Russell Harty was a friend of hers, and he told a story about her giving a talk about her work somewhere when the chairman said 'and now ladies and gentlemen, please welcome... Myra Hindley'.
Only issue i have with this is that in the time it took the lorry to get round Alf would have already been at the drivers side of the car and Renee wud have either just got out or be arguing she didnt want to lol
@mickeyh1961 Couldn't agree more, 30 years on and most of these characters are legends and still very much remembered, unlike most of these characters of the 21st century are gonna be.
One thing i hate sooo much is when somone dies there not at the top of the credits and it would be nice the date they arived and dided lol lik 96 -10 cause there dead like lols
@MeBenHalpin Hi,yes that was the reason,I was an extra in Corrie in 2001,make up lady said Madge was lovely and it was a shame they killed her off back in 1980.
@dramaticguy This was before my time, but i've got the 80's boxset at home and this was one of the 8 episodes under the 1980 disc and very dramatical how Reene's life in Weatherfield came to such tragic end. But wow you've been an extra on Corrie, what storyline was happening at the time.
The acting by Brian Mosley was really realistic I thought.

Just bought the 50th anniversery boxset, which includes this episode and the episode after which shows Reene in hospital. Very sad music at the end.

I always liked renee. Was fascinated to read that she's a good friend of Alan bennett.

@custardaghost Renee was good character and well suited for Alf, think she should have stayed in the show bit longer than 4 years.

In This Clip, From 8:45 To 9:53, It Was "Coronation Street" Video Close From July 30, 1980.

brings back so many memories of a much much more innocent time, sadly modern day coronation lacks the humour and imagination of this time period.
