  • I'm trying how to learn this firetruckin song but you are playing it too fast

  • No offense, constructive critisism, but this video helped me

    /watch?v=DiNBnxeksis

  • I had to recover my youtube account to comment on this. It sounded great, he may have played a few keys without their harmonic counterpart, but this video was fantastic and he did a damn good job playing this song.

Jeeze, I can never scroll to the comments section without seeing some dumb-ass criticize the video make.

  • @ wis64 it sucked

  • i like this would u mind eachin me the part from 0:30

  • @STewIFFin I would love to get the score for the second half, did you ever write it out? The second part to the original score is lame, you added a lot to it!

  • Omg on the main theme for the treble clef its G# and C idiot

  • @Treblemaker888 He is playing this by ear, cut him a little slack.

  • Sounds really good!

  • I love it! By the way, it is not too loud at all.

  • I think it sounds amazing! great job!

  • this was so great it makes me want to learn it

  • 15 people need to drop dead. /in a bad mood right now

  • take no notice of the people makin nasty remarks play how you want to play everyone has there own style, personally i like it weldone :)

  • nice job man don't listen to those other morons I'm trying to learn this one myself or at least the main part. I'm having a lot of trouble putting the right and left hand parts together it sounds kinda sloppy I may go ahead and put a video of myself butchering it online just to give all your commentators something to really complain about.

  • Not bad, I think if it were played on a different keyboard, it'd sound a lot better.

  • I just like how you put your own spin on it, it made it sound great i think

  • this is rlly good [: im learning how to play it nxt week

  • I see from your hands that you are probably a young child or kid. Keep practicing. As to the other critiques, you really should work on your ear training. It is true that the opening notes you play are incorrect. I did not listen to more than 7 seconds myself. After I heard the opening, I was not interested in listening to the rest. Adults can be very critical so please do not take this as a personal attack. Just keep practicing.

  • Nice cover.

  • That was good. A few missteps but really good. Thanks.

  • Haters be quiet! I like it! I smell a touch of improvisation though. But hey, it's all good. Keep up the good work!

  • GREAT :D!!!

  • DAMN! That was bad ass.... Good job :D

  • That is awesome!! i love it! i love it! i love it! :)

  • damn!

  • AWSOME!!!!!!

  • really nice solo !!!!

  • AMAZING JOB!!!! (:

  • WOW! That was great!

  • I really like your innovations. Thanks for this!

  • Just curious, is there a reason why the last days there were so many comments about this recording? The recordings is 21 months old, and there were no comments at all for months. inbetween. Is this video mentioned in a bigger blog or something like that?

  • Christmas is coming up- People are watching Charlie brown christmas.

  • @tybananaquit o tannenbaum

  • because its sweet thats why

  • Its come up on my recommended list a few times in the last couple of weeks.

  • Do you have the sheet music for this version of Linus and Lucy? It's so dramatic. Wonderful!

  • Absolutely AMAZING!!!! 5 stars from me. Don't believe all the negative crap -- a lot of jealous people in this world. Sad but true.

  • Absolutely AMAZING!!!! 5 stars from me. Don't believe all the negative crap -- a lot of jealous people in this world. Sad but true.

  • @bluesenerity Ya know what? I actually play piano myself, so I know how much work goes into preparing a song. I could never play something this good. And neither could you.

  • Comment removed

  • Dig the LH bass variation!! And what you did with the cut-away section (nonswing) that's not transcribed in original sheet.

  • It's a sad thing when old people have nothing better to do that sit at youtube and criticize the work of people less than half their age : )

Though i doubt someone who plays like that really gives a flip what a critic has to say lol.

    Swell job WS64.

    Have a good one.

  • holy cow that was freakin awesome! totally deserves 5 stars gratz man that was cool

  • 5 stars

  • i have to play this peice for my school play and hes doing pretty good!

  • Been a while since I played this, but it doesn't sound like you're swing your notes

  • That was amazing! :) and to all the people that are commenting how you did some notes wrong I idnt hear anything and I'd like to see them play it

  • There were, but honestly, it's not a big deal. It's not like they were messing up constantly. :)

  • Fyi, those aren't improvisations.

