I think, above anything, i like the atmosphere of this game. Just a more traditional fantasy in comparison to the poppy FFXIII. This game felt a little more grounded; its just too bad the story and gameplay weren't quite up to snuff compared with its predecessor (FFX). After watching the opening sequence to FFXV, I hope that Square decides to return to that kind of world. If they get away from the anime and pop culture themes, I think they'll rediscover themselves like the fans've been wanting
I love this game, if for nothing else, it is a direct sequel to Final Fantasy VI. If you look around the world, you will see the influences of VI throughout the game world. For me, that element added to my excitement as I played through this game. If you look hard enough you will notice the elements of which I speak. XIII lacking towns upset me alot, but considering the story they pushed, it made sense somewhat. I prefer XII over XIII though.
Hated this game when I first played it. I never even finished it as I disliked it so much. Then I bought FFXIII and it was far worse. I manged to finish FFXIII and thought it was unfair to finish that game and not finish FFXII as they were made by different teams.
So I went back to FFXII and it has to be the best JRPG I've played. Seriously, the game just needs time to sink in. If a HD version of FFXII had come out instead of FFXIII then JRPGs would be better than WRPGs this gen.
