  • Horrible stutering nervous interviewer

  • Thanks for posting this. There are, of course, cogent objections to Jaynes's evidence and conclusions, but TOOCITBOTBM is an incredidly stimulating book, and one which proposes an amazing number of areas for further research (some of which is finally starting to happen.) it's also beautifully written. I don't know if Jaynes is wholly or partially right, but I love re-reading his book as well as trying to keep up with the latest developments.

  • Thanks very much for this.

  • Darwin, Einstein, Jaynes.

  • Survival instinct, brain capability & population growth drives social interaction change. Again we are at a transition time. World protest generally against governing system having reached their useful limits in supplying survival advantages to the growing population. Consciousness with higher level abstractions implemented & the discovery of deception. But today deceptive use of abstraction is failing & we are advancing to fully understand the tool of proper abstraction use, consciousness.

  • I love the new book.

  • Steven Pinker is the only other brilliant mind that claims that some of the evidence Jaynes uses in the Illiad and The Odyssey is written down alot later that when first articulated, causing a bicameral understanding in this time period to be a bit fuzzy.

  • Julian Jaynes is one of the most brilliant men in his articulate study and intense compilation of his theory of the bicameral mind. Jaynes is the Darwin of the psychological development of consciousness!