  • They are not? We mean the middle part, starting at around 1 minute? Funny, I just improvisate around some chords that are similar to the ones Vince played.

  • Oh, I see

    also, *improvise

  • Why? Cuz some amateurs lke his music and try to play it?

  • Well, they like it, play it, and post it on youtube for reasons unknown.

  • fuck you taconip.your just jealous you have nothing better than a dumb ass playing ddr to put up on you-tube.

  • And apparently you don't have anything better to do than try to restart a Youtube argument that ended over a month ago.

    Get a life, dude.

  • yyou make no sense! you were in the arument in the first place so how do you have more of a life than me?man i must have no life because on my "free time"(i.e time that is free from duties or responsibilities ) i take 30 seconds to type something to someone must mean im a loser.

  • It's not the time spent...it's the fact that a smart ass like you decided to turn a fairly negative three-comment exchange into a shouting match, involving yourself in the process.

    "fuck you taconip?"

I was half joking when I posted that anyways; compared to most recordings of this piece on youtube (as I later found), this isn't half bad.

Don't bother replying, I'm not going to perpetuate this.

  • well you i cant tell if your half joking in a written response. i thought you were some jack off who had could not appreciate the skill it takes to play a song. sorry. also lol "shouting"

  • Understood...I actually play piano myself, so I know what goes into preparing a song. Sorry for flipping out at you.

And shouting, well...you know what I mean lol.

  • @taconip No he's not, he's happy someone is at least TRYING to play his song. Let's fucking hear you play it! Your nowhere near this buys skill level.

  • @AgentMerk *cough Iplaypianoforaliving cough*

And if you're going to insult me, learn a little English first.

  • @taconip Ur a dick

  • Okay woah woah you have the top notes all wrong.

And you are playing far too loud. Pounding, it sounds horrible.

  • Which notes are wrong? I don't have any sheet music, just trying to play what I hear on my audio files. And the loudness, well, it's a synthy (I don't own a piano), at that time it was the best I could get from my sound modules. I agree though that it sounds horrible, but I just can use the sounds I have.

  • For the main theme you've got the top note right (Ab Bb C, C Bb Ab, Bb Ab etc.) but the bottom note is off by a little bit. (it's C Eb Ab, Ab Eb C, Eb C etc.) It seems like you're playing fourths or something

  • The harmony is not in fourths. The original is a 6th, 5th and 3rd and then back down:

C+Ab; Eb+Bb;Ab+C (in the key of Ab)

A finger stretching exercise for sure, but it makes a difference you will hear immediately!

  • It still sounds good. Maybe you have a different audio file than me.

I have the original sheet music, so I guess it sounds odd to me since I've been playing mine for so long.

  • @WS64 the left hand in the first part, you don't need to add those extra notes.

its just Am-Bm-Am x2 Am-Bm-F x2. You're adding an extra Bm and F when they shouldn't be there. (you were doing Am-Bm-Am-Bm Am-Bm-F-Bm)

i think there are some sheet musics floating around the net. try to look for them :)

  • @WS64 - I think you play very well and I'm looking forward to playing like that. I'm just learning this song, having watched a demo video with David Benoit. He showed the right hand to be G#, A#, B as you play it, but the harmony is C, D#, G#. I hope I'm not the 1000th person to say so - I just saw that Gackupo never answered you when you asked which notes.

  • @calism23, I don't have any sheet music, and I don't know who David Benoit is, I just know several recordings of this song by Vince Guaraldi and Wynton Marsalis. So what does it mean, the harmony isC, D#, G#? I don't even know which part I play is not right...

  • @WS64 - No problem - the David Benoit video was hard to find anyway. If you're interested, you can just type "I Gotta Play That: Linus And Lucy Classic Lick" for a YouTube search and it will be the first video. I didn't have sheet music either, I just watched his hands.

  • @Gackupo If it is too loud for you, turn down the volume yourself.

  • wow....amazing

  • I cant learn this even though i have sheet music good job.

  • Whoa. best cover I've ever seen! Loved the way you flew up the keys at the end! Bravisimo!

  • He's jazzed it up a lot and it sounds great.

