  • The acting by Brian Mosley was really realistic I thought.

  • COME BACK OZZY AND DO THE 80S WOULD BE GREAT

  • I remember watching this. Seems like yesterday.

  • Just bought the 50th anniversery boxset, which includes this episode and the episode after which shows Reene in hospital. Very sad music at the end.

  • @Delboylover1997 Really? What other episodes are on it? I thought it was just the same as some that wereon the other boxsets

  • Russell Harty was a friend of hers, and he told a story about her giving a talk about her work somewhere when the chairman said 'and now ladies and gentlemen, please welcome... Myra Hindley'.

  • i've always liked renee and felt really sorry for her when she died :(

  • I always liked renee. Was fascinated to read that she's a good friend of Alan bennett.

  • @custardaghost Renee was good character and well suited for Alf, think she should have stayed in the show bit longer than 4 years.

  • Is that Claire Peacock sitting down at 0:24?

  • @jimmywires500 Lol would she even have been alive here.

  • No but it didn't get in the way of her getting in this scene, Ashley was in the toilet

  • @jimmywires500 lol no claire peacock wasnt even born until january 1981

  • Only issue i have with this is that in the time it took the lorry to get round Alf would have already been at the drivers side of the car and Renee wud have either just got out or be arguing she didnt want to lol

  • No mobile phones in those days. Mind you it looked like Renee had ad it.

  • i used to av a old skool vauxhall viva like that one was a pure peace of shit car but i loved it back then

  • In This Clip, From 8:45 To 9:53, It Was "Coronation Street" Video Close From July 30, 1980.

  • brings back so many memories of a much much more innocent time, sadly modern day coronation lacks the humour and imagination of this time period.

  • @mickeyh1961 Couldn't agree more, 30 years on and most of these characters are legends and still very much remembered, unlike most of these characters of the 21st century are gonna be.

  • still remember this episode.

  • Alf, hardly the most "patient" of instructors! Good to see Annie Walker.

  • poor reenee

  • alf really didnt make an attempt to get renee out

  • @WilliamMorris - No it was a very half hearted effort.

  • One thing i hate sooo much is when somone dies there not at the top of the credits and it would be nice the date they arived and dided lol lik 96 -10 cause there dead like lols

  • alf roberts peter kay

  • stupid truck driver i like reenee

  • What happened to Madge Hindle? :0

  • She was in the sitcom Barbara, think she's retired nowI liked Renee but the Alf/Renee marriage didn't work,so Renee was killed off.

  • @dramaticguy Was that the story behind it, Renee was good character though shame they had to go and kill her off.

  • @MeBenHalpin Hi,yes that was the reason,I was an extra in Corrie in 2001,make up lady said Madge was lovely and it was a shame they killed her off back in 1980.

  • @dramaticguy This was before my time, but i've got the 80's boxset at home and this was one of the 8 episodes under the 1980 disc and very dramatical how Reene's life in Weatherfield came to such tragic end. But wow you've been an extra on Corrie, what storyline was happening at the time.

  • @costellodan Apparently she's retierd and living in the countryside :)

  • The tappets sound a bit slack on Alfs Viva!

  • @darrowby1972 it looked like a Marina to me!

  • @eblanaken nope! deffo a Viva bonny lad!

  • @darrowby1972 Vauxhall Viva HB and a Ford D Series wagon.

  • OMG the year i was born.

  • @idontsignin Lol were you born when this aired July 1980.

  • @MeBenHalpin i was probably a couple of weeks old.lol

  • @idontsignin Lol this was before i was born, but i have the episode on boxset at home and it was so well done in terms of acting and drama.

  • Reeeeeneeee doesn't get silent credits?

  • why are there four parts which overlap

  • I liked Madge Hindle as Renee, she brought a lot of fun to the show, but when they married her to Alf,she was turned into a nag.

  • knowing old bet she told the social services her name was annie walker and dropped her right in it

  • OMG - I saw this when I was 9 and remember every moment of it. This was Corrie when it was a class show!

  • Though i was twice your age when this originally went out - like you; this was quite a memorable Shocker for me back then!

  • I remember being on holiday in the North West and this story was front page news in the local papers.

  • somethign aint it when soap opera storylines make front page news

  • wow freaky stuff

  • Funny how busy the Rovers was compared to today's shows. Signs of the economy? Or is it just less noise for the show. One must wonder.

  • great ending!
