realized that he was a Pitt Panther annndddd if the Steelers would have drafted him... Jerome "The Bus" Bettis + Craig "Ironhead" Heyward.... FUCK SMASH N DASH, I LIKE SMASH N SMASH haha
man ironhead was crazy, he was balling when i was real young but was my favorite player back in his saints days. he was strong as an ox and could fly for a big man, loved lowering the hat and flattening people. man he was intense, seemed like the kinda guy who would show up to practice drinking a can of pennzoil .
seems all the speed and strength, and AGILLITY of this amazing man went to his son, Cameron Heyward. He is as tough as if not tougher than his dad. He would be proud of his son if he were still here today, R.I.P.
I remember watching this game as a kid, right after Miami beat Oklahoma, and remembering everyone here cheering Pitt and Heyward on! First game I ever seen Ironhead play in.
I believe that Miami was ahead of Pitt most of that game by 14-20 points, but Pitt kept running Heyward straight-at the Hurricane defense, and they couldn't stop him, so Pitt tried playing cacth-up by RUNNING the football
Damn he must have been. Seeing this I almost thought he could have been an LB. That is one big corner, but tell me if I'm wrong, you could still bump and run alot more then than now. So big corners would have been needed in order to push around the WR....
I remember seeing this stiff arm while watching this game as a kid. And over the years I've tried to explain to people the meanest stiff arm I've ever seen. And here it is. Still mean after all these years.
Crain " Ironhead" Heyward was a monster. One of my favorite players of all time. Not only that my partner from New Jersey said he used to dunk and rip the rim off the backboards. damn
I went to Syracuse, and saw him catch a long bomb against us in the Carrier Dome! I never seen a dude that big come out the backfield and burn anyone like that. Slammin! RIP, Ironhead!

If you're a real Pitt fan, notice the guy at the 28 sec mark. Former LG, current TJ HC, No. 73 Bill Cherpak.

Grew up in the same neighborhood. Ironhead would play all positions, even kick field goals. Anybody that knew him knows that.

They said that Craig had a great sense of humor and that this is why he was so popular among his teammates. So sad to see him go at such a young age.

I actually give the safety props for being able to take down Ironhead by himself.