I love that he goes up and down the scale on the right-hand keys several times. He pushes the scale to the limit.

He played a lively and entertaining version.

It sounds familiar, like it was used in a Peanuts Special or a segment of a Peanuts show.

  • Awesome! Did you write this arrangement?

  • Brilliant sir! My childhood has risen up before me. And it is happy.

  • WHOOOOO! u can go dude! I'm learning this on the piano now such a great song!

  • awesome version! I just downloaded a free version of this online but this one seems way better, mine is also in A- flat, but I like your improv, it's pretty sweet

  • sorry and Ab

  • is that the same key that it was originally written in? i mean you have done a great gob on this song but i have a book with excerpts of the original work and it has Eb Bb and Db.

  • You were quite good.Oh yes I love the Peanuts myself.Charlie Brown is me when I was but a ladd.Rest in peace Chuck Shultz.

  • Hey, I think this sounds great! It is one of the best on YouTube!

I am curious - what kind of piano is that? It has a rather unique sound that I cannot quite put my finger on (no pun intended). Sounds great, though!

  • Electric I'm pretty sure...

  • its all about style, and individuality... not about what key or note its played in. Just give the guy his props!! Great Job!

  • What's up with the left hand?!?!?!

  • you are adding an extra note on the left hand, not sure if i like it as much that way, but you still are rockin out

  • the left hand does NOT sound right!!!

  • the notes in the left hand are right, but there is an extra note in the pattern, the right hand is just plain wrong. the intervals on the right hand should be a C dim 6, Eb with the fifth, and Ab with the maj 3rd. he's playing something entirely different

  • @xxninjaboy he plays one extra note each time for some reason

  • great job!!!

  • What a great adaptation! If you ever wrote out a score, please post a link to it - I want to copy it! I also like this tune with a twangy electric grand sound. It's a natural even though that kind of piano didn't even exist when the tune was written. Great work!

  • You nailed this one...Good job..You added your own style to the song...that's awesome! You do Schroder proud!

  • I think it would sound better if the top part was more acoustic.

  • So far this is the best Linus & Lucy on Youtube. All the others have awful timing or are too off from the original that they just kill it.

  • datt was da best linus & lucy i have ever seen on youtube

    u were hottt!!!!

i like how u added ya own style to it :)

  • You totally kick my butt at this song, but I'm curious...You play a D sharp on the right thumb where I play a C (The left hand is the same pattern). Did you learn that from sheet music?

  • I love you !

  • WOW!!! Well done.

  • I could not play so good like you man, but It is something who gets me to not wote 5 on you, but that i should write 4/5. yeye

You deserve 5/5 So i wote that!

  • It sounds like you are hitting the bass notes to hard. Just my opinion. Maybe just lighten the bass up. Excellent, nevertheless!

  • Awesome! Thank you for sharing!!!

  • wow

  • hey that was like really cool.....you did a great job....we are doin that song in chours and our musice teacher doesnt know that one part that is real fast and he has been playin for years.....you reallly rock

  • your the ass hole who watched it

  • yup i agree!!

  • What an Awesome Job on an Awesome Song I like how you also made it your own in a few spots that don't quite match the original song but you put your own flavor into it. Great job and Keep it up!!! :-P

  • sounded out, or memorizes sheet music? If it is sheet music, can You please tell me where to get it?

  • WS64 I Wasn't Talking About The Video I Was Talking About Someone Else

  • Idiot

  • Cool!

    Now, on ukulele!!

    :)

  • Pretty good!:)

  • You're great dude. Why is it when someone is great at one instrument, they tend to be great a more than one?

  • Once you can play one instrument it is pretty easy to learn a second. Or third ;)

  • Beautiful! Good job.

  • Yes there is someone :S

But you play really great! :D

  • Fabulous!!! We want an uke version now!!! :-)

  • Wonderful--I second that!

  • LOVE THIS.

  • Großartig.

  • Perfection as always. Vacationing in Germany during July. If you play any venues, We would definately make a road trip to hear you play live. Greetings from Indiana. Keep up the excellent work.

  • Venues: Nope, my last gig (or band occurrence) was in 1994, these days are long gone!
